Second time here and it was just as lovely as the last time. We were last here practically right after it opened and love how much this cute punk rock restaurant has come to light. There are tractor toys on the barn, adorable EIEIO shirts for the staff, and wonderful paintings hanging on the walls leaning into the farm bar name. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese curds (ooey gooey goodness) and heirloom tomato salad (special of the night it was wonderful and crunchy), a few cocktails (the corn to be wild one is incredible) and as mains the hot honey chicken sandwich (amazing) plus the half chicken (tasty). Service was great and everyone is super friendly. Will definitely be coming back in the future. The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars was that I felt there was a lack of vegetable options on the menu. I wasn't sure if my main came with any vegetables but I didn't see any additional sides on the menu that could be ordered for the meal. Consider adding two veggie side dishes such as carrots or asparagus that can be ordered with any meal. Alternatively you could have the salmon Caesar salad as a half portion option in addition to the full option. read more

First let say that my meal was wonderful at Farm Bar, absolutely delish! I have had Harrisa Shakshuka (roasted peppers, onions, and tomatoes stewed with garbanzo beans, harissa and cumin, topped with tangy goat cheese and two poached eggs). I have had this dish at other restaurants and this was by far the best in terms of the texture and flavor. The Dutch Baby (puffy German-style pancake, baked in a skillet. Served with butter and Canadian maple syrup). Smaller than what I though it would be, but it was lovely....4 Star meal, no doubt in my mind. The Doctor got the Chilaquiles (El Milagro Tortillas, Serrano Tomatillo Salsa, Pickled Red Onion, Sour Cream, Queso Fresco, Cilantro and two scrambled Farm Eggs), which he loved. The Queen and I enjoyed the Dippy Dog Bites (sausage, battered and deep fried- served with maple syrup for dipping), those were quite tasty, sort of reminded me of a mini McGriddle. The BFF got the Wisconsin Pimento Sandwich (breakfast sausage layered with creamy house-made pimento cheese, egg, salad and roasted potatoes) and he cleaned his plate. The Queen got the Steak & Eggs, no photo but she also cleaned her plate (10 oz of coffee-chili rubbed beef tenderloin tips, two eggs cooked the way you like, refried beans, pickled red onion, avocado, cotija and cilantro). But you may be asking, why am I only giving 3 stars for my review? Well because Yelp has not moved to a half star rating. The food at Farm Bar was wonderful and I would love to come back and try the burger and that Brandied Cherry Sundae. The service is what took it down to a 3 star rating. Me, The Doctor, The Queen and my BFF #1 decided to come here for brunch. We were seated at a great table, which for me was the best on in the house as we were not crowded around other tables. There was a table near the windows but there was water dripping from the overhead air conditioning pipes overhead and they ended up moving. Our server was nice, pleasant enough, but just not as attentive as we would have liked. More than once we had to get his attention for additional drinks, although the busser was great at clearly our table. We had another person call him over so The Queen could give him a $20 tip. ai ordered extra eggs with my dish that did not come out, so the server had to go back and get them for that lovely dish. This is such a good date night, moody kind of spot. I like that they use a lot of seasonal and regional produce in their dishes, and that the menu changes seasonally. Their beer/cider selection is good and the food has always been top notch. We like sitting at the bar and interacting with staff members that way. Went this afternoon 630-ish was hoping for upstairs open air eating and drinking but found that is only Thursday through Sunday. Luis and I got seated in corner table had a side view of main dining. Order two THC infused drinks the Orange version. It was wonderful then order Challah with all spreads and that was incredible. Main course both fish , Lake Trout and Salmon both had different beds Luis was a risotto and mine a spice cream salad could have had less green olives but that all I would change. They were both '10's. Amazing flavors and the plates were artwork to view. We ended with their cherry sundae. That was delicious too. All food was fresh as Much as possible locally sourced. I wish I could do 3.5. I've had mixed experiences here. The fried chicken sandwich is insane (good). And the carrot cake slice is also the best I've had in my life. I think one time I also asked if they had iced coffee or tea or something and they made it for me. But the last time I went was also weird bc between my server and a bus boy they asked me if I was done eating and tried to take my plate about 20 times and back to back to the point that I physically crouched over it to indicate I wasn't done. And if you're asking if it was closed - it wasn't there was a bunch of people still there and at the bar and I asked when they closed just in case. read more

