I don't really know how to describe Farrngton's. I came here with a group of friends after having dinner across the street at Sichuan Fortune House (4 stars!). It was 10pm on a Tuesday night, so a pretty light crowd. There's a set of booths in what looks like a VIP section area, but I think its really designed as a viewing area for those that want to watch the set of TVs that are in that vicinity. In any case, we decided to sit there so all 10 of could cluster together, and we joked about how we looked like the Triad, since we are all Asian, and everyone else was Caucasian. I had a great time there, largely due to the company. My friend was buying drinks chatted it up with the friendly bartender, who even gave them samples of shots/drinks to try as they decided what they wanted to order (we were trying to be creative on what we consumed that night because everyone had to work the next day). The place itself was fun. I give it three stars cuz it has potential, but I don't know what it is until I come back on a busier night. read more

It's a dive bar in Pleasant Hill, but a pretty big one. There are some pool tables, but usually taken by the locals. And TVs to watch your favorite sporting events. This was our after-work hang out spot years back, but we stopped coming here after one of our friends got jumped in the parking lot near closing time. James is the WORST bartender ever! Every time I come here he ignores people at the bar. If there is a girl blinking her eye lashes he runs to her, flirts and doesn't pay any attention to his customers. He should have BEEN FIRED!! You can't go to Farrington's and not have a good time. YES-there is always some young, drunk fool who will pick a fight when his lady-friend gets oogled-but that is par for the course anywhere drinking mixes with a crowd. Friday & Saturday night (Thursday, too on occasion) there is Karaoke then a DJ-which is always good people-watching if nothing else. This is Pleasant Hill's version of the Sunshine Saloon (located in Pleasanton, CA). A bit smaller, but the same vibe! We showed up around 10-ish on a Friday night, and the karaoke singing was in full effect! Some good, some bad. Don't know if they had N*Sync or BSB even though one of my friends (yes, a dude) wanted to scream his lungs out to some boy band song. This was after his 2nd beer. After a bit, the karaoke singing was done, and the DJ started spinnin' some tunes. Good music. They play a bit of everything, from hip-hop club hits to good ol' bar songs like "Living on a Prayer." There were all types of people on the dance floor now. Some good, some bad. Oh yeah, and I saw a fight outside afterwards. From what the regulars tell me, this sort of thing happens everytime. So for you rookies out there, don't park so close to the bar. You don't want two guys wrestling near your Ford F150. read more

I grew up in Pleasant Hill, and moved before I was 21. On a trip back to visit, we popped in to have a cocktail. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is giant on the inside. Exactly what a strip-mall bar should be. Until today I would have given it a 4 star review. What changed it to a 5 star? I drank something other than a beer. It was a little before 11am, the Original pancake house had a 20 minute wait and I was thirsty. I was enjoying the fact it was a holiday Monday that I actually had off from work. The young girls I was with (21 years old) were game for a early morning drink. I had beer on my mind but they reminded me of the joys of the bloody mary. This was a 5 star bloody mary. It was strong, made to order with all the right ingredients. The bartender believed us when we said we wanted it spicy. I loved seeing the horseradish in it and the pickled asparagus was a perfect garnish. We drank the drinks quickly and made our way back over to eat pancakes. Ehh.... came here with a friend yesterday just wanting to find a good bar in the Pleasant Hill area. The bar tenders are nice and they definitely know the 'regulars'. Food is not available but people seem to order from Mountain Mike, Thai, Sushi place next door and they are encouraged to bring the food in. Two things that stood out last night, some dudes got into a shouting match and the Bartender had to break it up and well there's Juliana... I did get mildly harassed by this regular named Juliana... she was touching all the patrons at the bar. A group of us went here on a Thursday night for a farewell party. It was slow on Thursday night and the clientele wasn't too bad. There was plenty of seating and is good for large groups. The pool tables and darts weren't shabby, either. They have lots of beer on tap - I love beer. Score. They don't have pitchers? WTF? Fail. There's lots of TVs with various ball games on. Score. I like something salty to go with my beer. I was expecting peanuts or some kind of salty mix. When I asked, all they had were chips - nacho cheese doritos...in snack size bags. Fail. We also ordered some washington apples and other drinks at the end - which were pretty good. Overall, this place was decent. Except for one female bartender, this place is hard to love. It's a local yokel drunkard's bar. No food, just booze. Very well priced booze so that helps a lot. It's large with pool tables so if bar pool is your thing this is the place for you. Ages 21 to 85 are there getting drunk. It gets younger and sluttier later at night but this is not a dream girl haven by any measure. It's great for cheap beer and being antisocial. Farringtons is a cool local hang out. It's located near the Safeway. There is a plenty of available parking. The crowd is cool !! There are young and old. Many regulars. They have an area to dance and have some coo music. Pools table around back. Bar and table/booth seating. The staff is friendly and seem to enjoy being there. They make great drinks and they are not over priced. They often have parties and themes. This is a great place to enjoy and have fun!!! read more

