The space feels warm and welcoming, and I'd definitely come back to dine in. Everything was packaged nicely and with care, which made the takeout experience even better. The crispy beef bowl was the standout. The flavors were incredibly well balanced, there was a good portion of beef, and the broccoli was honestly delicious. Definitely something I'd order again. I also tried a couple of the simple rolls. The California roll was exactly what I expected and I enjoyed it. The shrimp tempura roll was a bit of a letdown--it was literally just shrimp and rice with no veggies or anything else to add texture or flavor. I was expecting a little more from it. We had a reservation for 7:15pm on a Saturday night. To start, this place has a lot of outdoor seating but not a lot of indoor seating. The inside has a few tables & booths and a small bar. The staff were all very friendly! They checked on us a good amount and even made recommendations. The menu has a lot of delicious options but we ordered the crab Rangoons and street fries to start. Crab Rangoons are my favorite food and these were HEAVENLY. Some of the best I've ever had. The street fries were just as amazing! Very flavorful and the pork was nice and crispy! We decided to order two sushi rolls; savage roll & crunchy crab roll. Again, they were both delicious! To quote my boyfriend "the savage roll is savage". Listen- I was excited and my hopes were up. I'm visiting Door County and had a good amount of heavy, greasy American food. So as you can imagine I was very excited for a change of pace with some Asian food. We walked in without a reservation, and the only table they had was a picnic table outside. The garden was very pretty! It took a while for our server to even get our drink order. The house made soda was very good! The sprite wasn't crispy or carbonated. Our server was nice, but didn't take notes on our orders and we mentioned three allergies. One in particular was fairly bad. The appetizers took around 40 minutes. I will repeat that. 40 minutes. For two appetizers. We had reserved about an hour for dinner ahead of a sunset boat tour that we couldn't miss! Not to mention that we ordered immediately. Anyway, because the food took forever to come and we were about to miss our tour we asked if we could pay and have them box up our food and have it ready after the tour because the food was pricey and we were hungry! The waiter was nice about it and did it for us. When we returned, we picked up our food cold and went to our hotel. We heated it up and sat down to eat. The person in our party with an allergy is allergic to sesame. And it is anaphylactic. The food had sesame. But it wasn't on top. It was hidden in the middle of the food. And she ate it. Luckily she is ok, but what they did is absolutly not. On a more minor note we asked for no cilantro for someone who has the cilantro/soap gene and they included that also. It ruined the whole thing. On top of everything it was so late every other place was closed so we had to go pick up food from a bar. A bar. read more

I went to Fat Belly on a slow Tuesday night. A member of my group has an allergy to sesame and we informed the waiter. When the food arrived the waiter said there was no sesame in the dish, but when they mixed up the rice bowl they start to see a bunch of sesame seeds in their food. Again this isn't a oh they might get an itchy mouth allergy this is an anaflactic, they go to the hospital allergy. read more

I always order sushi rolls and find the fresh product they use to offer one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had. We really enjoyed this place. They had outdoor seating in addition to a small indoor space, and the waitstaff were friendly. We ordered two ramen bowls on a rainy day and dumplings and sushi to share. The sushi was good but honestly could have been more imaginative, but the dumplings were delicious and unique, which we appreciated. The ramen was very good, and perfect for the rainy weather we had (we loved being able to sit outside under a covered roof even though it was raining - with our soups, this was very cozy!). Start by picking a bowl or burrito then a protein followed by one of 4 rice styles then a flavor combo. I got chicken burrito with cilantro rice, assado style (corn, cojita cheese, pickled onions, salsa and avocado). Not quite as flavorful as the big chains, but fresh and authentic tasting. The tiny shop has some outside seating and heat lamps and it wasn't too busy so we got the food pretty quick. Definitely a great lunch spot. read more

I had the veggie burrito. Kale, sliced Brussels sprouts, and julienned carrots. I chose the cilantro lime rice and went with the asada style. This consisted of sweet corn, caramelized onions, avocado, salsa Romo, and salsa verde. The order was ready in minutes as I waited. A generous portion packed with a lot of flavor. The ingredients all worked well together, leading me to believe that all proteins rice, and styles are interchangeable. The burrito was seasoned well without being too spicy. After a day of traveling in Door County, we stopped at Fat Belly based on all the positive reviews it had. We love creative takes on burritos and bowls. Fat Belly has this covered. The food is also fresh and the facility is very casual and relaxed, but clean and bright. My burrito was flavorful and had the right amount of substance to fill me up (not an easy task) and the right amount of kick to keep me interested, but not overpower the other flavors. My wife remarked that her bowl was flavorful and she enjoyed it a lot. There are a lot of options for different tastes (tex-mex, Mediterranean, etc.). I don't drink, but it looks like they have thoughtful pairings with the food. This place is not on a main strip, so it is a nice calmer place for a relaxing lunch or quiet dinner. High quality ingredients, fresh & loaded with flavor! The only thing that falls short here from a perfect mark is that they skimped on the chicken & loaded it with rice. The bowls are delicious, filling, and look amazing and the speciality rolls are also so good, haven't had anything like it. We visited Fat Belly under their old concept of pick your meat and pick your style of bowl and loved it! We went back a lot! They have changed the concept leaning toward sushi. There are limited fixed bowl to choose. I wanted the steak option but was told they didn't have it. I ended up with the ramen option. Very disappointed! The noodle were flavor less, soggy and mushy. i definitely choose poorly. My husband chose on of the rolls, the firecracker. He loved it. The flavors were good and just the right size.
