So Mom comes over for Mother's Day but locks her keys in the car. I make the call to Fast Locksmith and feel extremely lucky to find someone willing to come out on the holiday. I'm told that it will take 30 minutes to get to my location and the price will be $125 to open my mother's stellar mini-van. The locksmith arrives in 20 minutes and breaks into the van in no less than 17 seconds, making me question the reasoning behind having locks on cars in the first place. Fast Locksmith's technician turns out to be the owner, and he charges me just $100 for the service. I try to tip him $10, but he refuses, saying that it is Mother's Day. Yup, access to the stellar mom-van may be the best gift of all. Without a doubt this was a very cool locksmith experience. I used this company for another job and have to lower my review. We had a 4pm appointment set days in advance; the technician called at about 3:50 to confirm, and didn't mention anything about being late. Around 4:10 he called again and said he would arrive around 4:45 - why not mention that on the first call? He finally showed up around 5pm, and I said I had to leave soon and we should reschedule, but he promised he could finish "quickly" - which turned out to be around 6:30, making me very late for my next appointment. The locksmith technical work was fine, but the price was not cheap (surprisingly rekeying a lock was half the price of swapping a new deadbolt into the door), I got a payment screen asking me to tip up to 20% (!), and the communication was poor enough that I will choose another company next time. read more
