Came for dinner and left feeling satisfied. We started with some glasses of Prosecco which took a while to arrive but the waiter apologized and said the bar was backed up. For the entree, I got the Brasserie Chicken, without capers and switched the side of broccoli for extra mashed potatoes. The chicken was good, but could have used a little more of the lemon sauce. The bites with the lemon sauce were delicious though. It comes with small tomato chunks on top which added a little extra juice. The mashed potatoes were creamy and had just the right amount of flavor. The portion was substantial and I took the remainder home in a to go box. The wait staff was very friendly, and although my water glass did sit empty a few times, it was never difficult to flag someone down for a quick refill. There are lots of booths, tables, and also some bar seating. We did make a reservation for this and it was moderately busy on a Saturday night. There's a large parking lot so spots are ample.

Food! Service! Vibe! We had such a great time! We made a reservation for Friday night 6:45 PM. When we arrived, the restaurant was already very busy. There were people around the bar and it looked like all the tables were full inside and out enjoying the evening. Our server was extremely attentive, cheerful, and made sure we were well taken care of. (Wendy) We ordered the filet with smashed potatoes and the Maui ribeye with broccoli. The food was fantastic. My husband's filet was perfectly woodfired and seasoned with a nice salt crust, and perfectly cooked to medium rare. When I say perfectly, I mean perfectly. I'm not sure who their meat distributor is, but it was an excellent cut of meat or we just hit them on a great night. The Maui ribeye was also fantastic. It has more of a sweet marinade flavor, which I loved. We would definitely return for both of those entrées again. Both of our entrées came with smashed potatoes. Neither of us could finish our meal and we did not order an appetizer before. We are looking forward to going through this menu and returning to enjoy all the J Alexander's has to offer. Thanks for a great first experience!

The food here was amazing. My steak was a high quality cut that was perfectly cooked. They had a Cajun seafood pasta that everyone at the table shared and enjoyed. My daughter got the Mac and cheese that she got last time and enjoyed it just as much this time. The spinach con queso and chips was so good we ended up ordering a second round! The staff was attentive and friendly and the establishment was clean and well taken care of. My only "complaint" was that the food was so good we forgot to grab pictures until most of the food was already gone! We will definitely be coming back here next month when we are back in the area.

First...Ana (Server) was great! Food... 1. Sea bass was a little on the dry side. It came with couscous and corn as side dish. The corn was like a Mexican style dish. It did not pair well with the Sea bass! 2. Ribs- they were glazed with a sweet sauce. Very tender, but the sauce was too sweet. Sides: cold slaw and loaded back potato- not bad. 3. Steak and Chips- we asked for Med Well- it came to table Well. Steak Sauce(A1) had a very strong vinegar taste! 4. Chicken Finger Appetizer- no complaints 5. Shrimp Appetizer- no complaints We did not partake in any adult beverages because we had a long drive home.

Honestly, this is never a bad idea for lunch. We stop in here from time to time if we know we're going to Perimeter Mall, which is just across the street. We are always able to be seated immediately which is nice! Normally it's just me and hubby but we had the two tiny ones in tow this day. Their food came out fast and first (a plus!) and they ate it with no trouble. Having them there also means I spent an inordinate amount of time accompanying someone to the bathroom. Luckily the restroom was spacious and clean. Our food was good as usual. The biggest surprise for me was how tasty the cheesesteak was. Visually, it just looks okay (see pic for evidence) but it was flavorful and delicious!! The STAR of the meal isn't even pictured but it was the carrot cake, which was served warm. The cake was so good that my husband said whenever we're at the mall we should just go pick up some carrot cake from J. Alexander. He's not wrong. The cake was extremely moist, the icing was creamy, and it wasn't overly sweet. Hands down, it's the best carrot cake I've ever had. If you've read this far, you should order it!!

    J. Alexander's has become one of our favorite restaurants in the Dunwoody area. The food and service are both consistently good, and for a reasonable price compared to other similar restaurants. I especially like the ribs, and my wife is a big fan of the trout. The french fries are thin and crispy. The coleslaw is one of the best I've had in a restaurant. Highly recommended.

I have never been to J. Alexander's before but that place looks amazing inside. Fancy, yet casual. The host/servers were super nice and just real all in all. My mom and I were craving some steaks and thought this would be the best place for that. We ordered the Ribs and steak entrees both were really good.

My main dish consisted of Lamb shank with mushroom risotto - excellent! Not overcooked for once! I love this dish when it's done right but most of the time they kill it by hours and hours of overcooking. Yes, it's very tender once it gets to you but it tastes like nothing, just mush.. Portico managed to make it perfect. Overall: sleek decor, good service, patio, full bar, self parking. Worth a try if in the area or staying at the hotel.

Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

Food: 5/5 We decided to try a leisurely lunch. The menu is not large, but it has enough variety to be interesting. Everything we tried was delicious. The smoked salmon appetizer portion was large, but the best part was the great flavor. I can see why this choice has been on the menu for years. The Vidalia onion soup will be a surprise for the non-Georgians who expect it to be similar to a savory beef broth like French onion soup. Georgia's onions from the Vidalia area are sweet and tasty enough to carry the soup without the help of a meat broth and the green pesto sauce offers a nice additional touch. The salmon on fresh salad was done perfectly. The panka-crusted cod with mashed potatoes and spinach was outstanding. Both were seasoned so lightly that the true flavors shone through. The portions were generous enough that dessert at the time would have been too much, but others can do as we did and take home one of the dessert choices. Next time we plan to try their sandwiches which looked yummy at other tables. Service : 5/5 Service was excellent from the pleasant greeting, through the entire meal. Our server, Clayton, couldn't have been more helpful with the menu, as well as being very efficient and amiable. He made sure our food was served promptly and our beverages glasses were full, and our requests were met quickly. The white tablecloth ambiance informs you that this isn't a fast-food experience. There are tents set aside in a more private are of the garden as a lovely venue for special events Location : This isn't a quick roadside stop next to a 6-lane highway. Even though the restaurant is convenient to dine in an Atlanta suburb, the roads to the restaurant wind and meander for a short distance through one of the prettiest neighborhoods, with a canopy of large old trees, with lovely fences, hedges, and gates lining the road. There is courteous valet parking at the front door. The restaurant is not inexpensive but it is well worth the prices paid, in our opinion.

It came hot with melted cheese on there and sauerkraut and it was a hit. It came with fries but you can actually get a different side if you want. The Reuben sandwich was very good and very filling. It wasn't overly stacked like I'm used to back where I'm from but at the same time they definitely put a nice amount of meat on there so you won't be hungry after you finish. Avocado egg rolls - I tried the avocado egg rolls and they were okay but it's not my cup of tea. Personally I don't actually like avocado and it was pretty much 90% avocado inside there. At the same time it wasn't bad. If you like avocados then this is really gonna be your bag. It comes with a really sweet, maybe a teriyaki kind of sauce, but it's actually good and it helped. I'm just not a fan of that so I can't take that away from them. Lobster bisque - the Lobster Bites were okay. It tasted just like it was supposed to. It was still very lobstery and creamy so I have to give them that. It was pretty good. I only had a little bit but at the same time I thought it was good for what it was. Overall I really really enjoyed this spot. The customer service was really good and the food was solid

It wasn't super crowded, so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was welcoming and answered all of my questions as a first-time customer. Ordered the Lobster Bisque, a glass of wine, and Fried Okra. The Lobster Bisque was amazing! I can still taste it as I am writing this and it was a definite win for me! Nothing super fancy about this place, but the vibe that night was just right for my mood. If I am ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stop by and try more of their menu offerings.
