3.5 My friends and I came here last Sunday for a late lunch. The place wasn't packed - and we gave our orders pretty quickly. I ordered the Singapore noodles. My friends ordered the Bangkok curry with tofu, veggie stir fry with tofu and a chicken sandwich (I don't remember the name). We all ordered different kinds of tea/coffee/matcha drinks as well. Now, the place wasn't packed and yet the service was really slow. They were really understaffed. When we were seated, this one lady was bringing out orders, helping out in taking orders and making drinks herself. Our food came in after 30 mins, our drinks came 10 mins later. This is my go to restaurant when I want something tasty and filling. My favorite dish is the Thai Basil fried rice. I recently tried it without the green beans since it usually would over power the space. The main reason this place gets a 4 is that the service is spotty. Some employees make you feel welcome and some would rather continue playing on their phone instead of helping you. However this happens infrequently. This is a simple fast food restaurant, just some chairs and tables. Parking in this location may be difficult. First, know that parking can be rough, there are tons of options in that plaza which comes with a lot of people and cars. However, Tin Drum is a great spot with an outdoor patio, huge windows, but not tons of tables - it wasn't full when we went, but I'm sure it gets pack at peak times. We started with veggie spring rolls which came out PIPING hot. Definitely give them some time to cool - trust me, you will burn yourself or spill it all over. I wasn't in love with the sweet & sour sauce that came with them, but I didn't know if there were other options. My bowl also came out super hot, it also has some spice to it, maybe not the best option for the spice-averse crowd. I stopped by Tim Drum on a Sunday to get some after church eats. I love the location as it's in the target shopping center. It was not too busy when I arrived as they had just opened. Lot of windows in the place for the Sun to come on in. We ate the sweet & savory sesame chicken and the teriyaki wings. The sesame chicken was sweet and savory to live up to its name. It came with broccoli and peppers and rice. The wings were crispy and good. This place was good but nothing extravagant in taste my opinion. It is a nice spot to stop at on the go. Tin Drum is my new fast food-casual spot for Asian food. I tried the Firecracker Cauliflower months ago, and that became my usual order. I'm a Ramen girl and was excited to try theirs. However, there are limited options as none of the broths are vegan-friendly, it's either pork or chicken broth. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu items, especially Jonathan! I was ordering the Firecracker Cauliflower for my Mother who is Vegan, and he informed me that there are two types to order. The original sauce is made out of a meat-based broth and then the other option is teriyaki which you can substitute for vegans. Also, there are many plant-based noodle options as well. I recently decided to be adventurous and try the Sautéed Shrimp Panang Curry, and wow! The taste and the right amount of spices were so good. They have a decently sized menu which is great because I am a huge ramen lover and my husband is not so we both were able to get what we wanted. Purely food based review: Bangkok Sweet Chili Curry - My replacement choice for the Massaman Curry which was my old favorite. Unfortunately it wasn't as good. I chose fried chicken for the meat. It was a bit dry and the rice was not as saucey. Matcha Blueberry Boba - Despite getting less sugar and less ice, it was still way too sweet. It's just their matcha with blueberry syrup. This location, this food has served me well many many times! They prove the fact that Fast food doesn't have to be trash food. Consistency over the years brings me back. I can always count on the coconut soup to soothe me along with the spring rolls stuffed with cream cheese. I'm sure their food isn't necessarily healthy but it's fresh and made to order. It's never overly crowded inside, so I can always find a seat. What I really enjoy about the location is that it is not only near Perimeter Mall but it is also near Target, TJMaxx and other favorite shopping locations. If you haven't eaten at a Tin Drum Asian Kitchen, go into your dining experience knowing that this is a fast food, Asian fusion type of restaurant. It isn't authentic. Went there twice this month, and enjoyed the food. Parking was easy to find. Tin Drum is on a corner near the roundabout, and there's lots of free street parking, and even more parking behind the restaurant and other nearby businesses. All employees wear face masks, and there is a sign posted on the door requesting that all customers wear face masks also. As soon as customers walk through the entrance, they find themselves in the queue and waiting area right in front of the order counter. Both times