EXCEPTIONAL! This is the best little frame shop in the world...and I've had things framed in many states, London and Japan. So why is it exceptional? MATTHEW and the team!! Art is often made or ruined by the frame so it's vital to have someone who knows how to design it to bring out the art. You don't want to see the frame first, it needs to highlight what's in it. Here is where Matthew is a master. It takes him seconds to pull it all together and he's not shy to suggest what would work well and then listen to see if I like it. He's always right! I've now taken 17 items into this shop to be framed...6 of them from other places that did a blasé design job. The most difficult was a handmade shall that the interior designer in Haverty's next door said needed to be hung on the wall. I didn't think it was possible! Honestly, I was gobsmacked when Matthew and the owner delivered it and installed it for me! Matthew and his team hand-stitched it onto the matting and then framed it with a wooden frame to give a nod to Quito Ecuador where the shall was made. I have mixed feelings about this place. I have taken 4 items there to be framed. They always take a long time (at least 2 months) but the results, the first three times, were lovely. The most recent time, I was not happy with the results. I discussed it with them, we agreed what had to be done. Then 6 weeks later they called and told me they were not going to change it because it already met their standards and they don't have time to redo things they already think look good. They did offer a refund; I didn't even need to ask for it. But I do not understand why the changes couldn't be made and why they took an extra 6 weeks to tell me they were not going to do anything. addition: They were framing a cross-stitch piece for me. The piece was stitched on 14 count white Aida cloth. They mounted it on green foam. The green showed through the fabric. I asked them to change the underlay to white. They refused. I took it to a different framer who did as I asked, and it most certainly did improve it. I'll attach before and after pictures. But even if you don't think it matters, I'm still surprised that FastFrame refused to make this simple change to present my work the way I wanted it done. read more

In 2011, I had one of my husband's favorite artists (N8 Van Dyke) do a custom sketch of him (the gorilla) and our son (the panda) as a birthday gift. The sketch was great. Nate is very talented. Two years passed. We moved 2,000 miles away from Jamaica Plain to Austin, TX. I stumbled upon the sketch whilst unpacking and thought it would make a nice addition to the artwork in our son's room. I did a Yelp search for a framer in the area and found FASTFRAME. I have to admit, the all caps threw me off. The reviews enticed me though and I thought, "What the fuck?". It had been a while since I took a gamble (thank you motherhood). I woke up in October and was reminded this is the worst month financially for me. Our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday (both in October) drain my bank account- never mind the holidays are right around the corner. I remembered I had bought the Yelp deal and decided I would use it. THEY DID A PHENOMENAL JOB. Granted it cost me more than the $45 for $100 Yelp deal, but I I wanted things that cost extra. I just dropped off my items today to be framed, so I haven't seen the end result, but I loved working with Matthew and I was so impressed with his shop! They have a huge variety of frames and mats, and I know I'm going to love what they do. They also do custom shadowboxes as well, which I called about. Extremely friendly and knowledgable and professional, worth every cent! I know I'll be back to get some Christmas gifts as well, they have lots of unique Austin items for sale as well. On my first trip to Australia over 20 years ago, I bought tiny artwork from a local artist. I kept it all these years. This year I decided to do something with it but could not find a frame due to its size. I went to Michael's and they did not do custom unique sizes but recommended FastFrame. I called on a Saturday and it was five minutes past closing. However someone answered! His name was Matthew. He was friendly and didn't sound like I was a bother. In fact he asked how far away I was. My son and I went to the Pecan Festival in Austin, TX September 24, 2016. We had such a great time visiting all the businesses along the streets, eating foods and people watching. We walked by some artist drawing caricature portraits and had one done of us. The portrait looked just like us and it was funny. I wanted it framed and matted so I asked my son to find the nearest business that was open. The search came up with Fastframe. I did not get the man's name that helped us but he showed me different mating combinations and took his time with us. I live in Victoria, TX and I needed the portrait mailed to me. Not a problem! When it arrived it looked SUPER and there was no damaged due to the expert wrapping. I highly recommend Fastframe! Monday, March 13, 2017 I returned to Fastframe (same location) with three posters: Picasso,Dali, and Amen. Kurt helped me with different color matting and framing combinations. I was able to get Conservation glass due to coupon Kurt used. The color of matting and the frames I was helped with really brought out the colors in each poster. This is as good as it gets! I took an original painting in to FastFrame knowing sort of what I wanted but needed some guidance. Carol helped me, and took the whole process from beginning, to framing it, to being there when I picked it up. I found FastFrame online while trying to find a place to get my college diploma framed. I've never gotten anything framed before. To add to the confusion, Rice University is one of the few universities still offering the sheep skin option and not many places around Austin know how to frame a sheep skin correctly. This diploma meant a lot to me and I wanted it to be done perfectly. My experience with FastFrame has been perfect from the beginning. I called the place just to gather some information and in the process, Jim the framer immediately explained to me in detail the process of framing a sheep skin. I had bought my own frame somewhere else so I was told to just bring the diploma and frame in. Everyone at the store was very nice and the entire framing process was explained to me in detail. This gave me great comfort to leave my diploma and my frame in their hands. The framing was completed within the estimated amount of time (about a week) and it cost me about $100 total (I bought an anti-reflective glass as well). The dimension of my diploma is 23''x18''. I'm very satisfied with the way my diploma was framed. A very tiny bit of the double sided tape is showing at the very top of the diploma but you can't see it unless you're inches away from it. I think I'm just being extremely picky =P It's been 6 months and my diploma still remains just the way it was when I got it back. Apparently Jim has over 30 years of experience so I think it's worth to come here just due to his experience. So if you really care about what you're framing, this is the place. read more

Better prices and service than Michaels for framing! I was very impressed with this place. I had a poster sized frame that the glass cracked and needed replacement. I bought the frame in , they sized it and cut the glass while I waited there! That's fast. I didn't get the name of the gentleman who assisted me, other than chatting I know he is part Italian part Scottish. I would have thanked him by name. With the assistance of Matthew at our local Fast Frame shop, we are so delighted with the way our latest project turned out. Matthew helped us to choose the best way to display it and I cannot say enough about his expertise! Each piece was mounted with a reverse bevel and then mounted to stand off from the back matboard. The main mat is a beautiful teal suede and it was Matthew's idea to add the yellow wooden edge (not sure what it's called) but it looks great! I'm so glad that he made the suggestion to do that. The prints looks like they are floating inside the frame. It's awesome and looks very nice in my living room.