Location Location! Right next to safeway and more importantly, NATIONS so you can have a post drunken snack after hitting the bars. It's a pretty large bar on one side, and the other has pool tables and darts. Their bathrooms, however were pretty clean! I am quite impressed. Right I just called and confirmed that Friday and Saturday's are the only day's with a $5 cover charge. Not bad. I've enjoyed dancing here in the past and its very easy to ask the DJ to play a specific song which I like. Several pool tables and dart boards give options for everyone. Its a dive bar, I've met some great people here and there are some scums. I think its lots of fun on a Friday/Saturday night. Not really the place you go to dress up but fun busy atmosphere. I LOVE this place! I don't go there much lately because I've moved out of the area but any chance I get to stop in when I come thru the area, I jump at it. It's a huge bar and has a whole lot of TVs so it's a great place to go for the game. There's plenty of seats around the bar as well as booths all with a great view of a TV. If the game you want isn't on, just ask the bartender and they'll change the channel on a TV near you so you can watch! There's also a game room with darts, pool and shuffleboard. The bartenders are all great and really nice. I prefer the suits and sun-burnt happy hour gang and they have good happy hour specials. They don't serve food but you can bring in your own and eat anywhere. Sometimes they will bring in food for an event but what they do serve and I highly recommend trying, is hot dogs. These are the best damn hot dogs I've ever had and I don't know where they get them but they ROCK! I'm not much of a hot dog fan but these are damn good and they have all the fixin's! They also have pop corn sometimes too. There's a juke box that stays pretty up to date but beware of the happy hour because there's a lotta blue color types that like their old school stuff. Sometimes they just have the radio on too, so be sure to ask if you can switch to juke box if that's what you hear. Thursday nights they bring in a karaoke DJ and charge a cover but it includes a drink ticket too. This place is your all American, neighborhood bar. I wouldn't call it a "dive" but you'll see a wide range of patrons here. Other details - the bathrooms are really nice and clean usually, there's an ATM by the front door and they sell smokes at the bar. Tip for those that need it, they are tight ass about where you can and can't smoke so just go as far away from the door or smoke in the back so you don't get pissed by getting yelled at every 2 minutes. Also, cops regularly roll thru that parking lot, looking for drunks and running plates on the cars, so park over by Safeway or the bank instead. read more

Horrible smell, I'm not sure how ppl can stand going there every wknd. Drinks taste nasty, the svc is not the same as when I first started going there 4 yrs ago. The guy bartender was rude and trying to show out in front of some customers and flung a can with fluids in it (energy drink), didn't apologize, thought it was funny, I felt like grabbing it and throwing the can at his face, but I ended up just throwing it back across the bar as he did and the security guard just looked at me. $5 is too much cover for that place! read more

Farringtons is my favorite local bar. It's super chill and you have a good time. I love to dance and thats why I go there. Fridays and saturdays are the best nights to go. I went to Farrington's no too long ago and it was the first time that I had gone. I took my best friend who was visiting from San Diego and of course the boyfriend. We arrived at the perfect time because there wasn't a ton of people there yet so we were able to get a table. Soon after the crowd rolled in and the party began. I won't go here by choice anymore. Thought is was cool the first visit. Not any more. Let's dig deeper, shall we? So, let's get one thing clear...This is not a bad place if it weren't for the people. Been here twice now and it seems to be worse. It appears fight's are an issue at this bar because they have a some janke dress code now. I was asked to turn my ball cap around to face forwards 3 times. Why 3 times, cause I was having fun, shooting some pool and forgot to turn it back. They also told 2 of my buddies they can't wear beanies. Ok, why? They literally took little pieces of cardboard and fashioned tiny bills for their beanies to meet the "dress code". Why is there a bunch of security roaming around telling people about this lame dress code? What difference does it really make anyway? I suppose it's the crowd of punks that cause trouble, but I don't know. I was there with a group of about 20 co-workers to say farewell to one of us. No trouble from us. There would have been 20 field techs up someone's ass if someone wanted trouble. No, just hanging out. Farrington's can shove their dress code and the punk-ass clientele. On the good side, I had been there where I hadn't heard a thing from security. I guess not wearing anything upon one's head would be the first thing to note. They have 4 pool tables, which is nice. There's a few tv's about with various games on, which is also nice. 2 dart boards if you're up for that. They have 2 hours of karaoke that could be cool. The KJ was uptight and didn't know anything. A song listed 4 times in the book and you don't know why either? Come on now. The drinks are pretty average. I've seen 2 to 3 bartenders working at once. After 9pm or so, it's hard to get in to order a drink. They have one dude that really hustles there, and I like getting orders from him if possible. Other that that, it's a lot of work to get drinks as the night goes on. read more