I've come here, the employee at the counter was very quick, efficient, professional and captured all orders correctly. Customers can order a base bowl, choose their grain (white rice, brown rice or fried rice, or a bed of spinach), and can choose to add sautéed chicken, fried chicken, tofu, double veggie, cauliflower, shrimp, beef, or a duo combination. The dining area was very clean and orderly, and was spacious enough to allow customers to distance enough from each other. A fenced outside patio is off to the side with large umbrellas providing shade for two of the tables. After placing our orders, we were given a metal number stand to place on the table so the employees know which table to bring the food to. After you're done eating and leave, the employees buss and clean the table. We waited about 10 minutes for our food to be served. The employees bring a metal fork and spoon wrapped in a napkin when they drop off the food. Like I said, the food here is more fusion and less authentic/traditional, but both of the bowls that I tried (so far) have been very tasty. The first time I dined here, I ordered the little spicy basil mango bowl with sautéed chicken. Included in this bowl were onion, bell pepper, jalapeño, basil, mango and white rice. Everything was cooked perfectly! The onion and bell pepper were still a little crunchy, and the basil and mango weren't wilted or mushy, either. Perfect! This bowl had a slightly sweet flavor, and the jalapeño added a hint of heat. The chicken was white meat, and didn't have a "dry" texture. The second time I ate here, I ordered the Bangkok sweet chili curry with sautéed chicken. This time, the bowl included coconut milk, spinach, toasted peanut and white rice. I loved how all of the flavors came together, although, honestly, I was very curious how this bowl was going to taste. The coconut milk added a little sweetness and the uncooked spinach provided a leafy and slight veggie crunch. Out of these two bowls that I've had, I prefer the more flavorful little spicy basil mango bowl. Fast, flavorful Asian fusion is what you're going to get here! Portion sizes are a little generous, and prices are very reasonable. read more

Atmosphere and people are awesome. Delicious boba drinks. The miso soup has an absolutely insane amount of chili oil. I felt like I was drinking oil. I tried to soak the oil up with napkins like a pizza but it's soup so it doesn't really work like that. I like spicy food so the spice wasn't an issue for me personally, it was the feeling of swallowing oil. Please if you work here and you are reading this be more gentle with the chili oil. Drinking oil does not feel good. It tastes good, but my stomach is gurgling. I ate the soup because I was hungry and oil is edible and tastes good. The empty bowl was peppered with tiny red oil bubbles after I drank all the soup. There's probably a tsp of oil just in the empty bowl. I have never seen so much oil in a bowl of miso soup. Maybe I'm being dramatic - if you're reading this and have had the experience of drinking this soup please let me know if you feel the same way. Anyways the flavors were good. But I wanted to mention Taj, who I felt went above and beyond for us. Brought us togo containers for our food and I was being extra by asking him for a bag of ice to put in my togo bag since it would sit in my car for a couple hours. He found a nice size bag to put the ice in which I was so grateful for because he could've easily said no we don't do that. However, there is not a Yelp option for Decatur. Anyways, The Decatur location actually offers Boba Tea. This was the first time I ever tried Boba Tea so I was a little hesitant about it at first. I got over that shortly after when I realized what I've been missing. I also tried a plethora of dishes since this was my first time at Tin Drum and my favorite and highly recommended dish is the Wings and the Firecracker Cauliflower. You would NEVER guess that what you're eating is Cauliflower because the texture is so on point that it actually taste like chicken!!! It's super good you have to try it. Very unique franchise.....you don't often see experimental Asian cuisines in America that's targeting trendy, open-minded eaters. The firecracker cauliflower is almost like the Gobi Manchurian....an indo-chinese dish, but not saucy and more crunchy. The mango basil chicken was also superb. I'm visiting from San Diego and I would take this over Panda Express, P.F. Chang's, Pei Wei or Great Wall Express...which are all just bland Asian food for typical Americans. Came here today for the first time in years. I ordered the Chicken Curry and the Tempura Cauliflower. The staff was really nice and they managed to have my food really pretty quickly despite the lunch time crowd. Both tasted pretty good. However, they were really greasy. The curry had a really buttery taste. I ordered it because I wanted something colorful and not as heavy but this item didn't taste healthy at