Meat was dry and vegetables were tasteless One of the best servers I've ever had wait on me n my family was fired after almost 10yeara which was a loss to this business because now the servers are rude and never check on you after the first time. First the good- the wait staff and cashier were extremely nice. Attentive. Tea and Coke never ran out. The restaurant is clean and has a country vibe with red/white checkered table cloths. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. There is a wide variety of southern food on the buffet- bbq (mustard and vinegar), green beans, cabbage, lima beans, corn, collard greens, rice and hash, pepper mill gravy, fried chicken, ribs, bbq chicken, and mac n' cheese. There were also hot wings and wing chips. Most of the food was not very good. Nothing taste homemade- all canned with little seasoning. BBQ was mushy- the mustard based far better than the vinegar. Fried chicken was overly salty and the ribs tasted of liquid smoke. I expected so much more from a well followed BBQ restaurant. Fake banana pudding for dessert along with box cake mix cake with canned frosting. Cherry dump cake wasn't horrible- just not my favorite. Sweet tea was good and the wings and wing chips were the best thing I ate there. Saw many people chowing down on wings and wing chips- not a bad idea for $14. Bottom line plenty of mediocre food for a fair price ($13.40). Enough to make you come in to try it- just not good enough to come back a second time. read more

Best BBQ in the Irmo/Chapin area. Friendliest staff & a great amount of food for a great price! They are only open a few days a week, so check before you go (Thurs.-Sun. I believe). Wow what a find! Probably the best hush puppies I have ever had. Ribs are a perfect blend of fall off the bone and satisfyingly chewey. Hats off to Friendly staff who were accommodating while the "out of towners" decided what to order. Brought us samples to try! Mustard pulled pork is fabulous. They have cream corn string beans macaroni and cheese, fried chicken well just about anything you could think of for an country buffet. Its all you can eat. We were driving back to the upstate from Columbia and needed a place for lunch. It was a Friday and a friend told me I should try Farm Boys for good BBQ. We stopped in about 12:30 and the place was full. We were able to get a table in a few minutes. They have a buffet line with a large number of items to select from. The BBQ was very good. They have hash and rice, a number of vegetables, salad bar and desert. The hush puppies were great and can be considered a desert. They are also open for lunch on Sunday so that was interesting to see. This is a good stop if you like real BBQ! read more

I stooped here once on my way out of town, it was buffet only but unlike a lot of buffets it was clean freshly cooked food. The BBQ is really good, pulled not cut port moist with a light smoke flavor, I was less impressed with the sauce selection but the pork is good without sauce IMO. I don't normal like buffet's as you have a limited selection of food that is left under heat lights for hours, not the case here... It all seemed to be fresh and I really liked having Ribs (yes pork ribs) and boiled peanuts on the buffet.. The only thing I did not like was they are one of those places that seems to worry more about people trying to cheat them than appreciate the customers business (one of my pet peeves). They make you pay as you enter (OK not a big deal) then you have to show a ticket to the waitress to get a plate, then they have a big preachy sigh over the bar about how no one is allowed to take out any food of ANY kind, I think most people know this about a buffet. This sort of thing bugs me the food is still good but (admittedly nit-picky on my part) I do not think I will go back. read more

It's a cherry crunch but it has coconut and pineapple in it. Yummy. The barbecue is great: mustard and vinegar only. Also, it is in a nice building: interior and exterior are nicer than one usually finds in buffet barbecue joints. And it has a drive-thru! My only complaint is it's only open 3 days a week. Hadn't visited in 2 years because the service and food was bad but thought we would try again. We waited in the drive through for 45 minutes then were greeted with a very unpleasant condescending employee that was irritated because we asked for certain pieces of chicken...ie} thighs,wings and legs. We settled and took what was offered. The breast was so dry it was like eating cardboard. They were out of mashed potatoes and mac and cheese... the cherry cobbler had minimal cherries and was mostly streusel cake that was so greasy it made your stomachs upset. We used to visit all the time years ago and it is not the same. Very unfortunate and their management should work on the employees people skills...after all they are in the food/customer service industry. Don't bother...waste of money. read more

This is our second time trying this BBQ We found it on the South Carolina BBQ Trail and we think the trail needs an update. They have a vinegar base and a mustard base for the sauce. It really didn't matter about the sauce because the meat was so overcooked and dry. I also had a piece of dark meat chicken and it was overcooked. The salad bar was iceberg lettuce that tasted days old and horrible dressings. The coleslaw was full of sugar and all the veggies were cold. Avoid the Cherry Cobbler at all cost. My son took me here for the first time a few months ago with my grandson for dinner. They certainly have the down home feel, southern comfort food hat you expect when you walk in the door. I enjoyed the BBQ, loved the vegetables most of all and oh my, the desserts were wonderful. My grandson is 3 and is active. No worries here, this a family place and it's expected that babies will be babies, toddlers will be toddlers. It's all about good food and family. This is our go to bbq local place. We went to celebrate my daddys birthday. My daddy passed away 2 years ago. Every year we go to his favorite restaurants. We went around 3pm. Perfect time. No wait, fresh food. Our waitress was beyond amazing. She saw my daddys picture on the table. We told her our story. She was beyond exceptional with her service. I guess our story got around to the back of the kitchen because as I was walking up to get another plate, I over heard the stories of the losses of their loved ones. My point being people who work here are more than employees, they are human beings. They saw our table it took them back. I am appreciative of the compassion that i overheard while getting my food. Food is always slamming...the staff is what makes it. Thank you for the conversations I overheard at the buffet. I knew we more than a customer that day. Our life story touched your hearts. My husband and I moved here 3.5 years ago, and he has been wanting to go to Farm Boys since we moved to town. We finally decided to make it happen for his birthday Friday, October 25, 2019. We had several plans for the evening, starting with dinner. We walked into Farm Boys, paid for our meal, we set out stuff down at a table, he went on to get his food, while I hit the restroom first. I came out of the restroom to see him with my purse, at the cashier, asking for a refund. I had no idea what was happening, because my husband is such a docile, calm man. I knew something really serious happened to get him so fired up to ask for a refund (because this NEVER happens). We walked out of the restaurant and he explained to me that a lady behind the buffet was going to each employee talking about my clothing saying, "wait til you see what she is wearing when she comes out of the restroom", making hand gestures on her chest to look specifically there on me. First, my clothing has absolutely nothing to do with how the food tastes, and how everyone's job is performed. Second, what I wear out with my husband is absolutely no one else's business but mine and my husband's. I was dressed up, far more than my normal yoga pants and t-shirt look, because my husband deserves that for his birthday, and I deserve to feel and look good on occasion as well. We were given no hassle for a refund, and the manager who we spoke to the next day was nice. However, I sure hope no one ever experiences this going into this establishment. I wouldn't recommend going here because I feel there is a far more accepting atmosphere at any other restaurant in all of the surrounding areas. Any other BBQ joint, or other restaurant can have a far better experience than Farm Boys BBQ. We will not be going back. And we will be telling our friends and family to bypass Farm Boys and go somewhere else too. We are small business owners ourselves, and LOVE supporting other small businesses. But we would NEVER allow an employee to treat a customer in this fashion. Shame on Farm Boys BBQ for employing people who are so judgmental that it forces customers out. read more
