The buffet here is great, and the service is always awesome. Along with bbq and "fixings," they have other options too. There is a small salad and dessert bar, and fried chicken is also on the buffet. My family loves this place, and my in-laws always ask to go here when they come visit. Farm Boys is one of our favorite places to go! The prices are reasonable, and the food is very good. They have fried fish and shrimp on the buffet one night a week, and I only wish that they had it more than one night a week, because it is great. read more

Well, know folks around here seem to like Farmboys but not so much for me in my experience with them. Their food is (just) OK, but their customer service sucks. On my last visit we had some family that had come to town who had not had lunch and they wanted barbecue, so off to Farmboys we went even though several of us had already eaten (we thought dessert would be nice). Yeah, well because Farmboys is ONLY buffet and they don't seem to want business very badly, they wouldn't let those of us who only wanted dessert in without paying for the full buffet. I had the lunch buffet for $9 not including drinks and it was a great value! I had vinegar pulled pork and the mustard pepper pulled pork, and I found out that I love Carolina barbecue! I used the mustard sauce on the mustard meat and the sauce brought out the mustard meat! However, on my first helping, I did not use the mustard sauce and the mustard pork still had an excellent taste! Oh by the way, I also enjoyed the vinegar meat! The cabbage and macaroni and cheese were good and the service is good as well. I had the lemon cake dessert with butter creme frosting. This was an excellent tasting frosting! There was a line of customers at lunch time so you want to arrive here early. There is a large parking space in the rear of the restaurant. read more

This is pretty good BBQ, South Carolina style. They have both viengar and mustard barbeque and I really liked the green beans and cabbage. Best of all - hush puppies on the buffet. First off...I am a Yankee, but married to a SC native and we go back to visit every now and then. I absolutely LOVE Carolina BBQ (mustard based) and THIS is my new favorite place! We've been to just about all of them, but this one has the best! We met a friend for lunch and had the buffet. Normally I hate buffet food, but it was great to be able to sample everything AND this all was very fresh tasting. The place was PACKED (with locals) and the food didn't sit out long before a pan was replaced! They serve mustard based BBQ and also a vinegar/pepper BBQ that was FANTASTIC! The mac and cheese, lima beans and green beans were delicious and my hubby said the cabbage and fried chicken were fabulous too. Don't miss the "dump cake" on the dessert bar! Don't expect anything fancy in terms of atmosphere. You walk in, pay and sit wherever there is room at the large tables in the dining room. There are rolls of paper towels on each table for napkins and the servers will keep your drink full! The staff was very sweet and accomodating when I asked to buy a bottle of sauce to take home...they gave it to me in a squeeze bottle like they have on their tables because they don't "bottle" their sauce commercially. Went there for the first and last time! First impression is walking into a cantine which remind me of my school years. The place is normally full or grannies and people over 80+. The food selection was wide and the price for the food is cheap. But the quality of the food is horrible and the taste of it even worse! For the same price you pay you will get better food at Mc Donalds or Chick Fil A. End of the story went back home disappointing by my dog meal and ended up with a bad stomach pain and bad diarrhea. read more

Farm Boy's is a fantastic restaurant. It's a BBQ buffet...which means unlimited bbq, fried chicken, sides, and desserts. In my opinion, the best sides are the baked beans, the Lima beans, and the Mac n cheese. They have both mustard-based and vinegar-based pulled pork. I prefer the mustard based, but both types were great. They also have bbq hash which was fantastic over rice. The breading on the fried chicken was out of this world. This is another one of those restraunts I will make the long drive for. I don't know of a better buffet in or around Columbia. The line is sometimes long and they are only open a few days a week which is sad but the food is so good! And for such a reasonable price for the quality and amount of food. You can't beat it. Stopped by today and had lunch. The sides were very good Green beans, cabbage, mac and cheese, baked beans, lima beans and corn. I like my meat to be served un sauced so I can taste the meat. They have two types mustard or vinegar soaked. GIVE ME MY QUE and let ad sauce to my liking. The slaw was also good. The price was reasonable. They has a modest salad bar plus desserts. Yum! Pulled pork came in two choices - mustard based and vinegar based. Both were pretty saucy and were very good quality (e.g: no icky fatty stuff, just really nice pork.) I moved to Chapin, SC with the highest of hopes for tasting the world's best BBQ. What I discovered is that I had never had real BBQ before and I was deluded by my past. Here at Farm Boys, they are authentic. The meats (pork, chicken, etc.) are all delicious. Just go into this experience knowing it's different than the commercially packaged stuff you were raised to think is BBQ. Everything was home made, but therein lies the reason I give only 3 stars. We eat at Farm Boy's about every other week because we like it so much. Buffet is large and food is kept hot and fresh. I'm picky about my meat and at Farm Boys I don't find objectionable pieces of fat, etc like I do at most other BBQ places. They offer both mustard and pepper based sauces. The pepper has enough of a kick for me. They have one of our favorite hashes here. Their vegetables and other sides are good. Great baked beans. Salad bar is somewhat uninspired (iceberg lettuce, etc) but that's not what most BBQ buffet eaters are looking for anyway. I can't resist the cake for dessert - good homemade frosting. Drinks are $1, they keep filling them up and always want to send you with a full one to take when you walk out the door. They charge lunch prices right up until they switch to dinner at 5PM. Watch out between 6 and 7 on Fridays when the line can be long. It's good but I wouldn't wait in line for 45 minutes for it. Go early or late. read more
