I was late on my safety check. It happens. oops. I started looking around for spots that might be able to help me with no appointment necessary and I happened to find Fastlane Automotive on my handy-dandy yelp app. Ben C and Jon D both mentioned fast Safety checks, so I made my way over there and parked next to the open bay area. One of the guys waved and asked if I needed help and I told him I needed my safety done, he nodded and asked for the paperwork. I waved it at him and he said to give them a few minutes. Within a few minutes, they had me over to the counter getting ready to pay for the Safety, when I saw the sign "All Safety Inspections are CASH only" YIKES! The guy smiled and pointed to the credit union at the corner and said there's an ATM right there. Phew! Left my keys with them and took a short walk to get some cash. By the time I walked back, my car was sitting in the bay, and another gentleman was putting on my sticker and she was ready to go. All I had to do was pay! Definitely quick and easy! I have been going here on and off for over a decade. The on and off is just because of location convenience. Now I'm living closer to the east side, so I'm back. They have gone through some new staff with the same core guys there, but everyone seems nice. I'm a big fan of this shop. They are good for the small stuff like safety check or even bigger jobs under the hood. "D" is usually the gentleman that answers the phone and he's professional and considerate of your time and his. They'll give you their best estimate over the phone. When you're driving there it's a little hard to see their sign, but you can park on both sides of the shop when turning in from the main road Moowaa St. Timing is one of things I appreciate the most about this shop. They give your an estimated time and actually call to update you when that time is up or in some cases earlier in my experience. They have a small waiting room you can sit and wait if the job is not too long, WiFi available on request. The shop is at the normal standard of cleanliness for a auto repair shop, so no judgement there. Overall, I will keep coming back since they've been great thus far. If you're on the fence about where to get your car fixed or just safety check, you might consider these guys. read more

You have a problem with your car- that's their focus. They get it done right the first time and quickly. Time is money and when you rely on your transportation for work it is essential to get it done quickly. I mean if it wasn't for me and the owner yakking it up, I woulda been out of there in a flash. Their stated hours are from 8 but they opened up a little earlier. So it's a good time to fill gas at Costco, then scoot on over to get a safety check down the street. 7/26 Update: went today and got a oil change and cabin filter. I had a screw in my tire & tried going to Goodyear to get it plugged, however, Goodyear would've taken 6 hours! I called Fastlane & asked if they could fix my tire & do a safety check....they said I could go down immediately & it would take 30-45 mins. When I got there "Steve" & "D" we're amazing! Originally came for inspection 5 years ago. Have been coming back with both my vans ever since. I can't count the number of times I have been grateful for (long hair)Steve's help with a wide variety of mechanical issues in the past. On one or two occasions, where it was a quicky that didn't require parts, Steve has generously waived charges altogether. That is so appreciated, it raised my rating to 4 from three. I am 63 years old and have spent my adult life looking for a mechanic I could rely on consistently. Finding Fastlane meant I could finally relax and let them take care of my mechanical needs. It lasted for 4 years, longer than any others. Last year my Nissan had a loud squealing sound on acceleration. Brought it in and both Steves declared it to be the a/c clutch and quoted an expensive repair. It didn't feel right. The a/c worked great. Plus it didn't sync up with the squeal on acceleration. I asked to check the belts. They tightened the serpentine and the squeal was gone. What bothered me was how sure they both were without driving it or even looking under the hood. I get that Steve couldn't just contradict the boss, especially in front of a customer, yet it has undermined my confidence all the same. I totally trust (long hair) Steve's skill as a mechanic and most importantly I trust his honesty. I can not speak for anyone else there. In the last year or so they have brought in a couple of young guys. Steve is dividing his attention between taking calls and providing oversight on the other mechanics. I'm seeing the quality of the work suffer as a result. I have had to come back twice in recent months with both vans to repair the repair. I bought a second van specifically so I could keep the primary van loaded with inventory and not offload. Each time I go in for work, I have to spend a 1/2 day offloading beforehand, only to reload afterward, then do the whole damn thing a second time to repair the repair. I would like for things to go back to when (long hair) Steve did the work himself. That is not going to happen. One of the only places that do safety inspections on the weekend. I called at around 9AM and they said they can do my safety inspection but that I'd have to get there by 10AM because they only do inspections until that time. No problem for me! Took my dad's car, drove to the place, and got my safety inspection done in less than 15 minutes. Workers were really friendly. It looked like they were busy with other cars but they took mine in right away. It's a no frills auto shop so don't expect fancy stuff by way of looks, but I was glad I found them and they were able to do exactly what I needed for my dad's car. If you need your safety inspection done but only have time during the weekend, try Fastlane Automotive. I hope you get the same service I got because it was pretty amazing. read more

