Since I am riding solo this Valentine's Day I decided to treat myself out for dinner. I sat at the bar area near the register. Carol was my server. She was awesome! Attentive, but not bothersome. I ordered the special ~ four succulent shrimp on top of salmon on top of mashed potatoes, blanketed with a rich, creamy and tasty sauce, accompanied by steamed asparagus. It was a pretty plate. It was a delicious meal! In fact, I forgot to take a photo. However, I was mostly done when felt a slim bone at the back of my throat and, while discreetly trying to get rid of it, Christian, the manager must have noticed something strange about me because, although he and the staff were hustling around, busy working, he inquired about my well being. I explained the situation as best I could while fishing for the bone with my tongue. The bone is now lodged near the back of my throat. After a few minutes I managed to remove it. I stopped eating the salmon in favor of the dessert that was included with the meal ~ lava cake!!! Before leaving, I ordered their delicious broccoli cauliflower casserole and some rotisserie chicken for later. When I saw the bill my mouth was agape. I asked, "What happened?" The manager, Christian, took it upon himself to remove the meal from my bill. That's the way you treat a customer! I didn't ask for that and I didn't expect that to happen, however, I was pleasantly surprised! I'm definitely going to revisit this establishment again!! read more

This place has not changed a single bit in 15 years. I grew up going to Roasters, but the location by my home was relocated. My boyfriend and I stopped here while apartment hunting and we absolutely loved it. I got the chicken finger platter and he got the chicken finger sandwich and they both hit the spot. The price for the food is unbeatable and we had our meals within 20 minutes of being seated. It is so wholesome remembering something from your childhood and it being the exact same experience. I grew up right around the corner from this strip mall (the parking is an absolute nightmare. Maybe not quite as bad as towards the Roasters end, but the narrow slanty-spots aisle/road nearest the building around the middle/Trader Joe's section is just horrible.) It was a really sunny, fall afternoon and I wanted to eat lunch on a patio, and while the ambiance of Roasters' patio isn't all that great (parking lot view), the food and service all but made up for it. The portions, price, and taste of my lunch was amazing, and the server (can't recall his name) was friendly and prompt. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as some of the local BBQ places that I frequently do carry-out from, but for how much food we got in our entrees and its price, it was pretty stiff competition. I'd gladly go back again, mostly for the bbq pork, chicken, collards and corn bread. The food is just fine (nothing special but also a place I'd come to again)--we got the pick two each. One had meatloaf, 1/4 dark chicken, creamed spinach, and broccoli/cauliflower casserole. One had the bbq ribs, 1/4 dark chicken, coleslaw, and rice and beans. The meatloaf was surprisingly good and so were the ribs. The sides were all good too. The chicken was dry, the weakest out of all the things. The cornbread or rolls that they offer are $3 so don't think it's complimentary. Came here on a Saturday night around 6 pm and although the place was busy we were seated at once. The place is casual and has a family friendly vibe, so seems like the kind of place people would also go to during the week for an easy meal. Our waitress was great, on point checking up on us but also giving us a moment when we needed to look through the menu. We started out with a couple of rolls, trying both the yeast and cornbread, and although both were tasty the cornbread was the hands down winner. For my main course I got the quarter dark with mac and fries. The chicken tasted just like store bought rotisserie chicken, which I guess is the point, but not something I would order again. They did it again. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent as always. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with veggies (peppers and onions only) that I asked to be sauteed until soft. I omitted the broccoli and corn. Perfectly cooked. Special requests don't bother them. The quesadilla was hot and gooey without the contents falling out. The portion size was enough for two. My daughter had a grilled chicken Caesar salad with their homemade poppyseed dressing. She always gets this so it must be that good. The pot roast was the special of the day, and was really good. I have no complaints outside of EVERYTHING could have been seasoned more, but I definitely can't wait to come back and check out what their roasted chicken is talking about. I went for the first time in this restaurant and the place was quite good. We were very well received by the waitress and advised on the dishes to try. I took a 1/2 all white meet with 2 sides (Mac & cheese and sweet potatoes shouffle) for 14$. I did not manage to finish because the dish was very consistent. My girlfriend took some green beans, Mac & cheese and a chicken vegetable soup and she didn't finish too... Surpringly very good. Some might call it comfort food. Others might call it family food. I had the roasted turkey plate with stuffing and cranbury sauce. Wife had meatloaf. Came here on a whim on a Sunday afternoon because all the brunch places had insane wait times. My friend and I were able to be seated right away here. I wasn't stoked about coming because I'm always skeptical of places with large menus, but I enjoyed the experience 100%! Everyone was so nice. Our server Alex was great - attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The manager came by to make sure everything was good and...it was! Love the appetizer cornbread. And for dinner, I had the turkey and stuffing with sweet potato soufflé and fried okra. The food came out piping hot. The okra was fried to perfection. The sweet potato soufflé had a nice crunch and was just the right amount of sweetness. Let's just say there wasn't much left on my plate except crumbs. I tasted the macaroni and I wasn't thrilled with it. It wasn't bad, but it has an oniony taste to it that I wasn't expecting and I'm not sure how I feel about. Roasters is somewhat of an Atlanta institution to me. There are currently two locations. I used to go to the Buckhead location (https://www.yelp.com/biz/roasters-atlanta-6) on Lenox Road in the early 2000s with my friend who used to live nearby. These restaurants have been around for a long time. There used to be more locations (e.g. Alpharetta and Cumberland), but they closed. There's nothing really "special" about Roasters. They simply serve standard, reliable Southern fare. Traditional comfort food, no gimmicks. During my visits, each location seemed to be popular in its respective neighborhood. People like this place. The atmospheres are casual, good for groups and families, and there are TVs playing sports. Takeout is a popular option. This location is located in Sandy Springs Plaza, the relatively large shopping center with Trader Joes on busy Roswell Road, just north of I-285. If facing Trader Joes, Roasters is on the right end of the plaza. This restaurant is old school. Both the to-go counter and dining room were busy during our visit. