Free samples always make me happy so I was excited when the staff so willingly and quickly offered a try of their orange chicken. Somehow it always tastes good as a singular bite but when I mooched off of my friend's fried rice and orange chicken, it didn't have the same appeal. Rice was a little dry and bland. The chicken also quickly cooled an congealed leading to a less than appetizing experience. Overall, I'm already not a fan of fast American-Chinese food and this just supports that opinion. We came here for lunch earlier today. This Farmers Basket location is in the food court of Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. Parking can be found in the huge parking lot surrounding the mall and the parking garage close to Nordstrom and Macy's. There are a many tables for customers in the food court area, but there are more tables to eat at near both the Nordstrom and Von Maur wings on the ground floor. Farmers Basket is very popular, and always seems to have a line of customers. Some reasons why it's popular is because it has reasonable prices, the food portion amounts are decent, and the food is already cooked and put into warming deep warming pans that customers can see. There are several fully cooked meats that customers can choose from, in addition to a number of mostly vegetable sides. Customers can tell the employee at the serving line what they want. Most people select the 1 meat and 2 sides combo, which, currently is priced at less than $9. They then tell the employee which meat(s) then sides they want, and the employee will scoop up whatever the customer requests and puts the food into compartmented styrofoam take out containers. The customer then pays for the food at the end of the line and gets the take out container. The employees are very nice and friendly, are very quick, and they get customers through the serving line and on their way fast. I ordered the charbroiled chicken, cabbage and fried rice, and R got the same chicken, green beans and lo mein noodles. After we got our food, we walked over to the many tables spaced out in the Nordstrom wing of the mall on the ground floor and ate. I liked the cabbage just the way it was: boiled, not mushy and lightly seasoned. I think cabbage is best when it tastes like cabbage and doesn't have too much salt, pepper or anything else. The fried rice was good. I didn't finish my chunks of charbroiled chicken because it just didn't have the charbroiled flavor that I expected. Instead, it tasted like the chicken was boiled in the sauce. I should've looked at the charbroiled chicken to see if the chunks had evidence of being broiled/grilled, but I hadn't looked, so shame on me. If I had looked, I probably would've gone with a veggie plate, skipping the meat selection. Great customer service, good fried rice and cabbage, but the charbroiled chicken was average at best. read more

We are on a road trip, and our journey brought us to ATL! No sooner had we checked In to our hotel did I start looking for food. I am a vegan in a car with three meat eaters--every place we stopped along the way left me with little to no options. Thank goodness for Door Dash! The delivery time was amazing--probably less than 20 minutes. I ordered a Beyond burger with smoked paprika mayo and onions. The Mayo was rationed out and the onions were clearly in surplus. I left 4-5 rings of red onions on the burger but I took TWELVE off. That was a bit much, but hey--there is probably someone out there that likes extra onions. I also ordered sweet potato hush puppies, I don't know how they did it, but this was the best amalgamation of flavor I have ever tasted!! The sweet of the potato with the crunchy of a hush puppies was unbelievable! It came with some dipping sauce but it wasn't mentioned on the menu (provided by Door Dash), so I don't know what this brown-maybe-it-was-spiced-apple-sauce-but-I'm-not-sure dip really was...it was good, but I would have preferred to know it's contents. Strangely, my meal was delivered with NOT ONE NAPKIN in the bag. And if I were at home, I probably would not have noticed. I ended up using a hotel wash cloth as a napkin. read more

Fresh food in a mall food court.....can it be possible? Yes, it is. I look for Farmers Basket resturant whenever I go malling, they have the freshest food and its all perpared on site so it isnt sitting underneath heat lamps and they will let you taste all of the meats before you place your order. I normally go with the sautee chicken or jalapeno chicken and then my two vegetables....you can get a full me with a drink for about $6 and if you go with a fountain drink, you can get free refills. I like the yellow rice with beans and the sweet potatoes also. Friendly staff and fresh food....what more could you ask for in a mall food court. read more

Cornbread, which looked like a corn muffin, was really hard, dry but still oily (I know, I don't get it, either), and it was unbelievably salty! I mean, did they make a mistake and put salt instead of cornmeal? I paid 74 cents for it and didn't bother to get a refund. Just sad. read more

Why did my meatloaf & mac & cheese taste the same? The collards were okay, but they weren't drained and leaked everywhere. My meal left me full, but not in a good way, and I had a sort of plastic-y aftertaste in my mouth. I guess if you're not used to real comfort food, you might like this place... but there are so many better choices. read more

