Yup, not that impressed by the level of service here again. I really did enjoy their beer so I brought my sister along so I could get her take on it. Being the meatheads we are the combo plate was ordered and no sooner than when I finished telling her how the last time I was here the plate was dropped off without any description of what was on it, it happened AGAIN. My sister did stop him before he left to tell us what was on it, which he did, no problem. So, why was it so hard to do it without prompting? We showed up on Saturday but it was nowhere near as crowded as it was my visit prior so, it wasn't like he was in a rush. My sister ordered the Ginger, which was the wrong move. I think their darker beers are better, which they make better. She agreed, it was a pretty indistinctive. We were still hungry after the combo plate so we split the Fat Bottom burger which was tasty enough, with the olives mixing in pretty well-I thought it would overwhelm but it didn't. We did eventually get a bartender who seemed to know what to do, chatting with regulars but still being able to check in on everyone but it was later in the evening. Coming in from Indy and stopped in on 7/2 before noon (don't judge). Ryan was tending the bar, offered us a taste of whatever we wanted to try. After a few tastings, settled on the Ruby Red Ale while my brother went with the Knockout IPA. Both beers were legit! We walked out with a mixed case of Knockout IPA, Ruby Red Ale, Teddy Loves Pilsner, and Pitch Invasion Lager for a small celebration later that day. We were a hit with the beers we brought, and I'll say the Pitch Invasion ended up being my favorite of the bunch! The space is great! cozy taproom, but plenty of space to roam. Outdoor space is also quite nice. It would have been easy to sit outside and quaff a few more because it was brutal hot that day! This was a fun stop for a flight of beer. We happened to be there on a night when they weren't very busy. The atmosphere was nice but there's nothing that really stands out. The server was very helpful and welcoming so we had fun doing the tasting. The fries with aioli were a nice appetizer to complement the beer. Ended up coming out to fat bottom not realizing the yelp event was canceled due to weather. We were quite bummed to hear the news once we arrived. The bartender took such good care of us and made our time there special. Even though we missed the event. We drank the IDA golden ale and it was my favorite. It's smooth with no bitter aftertaste. We tried the chicken and waffles, they were just okay, in my opinion it seemed a little dry. However the beer cheese sauce it's quite a show stopper! We asked for a side o go with our fries! Amazing. We also had the Asian wings and they were really good. I will come back and ask for a bowl of that cheese sauce then ask for anything and everything they have that I can use to dip it in. One of Nashville's original top-notch craft brewery staples. Their beer lineup if phenomenal and their food is incredibly tasty and original. One of the best items is the Hot Chicken Bao Buns. Holy shit... Hot Chicken meets Asian... YES PLEASE. The Baroness is my second-to-top rated and favorite beer of all time, and very much a must-try and must-drink. Their staff is always friendly and on top of things. The bar and restaurant area are unique and vibe well, there is a loft space that's super cool for groups, an attached ballroom venue that's amazing, and the brewery is observable and can be toured on-site. They have an outdoor beer garden that's fabulous as well, and they're right next door to Pennington Distillery if you decide to top it all off with something harder. They're excellent for destination access with good parking and street spots as well, ideal for biking and walking to, and easy to hop off the freeway to visit if you're just passing through. We're SO GLAD to have Fat Bottom in the West Nashville lineup. read more

We decided to stop at Fat Bottom Brewing as we were waiting to get into an air bnb near by. We still had all of our luggage so their outdoor space was a perfect place to hang after a day of travel and being tired of sitting! The Peach Italian Sodas were the fan favorite of our group. I really wasn't impressed with the flight I tried: IDA - golden ale, Ruby - red American ale, ACME - American wheat and ADMIRAL - Belgium Tripel. Fat Bottom Brewing has a new location in the Nations neighborhood in West Nashville and my friend and I decided to check it out. They have a spacious outdoor area and Hop Yard as well as tours of their brewery and even a private event space. There are big warehouse doors which great an open, airy atmosphere. When I came here a few people had their pups outside as its a dog-friendly environment out on the patio. I'm a big fan of one of their flagship beers, the Ruby American Red Ale. My friend got a beer flight and his favorite was 2 Hop Shakur (amazing name). They release seasonal beers and also have a line of sour and barrel-aged beer as well. They have a small menu that's mostly burgers and shareable plates like beer mac n cheese and hop fries. They have happy hour weekdays from 4-7 pm if you wanna try out some beers after work. It was busy when we came but the service was good and we were able to get seated quickly. I will definitely be back as all aspects exceeded my expectations! read more