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. Roasters specializes in rotisserie chicken, ribs, and Southern sides, veggies, and desserts. They have meals you can order and take home to feed families of 2-6. The "meal deals" that are designed to serve 4-6 people cost anywhere from $29.99 to $64.99 each and all include at least one whole chicken. They also have the classic "meat and two" entrees where you can get one meat and two sides. Most of these are priced at $12.99 or $13.99 each, though food like ribs and fish are more expensive. They also offer combo plates where you can choose two meats instead of one. The side selection is sizable at 25 sides. Additionally, they serve a nice variety of apps, soups, salads, and sandwiches plus wings and fish tacos. There are daily specials and in general, the prices are reasonable. Seniors get 20% off every Wednesday, 5-7pm. You can sign up to receive special coupons and promotions at www.roastersfresh.com. Here's what I tried: * BBQ chicken rotisserie sandwich ($8.99) - pulled chicken on a toasted bun, tossed with Roasters' homemade BBQ sauce; includes a side and pickle * 1/4 dark chicken and BBQ ribs combo plate ($13.99 + $1 upcharge for the ribs) - broccoli and cauliflower casserole, sweet potato souffle * Meatloaf and BBQ beef brisket combo plate ($13.99) - creamed spinach and fried okra Overall, I thought the food was A-OK. Nothing was bad. No surprises. Roasters makes their own BBQ sauce. It was tasty, but didn't taste significantly different than typical American BBQ sauce to me. Sweet, tangy, vinegary, and smoky. It was most needed on the beef brisket. The brisket looked kind of funny, unlike most sliced brisket I've had at BBQ restaurants. It looked really dry, but it didn't taste as dry as it looked. It didn't have great texture and it really lacked flavor, hence the need for lots of BBQ sauce. The BBQ chicken rotisserie sandwich was piled high with plenty of shredded chicken and a copious amount of sauce. By the look of it, if you didn't know it was chicken, it could easily be mistaken for pork. Tender and flavorful. The 1/4 dark chicken was fine. It could've been juicier and tastier, but it was satisfying enough. The ribs were a bit dry, but otherwise OK. Maybe we just got the end-of-day food (the plates didn't start hitting our table until about 8pm and they close at 9pm). Decent portion size on the ribs. The meatloaf was delicious and my favorite of the meats I tried. I would've preferred more ketchup/tomato sauce, but regardless it was still quite good. Appetizing consistency and savory taste. I recommend it. The sides were yummy. I enjoyed them all. Of the ones I tried, I'd rank them as follows: (1) fried okra, (2) creamed spinach, (3) sweet potato souffle, and (4) broccoli and cauliflower casserole. The fried okra had a nice little crispiness to it. The creamed spinach tasted like Boston Market's creamed spinach, which I've been a fan of since I was young. Smooth, creamy, and gratifying. I couldn't stop eating the sweet potato souffle. Eating it was addictive; I kept going back for more. As for the broccoli and cauliflower casserole, it had nice, large chunks of broccoli and cauliflower and was wonderfully flavored. The complimentary dinner rolls, cornbread, and butter were terrific. Served warm and soft. Service was great. Donna was our server and she did a fantastic job. We also had two other employees come to check on our table and ask us how everything was. One of them looked like a manager type. At the end of the day, I think Roasters can be thrown in the same category as places like the aforementioned Boston Market and other chains like Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral, and Ryans. Similar food. However, what sets Roasters apart is they're local and I think their food quality and service is marginally better. We recieved our drinks and unfortunately the Sweet T was not given it was very watery. R and I came here on the last Saturday in February for an early dinner at 4:15 pm. This Roasters location is in a long strip mall. It shares a big and free parking lot with all of the other businesses, and space availability should be very good at all times. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a host and led to a table near the kitchen and given menus. The dining area looks dated, with booths along the walls and tables and chairs in the middle. There are metal tables and chairs outside in the fenced covered patio. When we arrived, there were only about 5 tables with customers at them, and this restaurant can accommodate a whole lot more customers than that. Our server came by later to take our orders. I ordered the country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and cinnamon apples. R ordered a half rack of bbq baby back ribs, baked beans and cole slaw. While we were waiting for our meals, our server brought us a basked of various breads. Overall, even though our server seemed like a nice guy, he was inattentive, was off the dining room floor a lot, and very much overdid it with his cologne. I guess his being off the dining room floor was actually a blessing, except for when we noticed our food was ready in the kitchen, just waiting for someone to pick it up and serve it to us. Unfortunately, we noticed our food was ready 5 minutes before our server saw our orders. Again, he was not around to see our meals were ready, and actually walked by them a couple times before noticing them. Because of this, my country fried steak and the cinnamon apples were served warm, not hot. The country fried steak was a big portion. So big that it hid the mashed potatoes that were underneath it. Sadly, the country fried steak was very bland, and it lacked flavor, even with the gravy. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to it. The cinnamon apples were ok, while the mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach were both delicious. R said that his meal was good.
