I've been going to Oscar's for the last 5 to 6 yrs now, by recommendation from my son-in-law. From my first time there, to today, Oscar's is the best! Always friendly and quick service. Even at times when I opt to just drop off my car, and get called when service was done. They are honest and always recommend only what's needed. There were even a couple of instances that they could not fix a certain issue and suggested I take it back to the dealership. It was nice to see they don't just "try" to fix it to get the sale, and will give the best recommendation even if it means referring you somewhere else. Almost want to keep this place a secret. I've been coming to Oscar's for many years for all my car issues. I've even moved away from the area, but I continue to bring my car here because the employees are honest and hardworking. I trust them fully. I never felt "tricked" or coerced to spend more than I needed to. Like other reviewers have said, if they can't fix something, they will recommend somewhere else or recommend a more affordable option. Stopped there twice for a safety check. The first time I was advised by the mechanic that I did not need it done until the next month, which I appreciated. It saved me a month. In doing so, he noticed a crack in my front left blinker, which I got changed during the buffer month I had. When I went back to get my safety check, I was met with an equally friendly mechanic that performed it very timely. The whole experience was very pleasant and not stressful at all, which honestly I have felt at other shops, even for something as simple as a safety check. The price was as expected. They're located at the corner of Mokauea Street and Hart Street, near Ross Appliance. Sometimes, they get pretty busy so get there early. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff who took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explain the recommended services. The transparency and honesty displayed by the team instilled a sense of trust, making me feel confident that my car was in good hands. Oscar, the owner is very easy to work with. His staff knows a lot and is very courteous. The facility is fairly clean for being a repair shop. Cars in need of service are organized and not just scattered all over like some other shops. As far as pricing, Oscar's is fair. The service is well worth it. I've recommended this place to my work and a few of my friends who need services. I have been seeing other mechanics that are good too, BUT, my car was still giving me issues. Ford Escape, would just shut down anywhere I was, electrical no nothing, I cannot even put on the emergency lights because it is DEAD! Being stuck on the Kuhio St. traffic signal, on-ramp by Maryknoll HS, amongst others, sought major help and de-stressing. After going through some of those that fixed my car before, my daughter Jenn (IEH Towing-gratuitous) plug, she said to see her friend at Oscar's, their friend Hector. Wanted it fixed so, let's go! Hector did a bang-up job, replacing a burned-out sensor and a major leak, it worked well and felt good...Drove around went home, and 60m. later, the car dies again, Omy. Messaged Hector, he was not sure but brought it back a couple of days later. After talking with Hector, he went to work and did a lot of troubleshooting and Boom, found the problems, all electrical by the battery case to the main fuse box, burned-out fuses, ran his tests, road tested and it ran like a champ. After all this time, it started running great!!! MAHALO Hector for your patience and expertise!!! I found my go-to place to get my car taken care of. Upon the recommendation of a friend I went to Oscar's to check an engine light that came on. They did the check for free and gave me the codes of what was potentially wrong and reset my engine light. Told me to come back if the light came back on. Well, within a few minutes after leaving the place and after filling up gas, the car stalled when I started up the engine and the light came on again. I was fortunately able to start the car after a couple of tries and brought the car back the next day and left it there for a deeper check. After a day of not hearing I called back and another guy who was assigned to fixing my car, spoke to me on the phone and asked me some questions in order to better understand what was wrong. I called back the next day to find out about the progress and they said they were searching for a part from the dealer. Long story short, they fixed the problem but you may need to follow up with them if you don't hear back and if you need to get the car back before a long weekend or make arrangements to have someone drive you there to pick up the car like I did. I bought my car used, only 47k miles 3 years old and this wasn't a major fix but it cost me $370 nevertheless. Oscar and his staff, Ethan and Mike are very nice but they are also busy so be patient but nudge nicely if you need to and they will come through. Appointments are recommended but if you get there before they open, they will take you but not guaranteed when the service will be done. read more

I didn't know my sticker expires this month, and I needed a safety check.. stat. Its been years since I last lived in town, and my go-to auto shop had closed down years ago. I didn't know where to go! My cousin overheard my woes, and told me to stop by at Oscar's on my way in before work. I had not heard of Oscar's, so I looked them up and bookmarked the page in my *Yelp. I decided to stop in one morning after running some errands, since I was in the area. I was a little confused with the driveway situation, since what appeared to be the "entrance" side was completely blocked up with cars. I made a U-turn and entered the "exit" side and parked parallel to the area that looked like it may have been the pumps. I asked one of the workers if it was okay for me to park there for a safety check and he said it was fine and to go check in my car. I went into the shop, where there were two other individuals waiting. I was able to speak to a guy who took my key and all my registration paperwork and said there was 1 person ahead of me. Before I knew it, the safety check ahead of me was done and it was my turn. The job was done quickly and from what I could tell, rather thoroughly. Been coming to these guys for awhile. In fact earlier this year I needed a starter & it was fixed promptly & professionally. Just today I had a problem turns out I had vacuum leak due to a broken rubber hose coupler. Maybe 30 minutes tops & I was on the road.
