Untrustworthy nickel and dimers. I went in for a smog ($70!) and my car threw a code. P2196 - O2 Sensor Signal Bank 1 Sensor 1. She said they'd have to charge a $180 diagnostic to find out which O2 sensor needed to be changed and then new sensors were $200+. Me: Isn't it sensor 1, on bank 1? That's what the code says. Her: Yeah, but we don't know which sensor is number 1. Some cars have 2, some have 4. Me: Want me to google it for you? I'm going to get it fixed somewhere else. Her: Okay, then bring it back and it'll only be $20 to re-smog I took my car elsewhere to get fixed and the new mechanic knew exactly which sensor needed to be replaced without "diagnosing". He even laughed saying "yeah, it says right there on the code". I brought my car back to be re-smoged and they quoted me $25. Whatever, close enough. I signed the quote and my car passed smog. I went to pay and she said $40!!! I looked at the quote and they wrote up a new one with a higher price and tried to sneak it past me! I said no since my signature wasn't on this new quote so they charged me the $25 and I was out of there. Never going back. This place is ridiculous. read more

Fastest oil change ever! I pulled up at 9:15AM with only about 30 minutes before I had to head out for a 10AM appointment. I told the guy down in one of the pits how much time I had, and even though they already had a couple of vehicles in the shop, he told me to pull around back and he would get me in and out in 15 minutes. They were super friendly, super quick and I made it to my 10:00 appointment with time to spare! Success!! read more

This is gonna be a long and winding weird and unexpected Yelp review. So I took my 8 yr old BMW in as the coolant fluid indicator light came on, and these folks had done a few oil changes for me in the past. They did a check up and said a needed a new water pump, thermostat and coolant. Not a small job, but I have learned from experience that this is weak point in BMWs over 7 years old, so I had them do it. 2 days later in Los Gatos, I backed up, heard a clunk and then a dragging noise under the car when I tried to drive. Very carefully pulled into nearby has station and looked under car and saw that something had fallen from undercarriage and was dragging on ground. Popped the hood and found mechanics tool. Immediately called Faster Lube and explained that I thought that the coolant fluid tube had fallen. Long story short, they had the OWNER drive up to Los Gatos to personally drive me to Morgan Hill AND to pay for a tow truck to bring my car to their Morgan Hill shop to fix the problem. The owner, Orlando and I had to wait for quite awhile for the tow truck as it was rush hour in Silicon Valley. So here is when it gets wild and weird. Orlando. I have never met a person like him. He is a brilliant humble Philosopher Mechanic with a heart of gold. I started out stressed out and angry and by the time my car was towed, fixed and given extra free services AFTER HOURS, I was in a totally different frame of mind. Laughing. Thinking deeply. Appreciative. Mind Expanded. This is a family owned business. If you have a chance to meet Orlando, do take the time to talk to him so that your mind can be expanded. If he is not there, just revel in the friendliness of Ivan and Cynthia. Also, take them gifts. I will definitely taking my car there for ALL future repairs. And oil changes of course. I only took my car here to get oil changes because they are in a convenient location. Had to get my oil changed out of state and that business showed my what a horrible job fasterlube had done by breaking the housing. They have also lied to me multiple times such as on the very day I had already changed my window wipers and I took my car in for an oil change and they told me I needed new wipers. They seemed embarrassed when I told them that was impossible since I just just installed brand new ones. They also returned my car multiple times with the AC still broken. The last time I went there they told me I needed new breaks. I had two different mechanics check and they both said that was a lie. I feel like they try to take advantage of female customers thinking they can get more money out of them. Great location but horrible place to go. read more