Amazingly consistent. I've been a fan of Farm Bar since it opened up years ago in Chicago. A restaurant specializing in Farm-to-Table style and you can really taste the freshness in their ingredients. Came in with a pretty big appetite so got two apps: Beet Salad and, of course, their phenomenal Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Both of them hit but I just have to say something extra about these cheese curds. I've had a lot of fried cheese curds in Chicago and they all just tasted and even looked like mozzarella bits. A big disappointment. But these are so different. They are unique in flavor and the tempura batter is just right. They are definitely a head above the rest. These right here are the gold standard of cheese curds in my book. The beet salad was incredibly refreshing accompanied by a yogurt sauce and pepita seeds which gave it a great added texture and flavor. For my main I decided on their fan favorite Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and after the first bite I knew exactly why it was a fan favorite. A generous portion of breaded chicken breast fried to a perfect crisp! I'm so glad this place exists! Farm Bar I definitely a favorite of mine. This place is great. They always have super fresh and great dishes, and the cocktails are on point. The owner always seems to be around and is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is dark and romantic, and I love that you can pretty much always find a spot even on weekends. Their version of Cacio e Pepe is delicious. I also really like their beets. Loved everything about this spot! Decor was cool.. my husband had way too much fun with the tractors on the bar! Service was super friendly, especially the bartender Will, who gave us excellent suggestions on both food and drinks. For drinks we tried the brown dog old fashioned, garden of eden, the Phoenix, and sweet chai-ld of mine. My favorite was the Phoenix, but all of them were well- balanced and delicious! For food we ordered the mushroom bruschetta, salmon, and pork chop. All were excellent, but the standout was the mushroom toast... we would return for that alone! We had their new JohnnyMac cider to pair with the pork chop and highly recommend the combo. The cider is nice and dry and goes very well with the savoriness of the pork. Came in on a busy Saturday night and got seated right away, really really appreciated the effort to get us in despite not having a reservation and it was clear it was busy! The cheese curds were GREAT, highly recommend. I had a chicken Caesar which was solid, nothing spectacular but very tasty and fresh. Very frustrating experience. We called ahead to confirm that dogs were allowed and were told we could sit with our dog on the upstairs patio. After driving 30 minutes and paying for parking, we arrived only to be told the patio was closed and dogs were not allowed. The issue isn't the restaurant's policy-it's that we were given incorrect information over the phone, which wasted our time and money. If you're not consistently able to accommodate dogs, please don't advertise as dog-friendly or tell customers otherwise. read more

Great food and experience. It was a busy Saturday night, nonetheless it didn't feel like it was helpful to have reservations because we waited 15 minutes before an open table. Nice neighborhood feel, and delicious food. The French kitchen provided for a nice open setting while watching the cooks orchestrate the orders. At least not on this busy night, it's not an intimate setting as they pack the room. Staff were all in sync, and professional and courteous. No surprise their cheese curds are a number one seller, as they were indeed delicious. Less naughty, their number two for appetizers are the carrots, which look amazing, as do all their appetizers. The mushroom entree was really deliciously layered and my wife was thoroughly happy with her farmers steak, both beautifully presented. All the desserts look inviting, however we chose a newer addition, honey and black walnut ice cream. It was a winner, made with no stranger to their menu, Wisconsin BDF honey. THE AMBIANCE: My friend and I wanted to chat on the rooftop but I didn't realize the rooftop had a completely (not as good) menu as Farm Bar so we had to go back to the ground level to eat. The inside of Farm Bar is just average, if not a little dark. Not a place I would want to stay a long time at. Now, the rooftop is a different story! THE DRINKS: I am a red wine type of girl and decided to try the cider sangria. It was fine but not something I'd get again. I would definitely return to try The Phoenix (because it looked cool and I love tequila!) THE FOOD: We tried the zucchini blossoms for an appetizer. There were only 3 for $9 which I thought was a waste of money. I had been eyeing the duck from the menu the day before and while I was torn between that and a few other dishes, I decided to go with the duck since it was also the special. Unfortunately, I regretted that decision. It was not tasty. There wasn't a balanced flavor profile and the sauce didn't taste good either. Thankfully, my friend shared his dish; the salmon. I remember this place being better the first time. We sat at the bar later in the evening and our bartender was friendly but service was so slow. She was also tending to tables throughout the restaurant. The cowboy burger was a slagel farms patty so there was flavor but it wasn't cooked to temp. The house salad had a really yummy dressing but the chicken was bland and strange looking. I haven't been here since it was Fountainhead (a very long time), but so glad we popped in! The menu was limited because we were there at a random in between time, but the pumpkin hummus, the salad and the burger were all fantastic. Not a Chicago native, but I come often to visit family. I do remember what Farm Bar used to be, but that will be a distant memory now that this restaurant and its great staff are here. It was a cold and rainy night that we ventured out.... 3 kids, grandma in tow... there was 7 of us. My sister made a reservation so the table was ready when we arrived. Our server Corrine was very attentive and also made great recommendations (pairings) for dishes and cocktails. I ended up going with the pork chop... it was ginormous and delicious. Corrine recommended a wine to go with the pork and it made it that much more tasty! Great specials, they source local (the pork chop came with apples sourced from a local farm). My only complaint is that my body couldn't try more dishes. They had some strong mushroom-forward specials that I wanted to try as well, but I'm sure we will be back to have great service and good food! read more

