Savage roll (left) & crunchy crab roll (right)

We had a reservation for 7:15pm on a Saturday night. To start, this place has a lot of outdoor seating but not a lot of indoor seating. The inside has a few tables & booths and a small bar. The staff were all very friendly! They checked on us a good amount and even made recommendations. The menu has a lot of delicious options but we ordered the crab Rangoons and street fries to start. Crab Rangoons are my favorite food and these were HEAVENLY. Some of the best I've ever had. The street fries were just as amazing! Very flavorful and the pork was nice and crispy! We decided to order two sushi rolls; savage roll & crunchy crab roll. Again, they were both delicious! To quote my boyfriend "the savage roll is savage". We are from Milwaukee and this is better than any of the sushi I've had there. I was truly blown away by the food here. Definitely recommend!

Make a reservation here IMMEDIATELY!!!! We have had sushi all over the world, and this ranks with the best of them. Actually, better. Why? Because it's a small location and the chef puts care into every dish he makes. Our server Daniel was so kind and attentive and made sure we were totally take care of. He made us feel so welcome from the moment we stepped in! The poke, ramen (gluten free friendly!), fried tofu and pork salad were out of this world! Total gem of door county!! Go now!!!

The outside tables are no frills, but get the job done.

New Hip Door County Japanese Restaurant with Sushi and amazing authentic Asian cuisine. Popping Menu. Abundant parking . Very helpful, attentive and friendly waitstaff. Just nice people who get it! Very clean and modern bathroom facilities. This is important to me and very impressive... Tidy and cozy interior restaurant space, but the outside dog-friendly dining area is ideal for cool summer evenings.

Food, Service, drinks all top notch. Next time we're in Door County we'll definitely be back!

We had hot chicken app and wontons. They were amazing. We had the bowls and ramen for dinner. Our service was fantastic! We will be back.

A tiny burrito shack selling flavorful bowls and burritos. To order you just follow the flowchart. Start by picking a bowl or burrito then a protein followed by one of 4 rice styles then a flavor combo. I got chicken burrito with cilantro rice, assado style (corn, cojita cheese, pickled onions, salsa and avocado). Not quite as flavorful as the big chains, but fresh and authentic tasting. The tiny shop has some outside seating and heat lamps and it wasn't too busy so we got the food pretty quick. Definitely a great lunch spot.

I had the veggie burrito. Kale, sliced Brussels sprouts, and julienned carrots. I chose the cilantro lime rice and went with the asada style. This consisted of sweet corn, caramelized onions, avocado, salsa Romo, and salsa verde. The order was ready in minutes as I waited. A generous portion packed with a lot of flavor. The ingredients all worked well together, leading me to believe that all proteins rice, and styles are interchangeable. The burrito was seasoned well without being too spicy. The burrito was warm not hot as I would have expected it to be being just made. I am looking forward to trying more burritos from Fat Belly.

This place gets super busy on Memorial Day weekend but they do a great job ensuring that they are fully staffed and can churn out food and drinks quickly. We ordered the 8 ounce New York strip plus CHOP steak salad (but make it Caesar). We both got cups of soup (lobster and crab bisque or garlic potato) which were incredible. Paired with a delicious cherry sour and an old fashioned. Exactly what we wanted after a good day of exploring. Make sure to go between 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM to get their $34.95 three course dinner special (soup or salad, main, and dessert).

