Took my son's vehicle to Honolulu AutoWorks yesterday & was greeted by the service advisor Sean. We had spoke the day before regarding my son's issues on his vehicle and Sean offered to take in the vehicle that day, but because it was already the middle of the day and I work in Kalaeloa I asked if I could drop it off the following morning, which was fine. Dropped off the vehicle early in the morning, met with Sean, informed him that the vehicle was making a high squealing noise when we start it, the brakes were low and we needed a safety check..at first we thought it was the alternator, but it turned out to be the belt tentioner that needed to be replaced,. Sean also tested the battery and discovered that the battery was weak and slow to start. By the afternoon, my son's vehicle was done and all repairs were taken cared of, no squealing noise, veh started quickly, the brakes felt tight & they even changed out the cabin filter, yuck!. and my safety check was done. Sesn made the process seem so simple. And I am not knowledgeable of vehicle repairs. I'm visiting my children and their 2002 dodge truck had brake issues and air conditioning was shot. These guys are a bunch of kooks who will rip you off!!!! They quoted me 398$ to change my ignition switch; it turned out to be a 19$ part that I replaced by myself in under an hour!!! Absolutely ridiculous, I don't know how they can sleep at night. The only positive thing I can say is they did diagnose it correctly; however shame on them for wanting to charge someone hundreds of dollars for less than an hour worth of labor. I honestly feel they were trying to charge me more because I was a chick and they thought I wouldn't know any better. Won't be coming back ever, and I recommend you guys stay away as well. read more

Honolulu Autoworks has already been around for a year, but completely off the Yelp grid! That just shows what a quality company they are, and how they have so many clients and business that they don't even need the advertising! Well, I'm here to support anyway :). I bought a LivingSocial deal for over half off their $60 car care wash, wax, interior detailing package. These guys are so busy I had to schedule an appointment months in advance! Yikes! Service usually takes about an hour and a half, and I waited at the Lion's Coffee factory which was walking distance from the shop and was well equipped with free Wifi and delicious coffee drinks! Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Kalani, the owner, called back a little over an hour, saying my car was done early, and even left a voicemail and text message when I missed his call! His easy-going friendly personality, helpfulness with all my billion car questions, and genuine concern for my car needs really speaks to the culture of his company; the aloha spirit. He also says they only use quality chemicals when detailing; none of the cheapy stuff you can get from superstores! Only small complaint was that some of my windows had water spots on it and my trunk wasn't completely vacuumed when I picked up my car....But everything else was nearly spotless, and for the price, what a great deal! So the first time i went here was GREAT. the owner is an amazing guy.... was very helpful and informative. i just went in for a synthetic oil change. i figured i go back cause i had a great experience. when i went back to pick up my car it was $50 dollars more than last time. i was like WHAT THE HECK. he said ohh there was stuff that needed to be done. 1) that's illegal 2)now i know that 3) if THIS EVER HAPPENS TO YOU CALL THE COPS right then and there! taking advantage of me just cause i'm a girl!?!? and he was like oh are you going to be short? i was like yeahhhh ON RENT! he was like oh okay. like no big deal kind of attitude. all due respect to the owner, but this guy needs to be fired. The best auto center on the island. I highly recommend!!! Does the work right the first time. Great customer service and explains everything that is done and why. Goes above and beyond what I would expect of an auto center. Prices are very reasonable and Honolulu Autoworks only uses quality parts. I have been to many auto centers and none have compared to the excellence this shop provides. Most importantly, the service rep, Kalani, is honest to what really needs to be done and what does not. This is not a shop that will do work or a job that is not needed. Just take a drive by the shop and look inside. The place is clean!!! There is not a slew of cars pilled up. This means to be that they get the job done and out of the shop, running. I had my AC checked by one shop. Was told I needed a new evaporator, cost was $1000. I actually found out about this place because I won a free car detailing at Aiea Bowl one night; they were so good I kept coming back! The owner is super nice and their car detailing is pristine. I have a dog who sheds like no other, and somehow they get every single dog hair and beach sand from every tiny crevice in my car. Excessive mud/per hair/etc. is an extra charge, but I gladly pay it for a spotless car. (And my car gets filthy!) They also wash the exterior well too, but the detailing is what keeps me coming back. read more
