My least favorite meal of our trip. Duck confit- super underseasoned, the texture of everything was good, but they forgot to add salt somewhere along the way. This place is upscale but casual with food that is homey but really fresh and well executed. I'm a huge fan and will definitely return next time I'm in Banff. At first, I was worried because most reviews are about their brunch, but we went for dinner, which I'm pleased to report was also excellent. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant was warm, homey, and inviting. Favorite dishes were: - Bread with honey butter. Wow the bread was perfectly golden brown with all the Maillard flavors on the crust (almost like a pretzel) that perfectly complement the sweetness from the honey and the richness of the butter. The inside of the bread was nice and plush. So good - Rainbow trout. Again, the fish just tastes so fresh like it just came out of the water. On today's menu, I ordered a vanilla latte ($6.25) and a bison Benny ($27). I was really excited because the photos looked amazing and the menu looked appetizing. But honestly? My favourite thing was the coffee. This latte was rich and deep flavoured, I honestly should have got some beans. Unfortunately that was my favourite part. Was my Benedict good? Yes, but there were some missed marks. The platting was messy. While I understand it was busy, I felt let down by the pretty, organized advertising. Our server never checked on us either. Again, it was busy, but it was a missed mark. While the potatoes tasted good, I feel like whole baby potatoes are... lazy? It was called "House potato", and they were offered on 4 of the 5 breakfast plates. I was disappointed because I'm a huge fan of crispy and/or fried potatoes for breakfast. Hollandaise sauce tasted great and eggs were poached medium, but I couldn't taste any freshness in the toast. I also couldn't tell at all that the meat was bison. I expected a gamey taste, but it tasted like plain shredded beef. If someone told me I was eating bison, I would literally not have guessed. And yes, I've eaten a lot of bison, there's a distinct flavour that game meat has. This meat did not have it. All in all, the dish was way over priced for what you get. People might say "well that's just Banff" but I'll say "I expected more because IT IS Banff". But hey, at least the latte was amazing. read more

This is cosy and upscale restaurant right in the heart of Banff with a great view of the mountains. I had a great time coming here as the service was fast and friendly and the food was good. We ordered the bison tomahawk steak, ceasar salad and vegetable wellington. All of the food was good, but I was a but disappointed that we ordered the "show piece" steak and was underwhelmed with the results. Maybe it was because we asked for the steak medium, but it seemed to come out a bit dry, as if it was waiting for the rest of the dishes to be ready to be served. I had the Holy Cow bowl which was a combination of beef brisket, poached egg, coleslaw, and potatoes. What a great combination. The brisket was tender and full of flavor and the combination was great. This place is very popular so a reservation is suggested but the wait without was only 10 minutes. Very solid brunch restaurant when it comes to food and was a nice open space. We went around noon time on a Saturday and was able to be seated pretty quickly. I ordered the bison Benedict while my friend got the french toast. The benedict was quite delicious and the meat was very tender, pairing super well with the hollandaise sauce and I enjoyed it over the croissant rather the traditional English muffin. The potatoes on the side went well with the dish and was even better with the hot sauce and ketchup. This place is a really good- maybe one of the best places in banff. However, I didn't think to make a reservation, so they seated us in the back bar which hardly got any attention. I'd give this a solid 4. It's not a must go place but the food was good. The interior is very nice and open, very comfortable and classy. We were 15- 20 mins late from our reservation time, but they were kind enough to accommodate..though their grace period is only 10 mins typically. The food is farm to table and beautifully plated. Connected to the hotel right beside it; I love how open concept they made it, you can literally see the bar and pretty much entire restaurant while standing in the hotel. We ordered the Mountain Cobb Salad : rotisserie chicken, bacon, hard boiled egg, whipped goat cheese, greens, tomato, pickled onions, Rocky Mountain wildflower vinaigrette. $24 And we added the side of avocado $5. But this fresh salad was delightful! So refreshing, the dressing wasn't overpowering, and the portion was a nice medium size. The kids quite enjoyed it as well! Speaking of kids they do have a kids menu- cutely called the Spring Chickens menu. Which had classic foods like, eggs and bacon, granola parfait, French toast and Belgian waffle options. We also ordered a brunch bowl called This Little Piggy: bbq pulled pork, 2 free run poached eggs, hollandaise, cilantro fennel lime slaw, and mini hash brown patties. $22 again absolutely amazing dish! The pulled pork flavor and sauce were savoury and paired with the mini hashbrowns it was a super savoury dish. Again kids enjoyed the taste and the adults loved that it was unique but tastefully put together. No pizza on the menu at lunch/brunch time but we were happy with our order. Food: Holy cow bowl - the angus beef steak was cooked perfectly medium rare - super flavorful and moist. The mushrooms and arugula give a great earthiness to the bowl. The potatoes were cooked well. 5/5. Fowl bowl - the duck in this is delicious though it is like pulled duck rather than slices. The sauce is perfect with the duck. We stumbled upon this place - after popping into the nearby coffee shop, which is housed in the same hotel building. I noticed that they were still serving brunch options and being that we were about to embark on a snowshoe adventure, I figured it wouldn't hurt to stock up on some sustenance. She brought out generous portions of bacon and smoked salmon and made sure to include plenty of napkins and silverware. The next day we came back with eager grins and grumbling stomachs. The same host was there to welcome us and she made sure that we were seated promptly. The whole place was bustling and it was evident that this spot is a coveted morning spot for many locals in the know. With their lovely local - farm to table menu - it's easy to see why. Our server was personable and quick. My husband ordered the Canadian benedict - and we shared some sides of braised bison, bacon, and chicken sausage. The braised bison was phenomenal. It was so good that we ordered some to-go. You can find it on their special breakfast braised bison benedict and I believe you can also find it on their dinner menu in select dishes as well. The interior of Farm & Fire was hip, clean and well lit - with beautiful big windows. The customer service was phenomenal and all of the dishes that passed by us - looked incredible. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again for breakfast/brunch (they serve it till 2:00pm) . Their dinner menu sounds amazing as well. Both their indoor and outdoor areas have warming fires for cozy evenings, and they even host live music on select evenings as well. There are a slew of beloved eateries in Banff - but even with the plethora of options - I would have eaten here a third time - if we had stayed longer in the area. Orange traffic cones and sporadic piles of mulch and a big hvac or pool filter unit. Newly planted trees and big tree stumps that haven't been removed. Our waitress was decent. The wedge salad was amazing as was the brisket pizza. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and hot (but so is the rotisserie chicken from Costco at like 1/6 of The price) Menu is super limited and a bit odd. I would recommend looking over the menu before you go. One couple sat down and after reading the menu - they left. Table next to us ordered beer and one small pizza. They also ordered the soup of the day and the bread rolls. The rolls came out after their entire meal was eaten. So I have mixed feelings - the brisket pizza and wedge salad are a 5. Rotisserie chicken is fine. Menu super limited. The ambiance was nonexistent outside and the hostess was oddly cold. My advice - eat inside and try a variety of their pizzas. read more

I wasn't expecting much once I saw that it was attached to a hotel and on a touristy strip, and even less excited when we heard they were only doing their brunch menu at the time. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised with their healthier take on classic brunch dishes and that although they include eggs, those aren't the only proteins. Our server was a delight to chat with and gave us helpful tips on local hikes and whether or not the gondola was worth it. It was tricky to get my dog up the patio since they don't have a way to really enter without walking through the resto (so I lifted her up and through the railing), but they are indeed dog friendly outside. Ultimately, I'm glad we were here for brunch and not the much pricier dinner menu. It was nice to relax in the sun with a beer (he graciously let me try some before settling on a local sour) in between sightseeing. read more