Had I arrived any later, I would have had to wait for a table, which would have been terrible. There is no good space to sit and wait for a table; the bar is tiny; the bar abuts the front door, and is consequently very cold in winter; the tiny, cold bar is filled with patrons standing around waiting for a table. My darling wife and I were seated in the second floor dining room. The room was clean, and the atmosphere was decent... when the room was at-and-below 25% capacity. As the room began to fill, which didn't take long, it also didn't take long to realize that the layout of tables was poor. My table was far too close to the other tables; every table was too close to other tables. There is also no barrier in between tables. So, a large room, crammed with tables, each of which is too close to the other tables. Not great at all. And, thanks to the cramped quarters, I could smell the vile cheese smells from other diner's dishes which wrecked my experience. We ordered crab cakes. They were crispy outside, and the crab filling was moist, but there was so little lemon-garlic aioli that the cakes were rather bland. Furthermore, there were only two crab cakes serves, each of which was rather small. Drink orders placed with the waitress took a very long time to reach the table. The brandy old fashioned (sweet) that I ordered was not sweet at all and there was an overpowering amount of orange. A failure of this sort should not happen at a Wisconsin fine-dining establishment. The house Chop Salad was boring; a bunch of iceberg lettuce, too finely chopped, covered in ranch dressing, and lackluster bacon. My wife's filet mignon steak was appropriately prepared. The crispy duck, which I ordered, was served with a delicious cherry sauce but there was far too little sauce on the plate. The duck itself, when not coupled with any sauce, was rather boring. Also terribly boring was the bed of wild rice served with the duck. Why did you give me the duck's food? Feed that stuff to the duck and let me eat the bird served with a better side dish! Service was too slow and inattentive for my tastes. Every server looked like they were born in a foreign land, and I struggled to understand my waitress's English-as-a-second language. I don't need to go back. There is better dining available in Door County, especially given the prices asked.

We were seated right away, they weren't too busy even though we were there during the height of tourism season. It seems like they have some local regulars, which is always a good sign. The restaurant was dimly lit and nicely decorated, definitely an upscale atmosphere. We were so, so excited to find that Crate was a Coca Cola establishment. Those seem to be few and far between in Door County. So we happily ordered some Diet Cokes, and some refills. Come to find out later, they were $3 each!! I had a vegetarian sushi roll, and Deb ordered a Ramen bowl. They were pricy, but not more than one might expect from a touristy area. However, comma. $20 Crab Rangoons? Surely these must be some amazing rangoons, mother. We had to try. My sushi roll was fine, maybe a bit heavy on the vinegar from the sauce that was drizzled on it. The Crab Rangoons were hot and fresh, but honestly not any more amazing than those from my local Chinese restaurant. I likely wouldn't order them again at this price. If I am in the area again, I'd go to Crate if that is what the group wants to do. For me personally, it was just a bit too expensive for what it was.

Parking on historic 3rd Ave was easier than expected, probably due to the fact it was Sunday and most shops had closed by 4 p.m. We walked in and were greeted warmly, then settled into a nice booth to check out the menus. The menu was on the small side, but I noticed a pork belly ramen that sounded tempting. I ordered it without the pork belly though--my gut told me to skip it this time. My friend ordered a vegetarian sushi with tofu. We also shared six crab rangoon. They cost $20. Yes, TWENTY bucks! They were tasty, but honestly, nothing to write home about. We were happy to see it was a Coke place and ordered diet cokes and a refill. After the hot day, we were parched! But then the surprise hit: each diet coke was $3, and refills weren't free. We weren't warned beforehand, but okay. All told, with ramen, half the crab rangoon, two diet cokes, and tip, my meal alone bill topped $50. For the price, I expected a bit more. Probably won't be back if I'm ever back in the area.

The main dining room can get very loud on busy nights so I appreciated the more closed off space for a large dinner event. The caveat being we received spotty service - for example, water pitchers were set in the corner and you had to get up to pour your own water. At minimum, it would've been better to just leave pitchers on the table directly for faster access. Food was hit or miss. While we loved the appetizers, half of our table found their main entrees to be MEH. For example, my halibut arrived warm but the curry was room temperature. My colleague said her burger was one of the worst she's had. My other colleague said his steak was mediocre. People who ordered pizza loved it. An unfortunate mixed bag given the lively environment and nice ambiance. I'd come back again to give it another try because the menu rotates enough where I'm sure I'll land on some better food options next time.
