Caprese Sandwich
Melissa L.

Our family dined in this historical building in Holland, Texas. The restaurant was super cute, mom and Pop Italian restaurant. I ordered the Caprese sandwich which was made with woodfired bread. That was absolutely amazing. The fresh slice mozzarella cheese was drizzled with balsamic vinegar, tomatoes, and arugula. It was so scrumptious! my sister shared some of her Italian salad with me before my sandwich arrived, and that was very good and hearty with Housemade dressing,l and fresh Italian meat. I ordered the apple cider margarita cocktail that was spiced wonderfully for the season, served with a dehydrated apple slice on top. I love this restaurant and look forward to going back in the future and trying a different dish.

Cute little place in Holland. The service was quick and the pizza was okay, the crust is thin and fire roasted- reminds me a little of the pizza you get on a cruise ship. Seating is very limited, but there is a bar available.

The food is okay, there is a limited menu. Service is horrible, with a side of attitude from a teenage girl. The only nice employee is the young man behind the bar. Even the manager/owner was rude when I told him that I waited for my pizza, and then when the server finally realized who the pizza belonged to she slapped it on the table and walked away without a word. Customer service speaks volumes in a small town. EVERYTHING is self service, silverware, plates, napkins, water(if it's working). One positive best thing about the restaurant is that the bartender is friendly. It's not likely we will be back.

Affogato (gelato with espresso) EXCELLENT!

Great pizza! Great salads! Great lasagna! Great gelato! Our family comes here regularly and it's really good!

This is a cute spot in the midst of a town with limited options. The interior is nicely decorated and welcoming, although we weren't quite sure what the overall theme was between the food and the photos on the walls? You order at the counter and can leave your tab open. Since it was our first visit, we were still figuring out how everything worked. The girl at the counter told us to order there and sit wherever we'd like, which was fine. I asked for a glass of water, and she said they didn't have that, then walked off to deliver an order before taking my husband's drink request. Once she returned, I ordered a sparkling water since that was the only option visible. As we walked away, she casually mentioned there was a water station at the end of the bar. I'm sorry what? I just asked for a glass of water and she said they didn't have that, but I walked to the end of the bar and sure enjoy there is a station for glasses of ice water? Our appetizer came out fairly quickly. When the server dropped it off, she asked if we needed anything else, and I said yes, napkins and silverware. It turns out there's a self-serve station for those items near the register, but we hadn't noticed it since it was our first time. A simple mention from the staff would've gone a long way in making the experience smoother. We arrived around 5:40 PM and later noticed a sign outside that said Happy Hour 3:30-6:00. It would've been nice if the bartender had mentioned that when we ordered, as we were still within that time window. Overall, it seems like this place may assume people already knows how things work, which can make first-time guests feel a bit lost. That said, the food was delicious and fresh, the atmosphere was charming, and the restaurant (including the bathrooms) was very clean. I'd definitely give it another try now that I know what to expect. This was my birthday choice for dinner so I was disappointed, but as stated, the food was good.

Go there now! Amazing authentic Italian pizza with a fantastic atmosphere and flavorful food. The broccolini pizza was the perfect mix of green veg, lemon zest & fresh jalapeno, we'll get this every time. The Margherita was a spot on classic. The chef was so friendly and welcoming, we can't wait to go back. We found our new favorite spot, definitely worth the drive!

Their egg bites with grits, sausage, and poblano peppers ended up being my favorite part of the visit: flavorful, hearty, and perfect for a quick breakfast. The shop is open seven days a week and opens early, which is super convenient for travelers passing through or locals who need a morning stop before work. It's right off Highway 35 and Main Street, easy to pull into whether you're coming from Salado or nearby Belton. They also offer a drive-thru, which is an added bonus. For anyone traveling with pets, there's outdoor seating that makes it a great stop with dogs. The decor inside and out is modern farmhouse chic: clean, stylish, and welcoming. Service was a bit mixed during my visit. One employee seemed like she didn't really want to be there, which made the interaction feel a little off, but another was extremely friendly and helpful, so it balanced out. Overall, a convenient and charming stop with good drinks, tasty food, and a great location. I'd definitely return, especially for the chai and those egg bites!

I visited 1914 Coffee House and understand why this place has delicious coffee options…read more From the moment you walk in, it feels less like a coffee shop and more like a welcoming home. This renovated historic house gives the entire space a cozy, peaceful atmosphere. There are couches, comfortable seating, and quiet corners perfect for studying. You can catch up with friends, or simply slow down for a bit. Outside there is a playground and picnic tables for family time. I love this! The restrooms are clean. That's always a plus in my book! One for boys and one for girls! What really caught my attention was the prayer wall. It adds such a thoughtful and uplifting touch to the environment and makes the space feel genuinely community-centered. You can tell this isn't just a business. It's a place where people come to connect, reflect, and encourage one another. The Christian atmosphere is subtle but meaningful, and it contributes to the calm and welcoming vibe throughout the coffee house. And of course, the coffee was excellent. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and carefully made. The pastries were good too. The cruffins and baked goods deserve every compliment. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. If you're anywhere near Temple, Texas, and looking for a coffee shop. This should be your one stop.