I enjoyed the nice weekend weather outside at fat bottom brewing. There is parking available on site or street parking too. There are some specialty cocktails available if you are not a beer person. ***UPDATED REVIEW 5/7*** After our previous visit + review, management reached out to us and asked to remedy the situation. They invited us to come back once they had a full brunch menu and offered to cover our meal. We went back this morning and the difference in the food was night and day. We had the burger, chicken + waffles, fruit parfait and bacon. Everything was delicious, but in particular, the chicken and waffles was completely different than what we had on our first visit. This time it was 3 large pieces of fried, bone-in chicken over a bunch of delicious waffles - compared to a few small chicken fingers and 2 cakey tasteless waffles last time. This is also a wonderful, kid-friendly dining option, as our girls were running around the beer garden with other neighborhood kids who were there at the time. It's so nice to find local restaurants that have an atmosphere where children are welcome so that parents can still get out of the house and meet up with friends (sans babysitter). We definitely would have still come back, regardless, to give them another try, but the fact that they reached out to us and rectified the situation was so unexpected and kind. Nothing but great things to say and we are so happy to have a wonderful local business within walking distance of our house! ---------- We actually live in The Nations and wanted to go to the grand opening last Saturday, but they were slammed. We decided to go to brunch on Sunday instead. First of all, the staff was AWESOME. So polite, kind, attentive. We came with our two toddlers and they were so great about accommodating us. Tyler (I think that was the manager's name) was super friendly and even came to talk to us and introduce himself. One of the owners also came in briefly while we were there. The beer was great and we figured it would be - we love Fat Bottom! Our issues were with the food. First of all, we saw that the owners replied on instagram that there was a kid's menu, but this morning they told us they did not have one. They were kind enough to make menu items "kid-friendly" for us, we just weren't expecting that. The hours on their website are not accurate. We saw in various news articles that they would be open for brunch on Sundays, however their website still states that Sunday & Monday they are closed. Next, the fact that they promote they have "brunch" is not really correct. It's their typical menu and no breakfast items. We thought they would have some egg dishes or fruit, but it was just the lunch/dinner options. Also, they did not have champagne/mimosas/bloody marys. It would be awesome if they made those available! Lastly, the food was just ok. We ordered the Hot Chicken and Waffles, Beer Mac + Cheese, Hummus Plate and Hop Fries. The Hot Chicken and Waffles was the thing we were most excited about, but was the most disappointing. No heat, too much waffle and no sauce. The remaining three items were good, with the fries and hummus having great flavor, but it would be nice if they offered a few other things to dip in the amount of hummus they give you. The Mac + Cheese was good as well, but not great. We are so excited to have a local, small business within walking distance of our home and still feel positively about our overall experience. We did hear the staff talk about how they were "winging it" because they ran out of so many things last night for the opening. After getting back on instagram this afternoon, we realized that the food we were served didn't look like the "typical dishes", so I think that could explain why the food we had today wasn't very good. I do think if the manager knew we were getting sub-par food, we should have gotten a discount, but we are still planning to come back and try the food again. The setup at the brewery is the best in Nashville. I was blown away by how much room there is here as well as how great it is used. There is an outdoor area with tables, benches, and cornhole. That area was crowded since it was a nice day outside so we went inside. We sat at the bar and ordered a flight. The beer is great and I thought the Soccer Mom IPA was the best. I loved the atmosphere. Exposed brick, cool light fixtures hanging down, and a setting which was cozy but didn't make you feel like you were cramped in there. They did a phenomenal job designing this new location. Sitting at the bar we watched the bartenders make great looking cocktails. If you aren't into beer those are a good option. Although we didn't eat, the food also looked good. I highly recommend checking this place even if you aren't a beer lover. You will have a good time regardless. read more

