It feels very mom-and-pop. The people working are always very friendly and knowledgeable -- and fast. And, surprisingly affordable, even cheaper than big box hardware in some cases. I've lived in the neighborhood for oh gosh, 22 years. Eek. And they have been a godsend for Crescent Hill homeowners like me. It's not just the convenience, it's the ability to provide services that old homes need. For example, my house was built in 1928. I still have, and use an old school deadbolt on my front door.. with its original key. They are the only place in town (that I've found) who can cut replicas of this particular key style.. and guess what they charge? $1.99 a key! That's it. Pretty sure the HD is around $4-5 a key. Example 2: I haven't replaced all the windows in my house yet. A few years ago I needed to repair some of the screens and a few cracked window panels. The old school kind, 4 aluminum sides and a sheet of glass. Guess who was the only place that still repairs those?.. you betcha. Example 3: I had a ceiling fan in need of an odd-sided light bulb. Guess where I found one? Small local businesses like Oscar's truly make this neighborhood special. Next time you need a tool or things for a home repair, especially weird, older-home things, don't sleep on Oscar's.

During my visits employees were eager to help, including helping me find a bolt that matches the one I brought in trying to match and replace. The prices also seemed reasonable. If I truly had time to peruse I bet I would find even more that would be helpful to have. This store is larger than you would think when just looking at its front. Home Depot has the worst customer service I have ever experienced…read more I bought a 1 gallon bottle of Ortho Ground Clear Concentrate and had the store in Clarksville, Indiana deliver it. Another customer's order was delivered to my house by mistake. I immediately called customer service and explained what happened. Customer service called the Clarksville store and the store promised to have the delivery person return to my house with the correct item. They also offered to give me a $10 'good will' credit on my order because of the mix up. The delivery person never returned and I never got the $10 credit. I finally returned the Ortho Ground Clear to the store and got the correct item. I left a review on Home Depot's website and they never posted it. I guess they don't like negative feedback.

But happily, Bargain Supply had a plethora of options. We are now expecting two stoves, two refrigerators and a dishwasher next week. Ordering was easy. We walked back through aisles and aisles of hardware goods. This part of the store reminded me of Harbor Freight. The back part of the store is dedicated to appliances with many to choose from. The prices seemed more than reasonable. Along with brand-new models, they have floor models and some scratch and dent options as well. Our salesperson was helpful when picking out what to get. He made some good recommendations based on these appliances going into rentals. Bargain Supply also delivers and can take away your old units. Our appliances are set to be delivered next week. I'll update this review once they are.