So this was my first time here & I would give this place a 10 star.i looked on yelp finding a place to get my safety check renew & this place was the closes to my house.i called & asked to schedule an appointment but they said they just do walk ins.when I got there, he was finishing up another car.right after he took my car in & I was in & out of there in less then 10 minutes. Steve and his team at Fastlane Automotive are awesome! Steve (Italian) is professional yet down to earth, extremely knowledgeable about foreign cars and honest about his work. I called multiple shops inquiring about oil change and break repair for my Land Rover LR2 including Jaguar Land Rover Honolulu. Many don't service foreign cars and some had poor customer service skills. Jaguar Land Rover Honolulu was too expensive. They charge customer more if they bring in their own oil filter, I couldn't believe it! Steve at Fast Lane convinced me over the phone that he is the place to service my my car. Tim, owner of RestorFx Hawaii (autobody repair) also recommended Steve. I went in on a Sat morning a few weeks ago around 9:30. Only one person in front of me. Steve did my intake with a big smile, gave me an estimate that didn't break my piggy bank, and started working on my car right away. He did not charge me for bringing my own special filter, he did charge me for 2 extra quarts of oil since my car requires more oil than the standard car. The price was very reasonable. I also brought in a new hood struts since the old one is broken. Told Steve about it last minute and he gladly changed it for me at a reasonable price. I was in/out of the shop less than an hour: oil change, front break pads changed, front hood struts replaced. The shop also has a clean waiting room for customers with complimentary water if u recalled correctly. Glad I got there early because there were many customers waiting to get serviced by the time o was leaving. I highly recommend Fastlane Automotive. Will be going there from now on for all my car repair needs. Thank you to Steve and his team! ADDENDUM: 11/11/17, returned for an oil change service. Was greeted by Steve with his usual happy layback demeanor. I forgot my special LR2 oil filter, but Steve sent his staff to get one for me fairly quickly considering my filter is hard to find. I also brought in new windshield wipers that I can't figure out how to change it on my own. Staff David took care of it for me. Its much appreciated because it rained like crazy when I was leaving the shop and my new wipers worked great! They found a small leak in my transmission, Steve again took time to explain everything in layman's term and provided options. I could wait and continue to monitor the leak or fix it. He recommends fixing it, I agree. Scheduled to return for the following Sat. No charge for the windshield wiper change, very nice customer appreciation gesture by Fastlane Automotive!! For today's service, I give it an A++ 11/18/2017, brought my car back for transmission service. Received same genuine happy greeting by Steve and his staff. Steve did a diagnostic evaluation in a timely manner, found no leak in the transmission, instead the leak came from a plate above. He recommends sealing it and do a transmission fluid flush at 100,000 miles. Sounds great to me since sealing a plate is less expensive than a transmission leak repair. I'll be back sooner though for my next oil change. For today's service, I give it an A++! read more

The AC for our ride stopped blowing air at all since early Friday morning yesterday 6/19/2020, and decided to go to this shop that my in-laws been going to for a while. Called them Friday evening to see if they can fix the problem, and was told To come in Saturday at 8am (this morning). Got in a little after 8am, and boom they helped me right away! Steve(with the long ponytail) pretty much figured out the problem before even checking, and even helped me with a problem I had months ago!!! First time here. I saw the awesome reviews, couldn't go to a-1 like I usually do because they were booked. First initial phone call.. was great. Steve answered the phone politely, gave me a good price and didn't sound hesitant at the schedule time. I confirmed my appointment because I was running a few minutes behind and he remembered my car and what I was replacing. That's definitely 1 in 10 shops... also registered me on their systems and asked if I needed anything else done even if it's past 3 o'clock, most places I go are rushing by 2 pm and are completely rude because it's Friday. Not this shop :) The mechanic Showed me the worn belt I was replacing and was very polite even if I brought in my own replacement part. Goes by the name of the company. FAST. Showed up to get my safety renewed, guy told me to have paperwork ready, (insurance, registration, old safety). He took my keys, did his thing and done all under 10 mins. Was probably even in 5 mins. The guy who did my safety inspection was most likely the owner, super chill and easy to talk to.