Fat Bottom Brewing is located a stones through from the corner of 44th Ave N and Indiana Ave near the interstate 40 off ramp in the Clifton/Southwest part of Nashville. After some soul searching the owner/operator of Fat Bottom Brewing left a career in Software and opened Fat Bottom Brewing in 2012. The current location in the western part of Nashville is the second and more expansive incarnation of Fat bottom Brewing. Fat Bottom Brewing utilizes a wide variety of brewing styles form all over the world, thus creating bigger sexier craft beers. I visited FBB on a warm Tuesday afternoon, arriving just in time for "Happy Hour." During my visit I tried a sampling flight and a snack from the menu. The flight consisted of Knock Out IPA, Soccer Mom IPA, Rudy Red Ale and 2 Hop Shakur (draft only). The Soccer Mom IPA, a seasonal brew, was my favorite. From the menu I ordered the Beer Mac & Cheese (Cavatappi pasta, cheddar, smoked Gouda, Jarlsberg, Knockout IPA, onion, garlic and chives). The mac & cheese was creamy and delicious. The pasta was tinder and the three cheese blend melded together in mild smokey sauce that made my taste buds rejoice. The mac & cheese was topped with toasted bread crumbs and served in a miniature cast iron skillet. FBB is a taproom, beer garden and entertainment venue. The interior is casual and vibrant. The taproom and restrooms were clean. The staff was polite but aloof. The service was fast and with a smile. The beer garden is a large exterior space yet, quite and intimate. I would recommend FBB to a friend and the next time I'm in the Nashville area I will drop in again to try another delectable food item/tasty craft brew. read more

Currently sitting here for Father's Day. We didn't get greeted when we walked in the door, sign said seat yourself. We sat there for about 10 minutes and no one came up. Went up to the bar and the two bartenders still didn't great us, they were just standing and talking to each other. Mind you it was not busy at the time. We go sit outside and sit for another 10-15 and no one greets us again. I had to go inside and order. I stood there and interacted with an employee who was off the clock and all the employees on the clock were standing in a half circle. I just felt like I was in the way. I finally got to order; the server had a terrible attitude. He delivered our beer and basically slammed it down and left- didn't ask us if we were ready to order or anything. I again had to walk back inside and ask for a water for my nephew. After we finish our beer we are leaving and eating elsewhere. 0/10 stars. read more

Nice outdoor atmosphere but service is very slow. But my main problem with this place is they overcharged us. After waiting forever our bill, they finally came out with one of those tableside credit card machines and just told us how much our bill was... never have is an itemized receipt. I was in a rush to leave so I just paid what they said I owed. It wasn't until I got home, started thinking about it, and calculating it in my head that realized we were way overcharged. How could you not like this place with a name like Fat Bottom.. Fat Bottom is located in the Nations neighborhood and is a brand new space. Per our Uber driver they were previously located in East Nashville. They have an outdoor space with games and tables and also an restaurant/bar area which is good for kids. Beer is great, food is good. One of my favorites is the Ruby American Red Ale. Typical food options area shareable plates. My family ordered burgers and ordered they chicken salad on Naan which was a good lunch choice! Fat Bottom is a great time, and I will definitely be back! read more