I'm giving this place 1 star, but only because I can't seem to give it 0. And, I need to explain a little. During the afternoon, on say a Tuesday when there's baseball on, this place is fine. A little over-priced and under-stocked, but you're in suburbia and your choices are limited, so it's OK. A very average bar experience. However, the weekend evening scene overshadows any mediocrity for me, and that scene is just plain bad. First off, only a complete cretin would pay a cover charge for a bar with a jukebox in a strip mall shopping center in Pleasant Hill- and this bar manages to attract just the right folks for the job! Heaps of idiots everywhere you turn. Worse, however, is the 'dress code'. It's arbitrary, not equally enforced, and utterly pointless. My belief is that its purpose is simply to give the numerous bouncers plenty of opportunities to piss off the patrons. Anyway, bottom line is that this place is LAME! read more

Trashy! Very loud you can barely talk to anyone and crazy cramped. Maybe I went on a bad night but it was just yuck.

This place has the potential to be cool, and maybe it is for the right set of people, however I have the following complaints: 1) The bar area smells like rotting drain fodder, you know like old wet food that somebody puked into, and then poured a stale beer on. 2) This place is not an "Irish Pub" for a variety of reasons, the most important of which is that neither bartender knew how to properly pour a Guinness. It's not an obscure talent or bastion of blarney beer snobs. Proof can be found at my local Buffalo Wild Wings where a girl who looks like she's fresh out of high school knows that you pour 2/3 of the way, let it rest, then top it off. It makes a difference okay. This place also lacks any aesthetic that usually characterizes an Irish Pub. Take down that shamrock!! 3) Considering the location (strip mall next to Safeway) and the divey vibe, $6 a beer seems a little steep for a Sunday afternoon. Ever heard of happy hour? Where I come from this is the type of bar you can catch a buzz at without breaking the bank. 4) I went in to watch a football game and most of the TVs weren't working. Luckily one that was working happened to be on the right channel, but when I ask if we could get some sound on it I was told that the controller "wasn't working very well" and it became immediately clear that the bartender had no interest in trying to resolve the problem. 5) Couple of dudes sat next to me, one of whom was extremely douchy as he was annoyed that I was rooting for a team that he didn't like and made pitiful and pathetic attempts to hit on all the bar tenders. At one point he muttered under his breath to his buddy "A guy wore a Seahawks jersey in here the other day and I was like, are you trying to get your ass kicked? hahaha" Guess I can't blame Farrington's for that though. Perhaps I came on a rough day at the office for everyone involved, but my sense is that this place could reap huge benefit from just a touch more effort. read more

This is my go-to bar. If it's a weeknight and my girls and I want to go out for a couple drinks....we end up at Farringtons. If it's a weekend and we've been barhopping...we end up at Farringtons. The reasons I like so much: Plenty of parking Starbucks right there A bunch of flatscreens (great for watching games) Pool tables & Dartboard Clean & maintained bathrooms and of course.... the fact that you can go grub down on some Nations at the end of your night. There is a $5 cover charge which we didn't know but now we do! Go to Safeway and buy your own liquor first / pregrame for sure cuz it's expensive here for the quality of drinks.. The people who worked there were a little rude but also attentive so I can't complain too much. I wanted to dance but the music wasn't good dancing music maybe that was a good thing though lol. it would be better with more seating like more tables for groups. but overall I see how other people like it. This is a chill place to go to, but NOT my first choice. I live literally walking distance away from this bar and I've seen all the negative sides of this bar. First of all, there's at least three to six police cars parked in shopping center. Yeah it's fine to have them there just in case but it's an overload. Most of the time the police officers are at the Starbucks getting free coffee. They look lazy to me, because they could be doing more than just parked at a shopping center when there's surveillance cameras everywhere. The Safeway closes early next to the bar over the weekend due to drunk people vandalizing the store or stealing items. The Safeway is losing money because of all the people that can't hold their liquor. The nations is the only thing that stays open in the shopping center late over the weekends. I have so much respect for them because they get all the crazy people at late hours. Also, the drunk people starting fights and being obnoxiously loud is worse than downtown walnut creek. The only positive thing I can say about this topic is the pleasant hill cops aren't complete assholes like the walnut creek ones. On a positive note, you can sing karaoke. Also there's lots of chairs around the karaoke area to have a large audience if wanted. Yes you can play pool and it's very cheap to play. The size of the bar is very small. Many times I feel as if I'm being cramped in one spot and there's not enough bartenders on staff all the time I'm there. Safe to say, I only go there on the weekdays! read more

I rate this place only 2 stars. Today this place sucked. The Dj was so old and wrinkled. He played a combination of Spice 1 and Mc hammer and some other junk. I love Coronas but for some reason the corona I got tasted horrible. We got to play darts but the darts fell right of the dart board. They just didn't stick cause the dart board was to worn out. We played pool but the 8 ball was missing so we used a second striped 10 and we called it the 8 ball. The wait at the bar was FOREVER for just 1 beer. Some guy farted next to us and left his stench right next to us. I almost puked. Some girl puked in a glass cup and left it there. That was my experience that night. read more
