OMG this place really had me question but we were driving up to Nova, hungry and decided to make a pit stop here to satisfy our kebab cravings. And I'm so glad we did! It's nestled in a shopping center and the you wouldn't think food is served here since it merely appears to be a grocery store from the outside. I called in the order and the friendly gentleman that took my order told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. I saw on Yelp it was exactly 20 minutes away so what perfect timing. As soon as I arrived our food was ready. There is no seating area so we had to eat in our car before we went back on the road. Everything from the rice to the perfectly seasoned kebabs exceeded our expectations. I was staying at a nearby motel and wanted something to eat without the bother of driving far or changing my sweaty clothes. So I ordered takeout from the Sadaqat Halal Market next door. I was a bit put off when I entered the place. It seemed more like a grocery store than a restaurant and no one seemed to be manning the counter where the food menu was displayed. But I spoke to the man at the cash register and he went to the back and returned with my take out order. Returning to the motel I found the meal exactly as I had ordered and it was delicious. I had ordered the rice/lamb platter with extra white sauce, though I'm not sure the extra sauce was needed. There was also some sort of a spicy red sauce that I loved. A perfect complement to all the rest of the food. Too much for me to consume at one sitting, I put the leftovers in the mini fridge and in the morning filled a gallon ziplock bag with ice and put the food and ice in an insulated carrier. Gyros and Shawarma always hit the spot. I've been coming here since it was Nile Market, and the new owner has kept the tradition of delicious gyros alive and well. Fries are great when hot... don't let them cool down! The spices and rice selection are always good. I recommend the Aahu Bara brand basmati... aromatic and extra long grain, and cooks Al Dente very easily. Also a good selection of various jarred goods like Turkish red pepper paste and Tomato pastes (hit way different from canned stuff in the big grocery stores). Sometimes I'll buy chicken breasts to take home and cook.. they're always fresh and not frozen. and u can tell they're not engineered monster birds from the year 2099 because they look like regular sized chicken breasts... not turkey breasts on steroids. read more

I came here for lunch after seeing all the 5 star reviews posted here and thought it must be decent... Well, upon first walking it, there's no place to sit and dine in, it's simply an ethnic grocery store, with lots of bulked out appliances and packages of food everywhere. The guy (owner?) standing at the counter at the back greeted me, but didn't seem very happy, just blah. I ordered a mixed grill of lamb kofta and chicken kabob. The flavors here are unlike many Indian, Pakistani, Persian or Aghani that I've had, as their "green sauce" (that's what he called it) was vinegary and only slightly spicy, but not that great. The rice was decently flavored and had a nice aroma. The bread they give is literally just a quarter slice of a piece of Persian bread (thinner than naan and without a pocket, like pita). The chicken and lamb had a nice char on it that provided just as much flavor as the spices did. Their chick peas were very different as well and not too bad, but far from the thickly-spice, heavily-flavored channa I'm used to. Overall... Upon arriving, I was told that they could not make any dinners for me but could serve me lunch items. I am very disappointed because other ratings suggest that this is a good place. What an amazing find in Fredericksburg. This is a genuine Middle Eastern Market. The people who work here are kind and helpful. The store has items that I had to drive to DC to get before. They have real pita bread and lavash. They also have a large selection of grains, rice, cheese, yogurt, beverages jar foods. I'll definitely be going back. read more

A few things went wrong with my experience here. When I called in my order, the person on the phone didn't take my name or my phone number. I was a little confused how they were going to match me to my order, but I figured I would trust the process. This was probably my first sign that something wasn't right. When I got there, the sign on the door at the entrance stated "masks required for entry." Upon entering, I found that the workers behind the counter didn't have masks on. At least THREE people who work there with no masks. This is not just a grocery store. This is also an establishment that cooks food in the back made to order, meaning, they are in the back cooking food WITHOUT masks or gloves. Despite high reviews, this should've been another red flag. I ordered a kabob combo with one lamb and one chicken kabob, but when I got to the counter, the person who worked there said they made just the lamb kabobs, so he asked if I wanted that instead. I honestly don't eat too much lamb otherwise I would've been more amenable to the unexpected change in my order. Instead, I waited for them to make the chicken kabob. But I did think it was strange that he would ask that when that wasn't my order. I also told the guy on the phone when I called that I wanted an order of chickpeas and I wanted spinach as my side for the combo. When the food was ready, I found that they had given me chickpeas at the side for my combo instead of spinach, and there was no separate order of chickpeas. Honestly, I was disappointed by how everything was run by this place. From how orders were taken to how safe and sanitary practices were not in place, it was not a good experience. The food itself is fine/pretty good, but not great. I don't think the taste of the food is reflective of the high reviews in my opinion. read more

Friendly market with food counter and a few tables for eating in house. Market sells many of the groceries one would find in Turkey or the Middle East. They also sell freshly butchered meat. The menu is mostly kabobs with sides. The kofta (ground lamb) was our favorite, the chicken was also very tasty, the hummus was delicious. This is true Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food and grocery at its best. It was clear that absolutely everything in my To-Go Order was made at the time I ordered it. No premade, everything was incredibly fresh and authentic. No American-ized versions here. Was in the area with my boyfriend and were frantically searching for some good food since a lot of restaurants were closed for dine-in due to the virus. We practically found this restaurant randomly and we were starving for some good food and this place saved us! We got the gyro dinner which had the perfect portions of lamb with great seasoning. The rice was the star of the dish and my boyfriend and I both had our plates completely empty.