Fat Bottom Brewing was probably my favorite out of the three breweries I visited while I was in town last, everything from the beer to the service was great. FBB is located just a short ride from downtown Nashville. Once inside you will immediately notice the brewery operations as you will be walking past the actual production to get to the intimate tap room located in the back, however don't worry because there is also an outside patio that looks perfect for spending evenings with friends. As usually I started off with a flight, which consisted of six 4oz pours. I was able to sample Ginger (Pale Wheat Ale - American), Ida (Blonde Ale - Belgian Blonde/Golden), Ruby Red (Red Ale - American Amber/Red), Knockout IPA (IPA-American), 2 Hop Shakur (IPA-American), Black Betty (IPA-Black / Cascadian Dark Ale). Out of all of the beers I have to admit that my favorite was a four way tie, between Black Betty, 2 Hop Shakur, Knockout IPA, and the Ruby Red, however if I had to pick one it would have probably been the 2 Hop. Each beer had a distinct taste and was probably some of the best beer I had during my trip. Personally I wanted to try their Bertha, which was an Oatmeal Stout, however it wasn't available on tap during my visit, so now I have a reason to return in the future. Fat Bottom Brewing was a highlight of my Nashville trip, they are brewing up some great beer and I know I will be back next time I am in town. Kudos to the staff, they were awesome and really on top of their game during my visit. I highly recommend making a stop if you haven't already tried their delicious beer! read more

New Saturday hang out alert. They created a real beer garden!!! Not only that but they served an incredible ($10) burger. New favorite gourmet burger, okay tied with Holland House. We also shared ($9) duck confit quesadillas. The tap room is decently sized but the real gem is the outside area. They have minimal tables along the wall but they have plenty of bench space in the green patio area. I still contend that this would be a great place to have a small wedding. It rivals Rumours East patio except it's minimalist/modern inspired instead of rustic and homey. I went for the sampler because you have to on the first visit. Even though I've had Fat Bottom at the EN Beer Festival I had to sit down and give it a real taste. I was really digging the Oatmeal Stout and strangely I like the Black Betty IPA. I HATE IPA's but I kind of like this one. It doesn't make sense. This place is awesome and it's going to change the area. This is one of our favorite breweries in Nashville. The space is really nice, although I wish there were more outdoor seats/tables. The beers are great, as you'd expect, and so are the appetizers. Definitely recommend getting there early on nice days. read more

We visited Fat Bottom after trying a brewery across main street (read my reviews under Nashville Weekend Without Kids for comparison) and it's an o.k. place. I did enjoy walking through the brewery area to and from the taproom as it gives you insight into what they're doing. The beers were decent-I liked the Ruby (Red Ale) and the Knockout (a hoppy IPA with grapefruit hints), while Bertha (Oatmeal Stout) was enjoyed by others. We had some snacks there and the shisito peppers, well, I ate a really hot one first so didn't really go further. GREAT Burgers! My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and although the place was crowded, we quickly found a seat and started reviewing the beer and food menu. I admit, I was a little skeptical about ordering food in a brewery, but my fellow Yelper's helped to guide me in the right direction by suggesting the Blue Cheese Burger...which I TOTALLY plan on ordering again in the future, it was THAT good! What I like most about this place, is that they use high quality, local ingredients in their food. The menu is what I would consider "elevated" pub fair, serving up FANTASTIC burgers, charcuterie platters, Bangers & Mash (with Porter Road Butcher house made sausage!) and many other yummy treats. I will say that when the kitchen is in full swing, the place get's VERY smokey...case in point, a couple walked in as we were finishing up and the remarked, "Is there a fire?"...no fire, just POOR ventilation. I have had a few Fat Bottom beers at area pubs, so I was excited to try the tasting room. Unfortunately it missed the mark. The space is cool, with beautiful long wood tables. We sat down quickly and got menus and our first orders in quickly. We received our beers pretty quickly. We had a Java Jane (coffee porter) and a couple Berthas (oatmeal stouts). The weren't bad but we just weren't rushing to finish them up. The Bertha had an unrefined sharpness to it, more like someone mixed the oatmeal stout with the IPA in haste. Not bad but not competitive with other craft brews. And yes, I love unfiltered beer - that wasn't the issue. We said we wanted to order food but the waitress disappeared. We went to the bar to order finally and the online menu turned out to be different from what was available. "We haven't had that since, like, last spring." I guess Winter Menu means last winter, not this one. The live entertainment was a nice surprise, a good band (I forgot their name unfortunately). For some reason only a few of the patrons paid any attention to the well-written lyrics and music. Things get better with time, and I'm optimistic Fat Bottom Brewing will improve, but this visit was a little disappointing. read more