I have taken all of my cars to the same place in Campbell for years and have paid no more than $35 for an oil change. My husband took my car to Farsterlube for the first time because it was convenient. Horrible mistake. They said it's was $39.99 and they offered a $10 coupon when he called to check the price. So he took the car in and they did the oil change. When it was time to pay the lady at the desk said the total was $55 How does the price go from $29.99 to almost double???? She had a list of fees that they tacked on. He refused to pay that amount so she ended up lowering the price to $51.25 WOW what a discount!! They are complete scammers. Horrible place to take your car. They are a full on rip off. They tried to charge me $90 for an oil change on a 4Runner, after asking them why they tried to walk me over to my vehicle as the hood was already up and try to make things up to fool me. I went there because of the coupon on the back of my Safeway receipt. My initial feeling when I arrived was a sense of discomfort. They weren't open as their business hours indicated. I had to wait 25 minutes for them to open their doors. Also, when asked how long a usual oil change takes, they responded with 30-40 minutes. They finished in less than 7 minutes which I was skeptical of. If I ever go back I'll definitely mark my oil filter with a sharpie, just for evidence. read more

-----------DONT FORGET THE OIL----------- I had brought my Yukon in for a oil and tranny fluid change. The tech drained my oil then my tranny fluid ( while I went to grab a bite) they replaced tranny fluid and sent me on my way. Next day my oil pressure gauge fell to "0" and a horrible banging clacking noise started coming from my motor. They forgot to replace my oil! and it resulted in my truck breaking down on Monterey road at Bailey ave and had to have it towed back to my home. I poured over 4 quarts of oil in it and it still didn't register on the dip stick. My engine is ruined from running with no lubrication. I paid for this service, and if they are a shop specializing in oil changes, how the hell did they forget to put the oil back into my truck?? Their oil service is fine, but if they try to fix your car then go somewhere else. $600 dollars for both brakes. My father was given a price estimate of $350 for his front brakes. HIGHLY UNETHICAL PRACTICES; this location tried to rob me. I was in town for my father's funeral a few months ago. While I was there, I dropped my mom's car off for a simple oil change. Within minutes, they called to tell me the car was leaking radiator fluid. I gave my approval for them to perform a diagnostic for an additional $80 or so. Half an hour later, they called to tell me there was a hole in the radiator and it would be $800 to repair. When I told them I couldn't afford it, they started walking the price down, which was an immediate red flag to me. I said no thanks and picked up the car (after paying some $150 for the oil change and "diagnostic"). While I was there, one of the mechanics told me the car was unsafe to drive in its condition and I was risking blowing up the engine. I took the car to a different auto shop and was told there was no such problem. A few days later, the car passed smog and safety inspections with flying colors. As I'm writing this review, I'm seeing numerous other one-star reviews talking about the same kind of unethical practices. I think it's only a matter of time before this place gets sued straight out of business. read more

I'd been going for years to get oil changes & smogs just because it's nearby, but after my last experience, I am DONE. Just an oil change. 'OH, YOUR CAR ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE!! YOUR TIRES! We can order you new ones!' Um, I know what a wear bar is, and my tires are nowhere near them. Then when I left, my car mysteriously needed to be jump started and I'd need a new battery?? My battery is fine, and they seemed to be deliberatly trying to keep me from direct view while they made a big to-do while pretending to jump start it. Later that day, I seem to be having speedometer problems. It's saying I'm going much faster than I am. Then I realized they'd changed it to give kilometers instead of miles...did they think I'd come back to get this issue solved? A few years ago it was that my car was using lots of oil because I needed new spark plugs...I see from the reviews that I'm not the only one they've pulled the 'spark plug' thing on. And their online coupons always have some 'exception' but they act like they're being so nice by giving you $5 off so you'll somehow feel better about paying a lot more. Warning double dippers. My wife took our Honda Civic there to get the timing belt repaired. Which is standard practice to replace water pump and head gasket too. The next week the head gasket blew and we discovered the water pump was not done. Very dishonest garage super shady. They are looking to take advantage of you watch out. I took my 2005 Pacific here and they did the oil change and noticed that I had a small leak in one of the hoses (I knew something was leaking due to the spots in my carport). When I returned, they showed me the leak and gave me a few different options for fixing it. I also knew that I needed new breaks and the system flushed so, I decided to have them do everything to help me save on labor cots. I left the car overnight. They gave me a ride home (I live locally) and picked me up in my car the following day. Great service, good prices, and quick turn-around.