SOME LIKE IT HOT! When it comes to food, I prefer it hot. For the rare times, I make a hot sandwich at home, I start with toasted bread and add grilled meat and vegetables. Today while shopping at Perimeter Mall I needed to get something to eat and the first place I happened to see as I rounded the corner and entered the food court, was this restaurant. I knew that many of the other restaurants were either too "carb heavy" or too light on the vegetables. At the time of my visit, the food appeared hot and fresh and I loved seeing the employee constantly and carefully cleaning the food area so that it continued to appear appetizing. For my lunch, I chose the char-broiled chicken, long green beans and cabbage. The chicken was lightly seasoned and the veggies were fresh with a bit of crisp. Do not confuse the long green beans with the regular green beans because the regular beans are Army green and probably too soft while my beans were kelly green and had texture. The food was good and I appreciated having more options than just sandwiches or Chinese dishes. ***The food is served cafeteria style so you can slide through the line easily and quickly. ***Check your container to make sure that there are no breaks in it because you don't want to end up with a leaky mess. Mine did leak a bit but luckily I was eating in the court and was able to get another one to transfer my food. Several of their containers were cut which means that someone probably cut to deep while trying to open the box. Just be careful. The food was good and kept me satisfied for six hours. Yum Yum YUM!! I am a Farmer Basket fan. I realized a few months this one is in Perimeter Mall. I've been a regular every since. I like their roasted or baked chicken, salisbury steak, roasted potatoes, and mac & cheese. Considering some of the fast food options in the mall I think Farmers Basket is a healthier option. Farmers Basket is a great little quick bite while you're at the mall. They usually have someone standing outside handing out samples for you to try, which is how they lure you in! FOOD: 4 Pretty decent for mall Chinese food. You can get one meat and two sides for just $6.45, and it comes in huge portions! Some of our teriyaki chicken were a bit over cooked and hard to the bite, but the seasoning is satisfying and on point! SERVICE: 5 They are very fast with moving you through the line, you can finish ordering and paying in less than 3 minutes! ENVIRONMENT: 3 The Perimeter Mall food court is recently renovated with modern interiors, however, it is always jam packed and very loud. I got their fried chicken (Asian) after trying their sample! I walked around to all the other stores and tried their samples but farmers basket had them beat! I came back for their one meat and one side and paid $4.99 + tax. My side was the lo mein. Lo mein was not so good. It was dry and not too flavorful. Their chicken was fresh and delicious! Chicken? The sides are bland, however the Chicken is really good we had three different versions.

If you are hungry at the mall, but don't want typical fast food, try farmer's basket. I recommend the sautéed chicken, it's fried chicken pieces in a sweet honey sauce. It is always crispy and delicious. They also usually have someone passing out samples. Every time I eat here the food is hot and fresh. The employees keep the food area clean and well stocked. It is less than $10 to get an entree, two sides, and a drink. It's really good, the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the decor makes it look like some hole in the wall that isn't worth trying. I waited years to try this place because it just didn't look appealing. I finally tried it when an employee was passing out samples, now I come here about once a month. read more

I happened to be in the Perimeter Mall and found myself hungry. This looked like a nice place, everything was hot, and fresh looking. I chose the chicken strips and 2 sides for 5.49. I ordered mac and cheese and steamed brocolli. The strips were really crispy, even the 1/2 that I took home to eat later. I really enjoyed this, and it was a huge portion. Great find at Perimeter Mall. The Asian Sautee chicken was delicious. Also got mashed potatoes which were a HUGE disappointment , they looked pretty, but tasted awful. I had mashed potatoes that came out of the freezer aisle that tasted better. Also had the steamed carrots. Steamed carrots were OKAY, maybe a little underdone. read more

I've come to location 3 times now and all 3 times it's been a disappointment. I like their fried chicken - those taste delicious. Their sides are terrible though, especially the green beans. Three times I've gotten the beans and twice they have been raw as in seriously not cooked at all. Technically raw green beans can be poisonous so I have thrown them away each time; such a waste of money. The sweet potatoes are decent but overly sweet. If you're looking to get just the chicken, I would say go for it. Otherwise, I'd avoid. The pricing is also pretty expensive compared to the other two Asian stores. read more

They have an excellent selection of southern & Americanized Asian dishes that hit the spot. The Spicy Jalapeno Chicken is my favorite entree and order it with the new potatoes and turnip greens. I used to like to eat at this restaurant. The last 5 or 6 times I tried to go there the food was not ready. When asked, the employees indicate the opening time is 11:00. At 11:25 on December 21, 2014 only a few serving dishes had food in them. Either you are open at 11:00 and have food to serve or you open at some unnamed later time. All I ask for is that you follow your stated hours. Going to an open restaurant that does not have food ready to sell me is a complete waste of my time. read more
