Dr. Zand ruined my life! one of the biggest regrets of my life was coming here. During my treatment, two of my main teeth were extracted my two lateral incisor!! and despite having braces with her twice, which she charged me a lot $$$$! the gaps never never properly closed. Years later, I am still dealing with the consequences and have had to spend thousands of dollars on additional dental work. I removed my braces in 2008, at the age of 15, after having Dr. Zand as my orthodontist. She had me remove FOUR teeth (2 of the top premolars, 2 of the bottom premolars). At the time, I was only 13 and Dr. Zand said that I have "crowding" and she MUST remove those 4 teeth in order for my teeth to be straightened. I was referred to another surgical dentist to remove them. He refused. He said "these are 4 perfectly healthy teeth what is your crazy orthodontist thinking??" So we found someone else to do it. I regret not to listening to him after all these years. I feel like my smile has shrunk, and it's something I've been self conscious about all these years. It kind of makes me feel like my chin started to protrude a little bit too. Fast forward to now at the age of 28, I made an appointment with another dentist to get veneers, because I had SO many cavities in between all my teeth after getting my braces removed. My dentist from back in 2008 straight up told me "is your orthodontist blind? You've had these cavities for about 2 years now. She was supposed to refer you to get them fixed when you went in to her office every month to get the braces tightened." Well, apparently Dr. Zand gave 0 shits because I had deep cavities I needed to fix as a result of my orthodontist ignoring them for 2 years. That's why I made the decision to once and for all get veneers and finally have the smile I've always wanted after all these years and all the thousands of dollars spent. I wish Yelp existed when I was 13 and someone had left this review for me and my parents to read. If I can influence just one person to not go to this greedy, terrible office, then the time I put into this review was worth it. I came to this ortho years ago and I still regret my decision. She completely butchered my teeth along with the teeth of a handful of people that I know who also went here. This definitely is not professional work. She does not understand how to align the teeth according to the structure of your face or to fix the jaw to enhance the face. After pulling out 4 teeth, i have gaps all over due to the excess room she believed the wisdom teeth would fill. All my teeth slant inwards. I came here to read reviews because i am a week away from getting braces a second time in my 30s. The first was in my teen years with dr. Zand. I read other reviews to see if people had the same experience and honestly became outraged by dr Zands responses to her patients. Here's what happened with me: I had a large over bite and was told by dr Zand that In order to fix it, I would have to have 2 healthy canines removed. I was 14 and didn't know better so I agreed. What irks me about this now is that several other patients report this same suggestion on her part, of which she denies and insists is a rare recommendation to remove canines. After quite some time of having the braces I started to notice a cross bite. How did I realize at 15/16 years old that things weren't going right? My bottom teeth were being crashed into by my top tooth's bracket. It was very uncomfortable and concerning. Fast forward another couple of years, I asked if I can please have the braces removed because I had become so tired of the trips to her office, which always entailed long waits in the waiting room. Not mention 4 years of metal in my mouth. She agreed to take them off telling me the cross bite was no big deal and could be fixed with retainers. Well, a year of adjustments to my retainers later, still no fix. So yes, I gave up before she fixed the problem, although I doubt she ever could have. Like others report, I also have minor gaps and overall my teeth look like they are going inward. And of course, still have that cross bite I mentioned, of which I've suffered jaw pain and headaches from. I paid $4k back in 2002-2006, so I can't even say it was a bargain. I'm now paying for $4k again to a different orthodontist. It will be worth it though, if it could end the nightmare that dr Zand started. Thanks for nothing dr. Zand. P.s. I too dealt with Evita the receptionist and clearly recall what dr Zand looks like. Before Dr. Zand, I had no hope that I would ever feel comfortable and confident with my smile, but she changed that all. I had a terrible underbite, one in which multiple other orthodontists recommended I got surgery. Luckily, I came across Dr. Zand who said I did not need surgery at all. She immediately took me in and had high hopes for me. I'm not usually one to talk about experiences in my life, but this one is definitely life changing and worth the share. ZAND AT ALL COSTS. ------------------------------------------------ I arrived at Dr. Zand's full of hope-- she was recommended to me by my much beloved dentist, with full knowledge that I only wanted to close the gap in my bottom teeth. I probably should have just kept on driving when I originally mistook the front of her office for a Mexican restaurant. Some instincts should never be ignored. When I entered, the slightly dark & dingy waiting room was completely packed. I took this as a good sign of business quality, and patiently waited my turn. I gotta give kudos to the front office staff-- despite the rest of my experience with Dr. Zand, the front desk lady was incredibly kind, attentive, and wonderful. Here's hoping she becomes an orthodontist one day, because she would be a pleasure to see. After a very short wait, I was called into one of the rooms to wait for Dr. Zand. A few minutes later, she walked in and just kinda stared at me for a moment. Eventually she introduced herself in a manner that made me feel like she wanted to be somewhere