Wooh! What a great addition to the Ravenswood neighborhood that's easily accessible. There is paid street parking or it's fairly accessible by the Brown Line. A friend and I went here for dinner and we definitely recommend making a reservation, otherwise you'll be waiting for such great food. One thing about this restaurant is that it's very tight knit and you're practically sitting on top of each other. When it comes to folk who have different physical ability levels or are of different sizes, I'm concerned about their abilities to sit comfortably in this restaurant. Our server was very knowledgable about cocktail and drink pairings with our food choices. I went with a cider and my friend had a cocktail (I can't remember the name) that was also very tasty. I'm pretty sure I could eat a gallon of those cheese curds and will make sure I order them every time I'm here. If you don't get them, you'll regret it! I chose the porkchop and was so impressed with the quality of the meat and its balanced flavor! Porkchops are tough to not make dry, but wow Farm Bar did a great job of making it just right. The pairing with the apple slaw and potatoes also enhances the flavor and textures of the food. I was also impressed with the portions for the prices of the food. Service was quick between ordering and getting our food. Hoping that there's an opportunity or two to sit outdoors to have a bit more breathing room when I'm back. Solid brunch option, and they take reservations to boot! Came here with a friend and we both enjoyed our food. Split the cheese curds as an appetizer-yum. The breading was very light; lighter than most cheese curds but I really like it that way so I enjoyed them. We both got the smokey croque for our meal. It's a looooooot of food but quite delicious. The potatoes that come with it were very good too-kind of heavy with such a heavy sandwich but flavored well. I also like the little salad that came with it. It was a nice touch of fresh for such a heavy, rich sandwich. Our server was great, attentive without hovering, and gave us recommendations on both food and drink. I tried the spiced cider to start (very good, but the garnish made it hard to drink, lol), and then tried one of their beer. My friend had two beers as well. The one downside: it is tight in there! We had a table for 2, and it was very small. I was also sitting 'out' in the aisle, and people kept bumping into my chair as they walked past (and I had my chair pulled in as far as it could go). Ordered the green apple salad, side of roasted red potatoes and a grapefruit mimosa. Food came fresh and fast. Green apple salad was delicious!! Comes with fresh large green apple slices that I love, pumpkin sears with big juicy cranberries tossed in an apple vinaigrette salad dressing. I almost licked my plate it was so good. We came here for dinner on Saturday with another couple for a 6:30pm reservation. Upon arrival, the space is very cute and moody although gets loud during peak meal hours. I saw they have a cute roof patio for summer months! Our servers were really nice and our dishes were cleared away quickly so that was a plus. My main issue was the food. The pumpkin hummus and roasted carrots were okay, but entree wise my husband and I shared the braised short rib and the farmers steak. The braised short rib was tough and overcooked and the Spaetzle were cooked well but didn't have a lot of flavor. It really could have used some more butter, salt, and pepper! The farmers steak was cooked better, but had fat/gristle pieces on both ends so I didn't eat much of that either. The best thing to order here are the veggies: the farmers steak roasted cabbage & maitake mushrooms, and the roasted cipollini onions were the best things on both plates. My friend did share a bite of her pan seared maitake mushrooms - that dish was delicious and I was jealous I didn't order that one! Cocktails wise the Bees Knees was the best. I tried a sip of some of the others cocktails and some were a little watery tasting. Wine was also just okay in my opinion. Honestly had a great time with the company we ate with, but I don't think I'll be back to this restaurant. read more

The pumpkin hummus was amazing, and the salmon entrée also had a warm Autumn flair, with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts alongside the perfectly cooked and healthy portion of salmon. The service was great. Olivia, our primary server (seems to be a team concept of service) did a great job balancing attentiveness with giving us space to enjoy the food. We were off to a good start, being seated right away after arriving early for our Sunday brunch reservation. The water glasses were pretty. We opted out of cocktails since we were walking over to the Koval tasting room next. Coffee was so-so. Could have been hotter. I'd like to comment on the cheese curds but since we never received our order, I have no idea what they might have been like. We ordered them and then ordered entrees a few minutes later, and then the server was MIA for over 20 minutes. Not slammed. Just wandering around and not checking in. Then the entrees arrived. There were not a ton of options, as we were informed that they were only serving from the brunch menu and not the lunch menu. Which at 1pm was a bit of a disappointment. Shaksuka was okay. Not much flavor apart from the goat cheese. The chicken sandwich was "about as good as Popeyes" I was told, which is pretty great, but also much more expensive. We are big appetizer people and would have ordered more of them if there had been a single thing that looked shareable on the brunch menu. Presumably, some of them would have shown up at our table. The server comped our beverages to make up for the no-show appetizer. Which was nice. I'd just rather not end up in the scenario where things have to get comped. read more

Cocktails & starters: 5/5 Entrees: 4/5 Great cocktails: we ordered the Garden of Eden and The Phoenix. The starters were the highlight: Challah bread w/ cultured butter and roasted carrots. The roasted carrots were part of a salad that was citrusy with a nutty sunflower flavoring and were the best thing I ordered all night. For entrees, the north Rod salmon was excellent with a lovely miso brine. The maitake mushroom was very pungent and the puree and the glaze didn't come through very well. We got chicken on the side which was dry. It was 7PM on a Tuesday and the place wasn't very full, but they were sold out of the Qatar roasted chicken which we were very excited about. When I arrived, the seat did have food scraps on it and wasn't wiped. But otherwise, our server was lovely and so was the ambience ambience. A bit pricey, but will be back for the chicken! read more

Disappointed in the food: Barely any mashed potatoes on the plate the ratio of meat loaf to mashed not proportionate. I had to order a side of mash to finish the rest of the meatloaf.