all. We went to this location early on a Saturday and there were no customers inside, but the staff was all ready to go and with masks on. We ordered the spring rolls, Saigon salad, Citrus Teriyaki Glaze Chicken and Panko Katsu Chicken. I was pleased with this meal. I found the spring roll crispy on the outside and NOT mushy on the inside. For the life of me I can't understand why it's so hard to locate a decent spring roll that is not a mushy, unidentifiable mess on the inside when you bite into it. Why is it hard? Anyway, these, at this fast food resto, were better than some at sit down, white table cloth establishments that boast real and authentic, fresh Asian cuisine. The Saigon salad was light and refreshing with a marvelous dressing that I loved. Also delightful were both chicken dishes. Everything was crispy, hot, and fresh just like I like my meals to be. The portion sizes were okay, not as large as others in comparison, but it's plenty enough. Also, they were good with ensuring all supplies and extra sauces etc. were included in the bags (it was a to-go order). When we went, they had some inside tables portioned off to help patrons maintain distance. The staff was very nice and welcoming. So, for a quick, good Asian meal you can add Tin Drum to your list of viable options. The flavor wasn't strong but it was noticeable - meaning don't expect to be wowed but you'll be able to tell what they're aiming for with a dish. They do have thai tea which is a plus for them. I was also pleased that my food came out piping hot, just the way I like it! Clean eating! This is one of the few places in Atlanta that didn't give me a tummy ache later. Disclaimer: That is not to say that food in Atlanta is a dud. Total opposite! I am not accustomed to eating so much delicious rich food in such a short span of time. When I am in Atlanta, I am reaching for the types of meals I generally cannot find back in Tucson. Now, back to Tin Drum. This place has a fast food feel. It doesn't have a distinctive ambiance. Think Chipotle for Mexican food. But it doesn't matter either. Either you are ordering for a quick bit to eat in, or you are taking it to go. I've had the benefit of trying the sesame chicken, pad Thai, mango chicken and coconut soup. I found that the sesame chicken was quite tasty! I loved the broccoli and, actually, had began craving more of the vegetable mid way through the meal. Fine job there. The mango chicken was OK. You couldn't pick up on the mango flavor, sadly. So it tasted more on the scale toward orange chicken. The coconut soup had an amazing, full flavor. Very round and luscious. But it was so thin. I chose to drink it as through it were water. There were nice bits of mushroom and scallions included. The pad Thai...*sigh* I would not recommend this dish. It had, like, no flavor. Like, none at all! That was quite surprising. But I would give them another go. The food was fairly light compared to other Americanized Chinese eats. And there were plenty of leftovers. read more

Okay, so I have gone back many times since my review and I must say it just kept getting better and better for me .. I have been on a pad thai with tofu kick lately and this place definitely satisfies my craving every single time. Firstly, the price is reasonable. Secondly, their cold teas are my absolute favorite! I do a half and half of their unsweetened jasmine tea and pomegranate tea and it is most definitely my MOST FAVORITE drink in the world. Pad thai with tofu and a splash if the sri racha was great! As far as customer service, I LOVE it! Every single time, they have been very nice and thoughtful. For example, once, hubby and I decided to just split one entree and briefly mentioned it to the cashier. It then came to our table in two smaller bowls. We didnt even request for it to be split, but they thoughtfully split it anyway. Also, when one of their co-workers overheard a conversation between hubby and i, and how he shouldve gotten chicken instead of tofu, they sent chicken to our table anyway without us asking for it. So for that, thanks to the employee Chris for being so thoughtful! The next time we came, the guys remembered us and thoughtfully asked if we would like to put our entree in a split bowl like the last time... AGAIN without having to ask for it. This place is mall food court quality food (at best). Got the shrimp and chicken. The shrimp was really sad, less than mall quality. Just low quality shrimp, not very fresh. At least it was cooked right. Chicken is that mushy, frozen chicken strips, probably processed meat. Sauce is too sweet, broccoli was fresh but ruined by swimming in the sugar sauce. The side order of chili string beans was good, but everything was too expensive for this quality. I did not feel so well after eating it. The food is unfortunate, because the service is very good here. The kids working here were very nice, smart and fast, unlike the kids working at some other places nearby. read more