else, and then put on a pair of gloves and asked to look in my mouth. Now, I know I don't have a perfect bite to say the least. However, I've been happy with my smile with the exception of my gap. This is why I wanted the minimal amount of work. She looked inside of my mouth, and then said bluntly that I needed a full set of braces, asked me if I had insurance, and then quoted me a price. I'm not giving you an abridged version of the conversation-- that was the extent of our dialogue. She never fully explained what she saw with my teeth, never once asked me what I wanted, what I was interested in, etc. Nothing. I then tried to politely explain that I simply wanted to fix my bottom teeth. Somehow she became even more rude, telling me such gems as "You'll never have a pretty smile unless you get full braces", "You're not using all your teeth correctly so you're going to lose them", etc. I fully expect for doctors to give me their full opinion when making a diagnosis, but I've never had a professional talk to me with such disdain and general lack of concern for my opinion, needs, or situation. I had walked in fully expecting to sign up for a year of bottom braces, but... I really felt that if I did decide to undergo braces with her, she would not have any concern for my well being, and would simply want to move me in and out for the money. It certainly felt like she was in a rush. When it comes to considering a year long commitment such as this, I want a doctor that cares about me as a patient and is willing to bring his concerns to me in a reasonable manner, while still trying to work with my situation. I highly recommend Dr. Zand to all my friends. I couldn't be happier with the results I got from her. She has been great with the service since she started. I came to see her two and a half years ago and I couldn't be more excited about the outcome :) The first day I came to see her she examined my teeth and explained the steps I had to take. I got my X-Rays and paid $600 the first time for the start up fee. The next week I was already with braces. The whole process was a pain in the butt but worth it. A quick advice, if your reading her reviews, read those the patients gave and not the parents. There is a HUGE difference in waiting in the waiting room and sitting in her uncomfortable chair. If you're thinking about coming here because it cheaper, trust me when I say that you'll spend more time and money after fixing the mistakes made here. Her office is outdated and uncomfortable. Its 2017, I am 27 years old and one of my New Years Resolutions was to fix my teeth this year. I tried looking up every single method other than getting braces, my teeth however were saying otherwise. My teeth were so bad that you would never find a picture of me smiling. I had made appointments with several different places for a consultation l, after visiting Dr.Zand I canceled the other appointments and knew where I'd be getting work done. I trusted her from the get-go, she was honest, told me what I needed to have done, how long it would take, and how much it would cost all at once. Transparency and trust is very important for me when making business decisions. Not to get into too many details, but the top portion of my mouth was too narrow and I needed an expander placed as well. (I know, I told you I had bad teeth) Fast forward. I was treated by Dr Zand for almost 3 years. Getting braces as an adult can be very intimidating and brings its own separate challenges but I have yet to regret the day I got them. The process was simple and Dr Zand always kept me informed of my progress. She took special care of me while I was pregnant and under treatment to make sure I was comfortable. Dr Zand's staff also deserves a lot of credit in making this your go-to place for ortho treatment... Evita always accommodated my schedule and would call me to remind me of my appointments or if there was earlier availability. Yeah... So I got braces from her along time ago. I recently went to see a Maxillofacial Surgeon for a consult to fix my underbite. I had braces on for two years with her, and the last couple of months I broke a couple of brackets. This frustrated her, so instead of finishing her job and fixing my bite, she told me she didnt want to deal with it any more and removed my braces. I was obviously elated at the time (I was twelve years old) but it has haunted me ever since. Seeing other peoples reviews of her confirms my suspicions. She is bad at what she does. I have been coming to Dr Zand for two years now. I have never experienced any problems with anything here. I could not believe the change I have had to my teeth since coming here. I used to have a major under bite and Dr Zand fixed that. I have a crazy work schedule and Dr Zand has always been very flexible, she has even offered to stay later past closing time to help me out. I have nothing but good things to say about this place, customer service is excellent and I recommend it. I also know the quality of work is great even though I hate wearing my rubber bands. My biggest mistake ever to choose Dr. Zand as my orthodontist. Her method of treatment is not beneficial for the patient's health at all. She recommended me pulling two of my healthy teeth in order to do braces, the period she promised me to finish the treatment was not correct and she started to extend it and charged me for the extension period as well. every month I was asking her when it was going to finish and she didn't know and finally I asked her just to pull out my braces after 3.5 years without doing a perfect job on my teeth. When I visited my general dentist after braces, I was told my teeth roots are shortened due to worse orthodontic treatment and my front teeth were all tracked. Now I need to do veneers. Dr. Zand is a professional to the extreme. Orthodontistry is assuredly one of the most challenging professions, technically and emotionally. In the last year and a half, I have watched a miracle with my own teeth: I am 42 and am finally 6 months away from having perfectly straight teeth. My entire life I was afraid to smile and had adopted habits in communication to hide my teeth. That is no way to live. I am saddened to say I was looking forward to going to Dr Zand as I think she is in the offices where I had my Dr in the 70's, and being referred to her. After doing a LOT of research of several of Orthodontists in Burbank, her reviews are horrendous. None of the other Dr's received complaints on yelp. I am sorry to see the retorts from the Dr, she is not well, or more so continuing to not "Do as the Romans do". Dr Zand, your in America. This behavior is not consistent with American values. With this many negative posts, I cannot imagine her business staying open for long. Yelp is going to get her... as it yells the truth..she won't hide for to much longer. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. I went in for a consultation after a former roommate referred Dr. Zand to me. I specifically asked for Invisalign because I'm in my 20s and don't want to have braces. Dr. Zand quoted my $3000 for them. When I went back a week later, she had written down $3500 in the contract, already robbing me of my $500. I signed a two year contract for Invisalign for $3500. A few months later, I realized she's been giving me some generic "Invisalign" the whole time that she says she makes herself and are "much better." The Invisalign she gave me was bubbly and terrible looking! There was no way I can even wear them in public, so I ended up only wearing them when I was off work. She would give me new ones every 2-3 months, whereas Invisalign requires you to get replacements every 2 weeks. I confronted her about it and she convinced me these were better. I told her that after 2 years, as long as my teeth are straight, I don't care. Fast forward 3 years. My teeth literally look the same. Maybeeeeee 5% improvement. I went back to Dr. Zand to get a refund and go elsewhere. She then began begging me to try braces. So great, now I'm 25 and getting braces. Thank you Dr. Zand for making me do the exact opposite of what I asked for. I agreed to braces for 6 months and she said she was giving me a deal by charging me $500 for it. (Now we're up $4000, when she typically charges $2500 for braces). I reluctantly went in to get my top braces, which are clear so at least they don't look so bad. A month later, I went in to get my bottom braces put on. I was told to go to the bathroom and rinse, and what do I see?!?! A mouth full of metal!!! She insists she told me repeatedly that the bottom braces would be metal. I've never been so upset, felt so ripped off and so cheated in my entire life. Do yourself and your pocket a favor and stay away. Pay a little extra and go somewhere that actually cares about their reputation. When I stepped into her office a few years ago, I had envisioned myself to have a perfect smile at 25. This place is a disgusting excuse for a medical office. Fast forward now. I'm 27, gap still in my teeth, have horrendous excuse for a retainer, out $4000, and need to go to another orthodontist and start all over. I know multiple patients who have demanded their money back. The staff is friendly, which is a plus when you're in agonizing pain after your monthly visit. Honestly I get so heated just thinking about the amount of time I wasted at her office. Ugh it makes me so mad. HORRIBLE service. I had to wait at least an hour each time I went for my braces. Sometimes it took at least two hours just to be called in to sit inside for another thirty minutes until someone came just for a ten minute tightening (she wouldn't even do it, her assistants would do it while chatting with each other). When I think about how much time I've wasted at her office just waiting it gets me so mad.. Anyway after I got my braces off, she said the retainers would take one week.. I called to see if they're ready a week later she said it takes two weeks.. After two weeks I called and it was still not ready. Three weeks later I finally got my retainers back but by this time my teeth became crooked again.. I literally had the retainers in my mouth 24/7 and would only take it out when I ate then I would brush my teeth and put it back on. A couple weeks after I continuously put my retainers on I complained that my teeth were still crooked (since she gave it to me three weeks late) and that the retainers weren't doing anything. She just said that I'm not wearing it enough. -.- I seriously wanted to slap her cause I'm very responsible when it comes to things like that. Ughh.. Anyway I got tired of going to her office and waiting for her to look at it and my teeth we're going back to the way they were before so I decided to get Invisalign. And now I'm happy :) but I regret going to her for braces.. I should've just stuck to Invisalign cause it takes half the time and i didn't waste that much time in an office just waiting since my dentist's service is great. Oh and the retainers she gave me were like the ugliest things ever and they were honestly sooooo cheap like I could bend it however I wanted to.. And I know retainers are ugly in general (well not the Invisalign ones lol) but a lot of orthodontists gave out nicer and better quality retainers.. read more

DO NOT GO HERE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY! Not only I wasted my money but I was super displeased with the results. It's been couple of years now since they took off my braces and there's still a gap between my canine teeth (she ordered one canine from left and right to be taken out). When I told her about my concern she simply said not to worry, the gap will close over time. IT NEVER DID. When my braces were taken off I confronted her, she simply said that she can send me to her son who can fix the gap problem (her children are also in the dentistry profession). Made me feel like I was a walking piggy bank (not only I paid more than 3,000 for my braces but now she wanted to send me to her son do he could make some money).
