    Half roasted duck
    Jessika K.

Great customer service and food! We got the potstickers for an app, half roasted duck and a noodle soup each. If bones are something that you don't like or can't handle then grow up and still try the duck and soy sauce chicken! Very good but tedious to eat, this isn't something that bothers me personally but I know some people may have a tough time with it. The duck was delicious, great flavor, so well cooked. That alone will keep us coming back. Noodle soup broth had great flavor base, no need to add additional sauces (maybe some heat if you're into that). Pork belly skin was still crispy even after being in the broth which was a nice added texture to each bite. BBQ pork was delicious, sweet, sticky and fatty. Drinks are canned soda and I think they have some other items. All in all this place is fantastic. We can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu! Solid pricing too!

Food here is awesome first walking in decor is very nice large eating area very clean but nothing beats the hanging ducks and crispy pork in your face seeing that made me excited I ordered the ginger scallion chicken now that's a must try 8/10 my 2nd order was the duck and crispy pork belly soup broth was to light for me needed to add soy sauce and chilli paste but the pork belly alone was crispy had that Smokey taste...pork belly was 8/10 I for sure would order duck and crispy pork from here I can tell they put a lot into their roasted delights

Food is always fresh. I have visited a few times this time on the menu the orange chicken and green bean chicken combo plates were for the win. Food comes out hot and fresh and fast. The strawberry, mango and passion fruit teas are so good makes you want to order one to go. Service is always nice and very helpful everyone is always smiling. The located on the corner of a huge parking lot but the space makes it feel as if it's a diamond in the rough. We are always seated quickly and the tables and facilites are always clean. We will see you again in a few weeks.

Door dashed yesterday, food was pretty good. Ordered sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, pork chow-mien. My favorite was the rice.

It was surprising but also not surprising to see an authentic Chinese restaurant (also locally owned) right across from a Vallarta in Modesto! This place was a hole in the wall, and honestly blew me away after we covered different things. I liked how nuanced the environment was upon entry of the restaurant -- it made me and my partner feel at ease and at home. The table and the chairs looked rather new, with the chairs already pushed out for any and all incoming parties. The hospitality displayed utmost professionalism at the best of the servers at this restaurant were very attentive to not just our requests, but also, every person that was dining in. We asked for the three entree plate, and to my surprise, the ingredients were quite less than what I expected. For $13 it did not come as a surprise though -- with the rice and drink it was actually a budget friendly meal for each person. The ambience seemed really brand new, and the brand was on point with everything they had inside of the restaurant. I'll definitely be back to try more forsure, the next time that I'm around the Modesto area.

This was our first time trying Fat Boy Roasted Delights! We look forward to going again. My husband ordered a 3-meat bbq combo and the meat tasted sooo delicious. The duck was my favorite! The only note was the Bok Choy was cold and I think that could've been on purpose but we would've loved it warm! The service and staff were great and we just loved the feel of the restaurant. The location is great and right off of the freeway if you're driving through Modesto! Really cool place to stop and eat.

Great food, very flavorful. No queue on weekends. Nice decor and very friendly staff.

OMG.....when I first saw the outside, I assumed I was going to disappointed but I WAS SO WRONG. When I stepped in I thought I was walking into a Chinese restaurant in SF or San Jose (large asian community). The ambiance was to perfection. The photos of the duck and bbq hanging in Yelp photo don't do justice. When you see it in person AND smelling the food inside multiplies the experience 10x. The server communicating with customer in Chinese and makes it perfect. I ordered 3 item combo (soy sauce, chicken, spareribs, and honey sauce, and roasted duck). At first I thought they were frugal with portion but I understand I chose the most expensive bbq on their menu (roast duck +$1.00). The extra cost for the roast duck was worth. I can genuinely say, I'm coming back here for my future lunches and dinner. My family can go some other Chinese restaurant, but I'm coming back here. Quality of service:A+++ Quality of food: EXCEPTIONAL Price: $-$$ (won't burn a hole in your wallet) Note: don't let the outside entrance deceive you. Go in and check this place out for yourself.

First time here and we came with a bit of an appetite. We were seated and greeted right away. The restaurant has nice character. It took us a little time to decide exactly what we wanted. Then decided on a few appetizers. Appetizers- Cream cheese wontons Fried prawns Cucumber salad Entrees- Garlic chicken Barbecue pork chow mein House fried rice Half roasted duck Salt and pepper pork chops We enjoyed everything, it was scrumptious, but could not finish at all. A few to go boxes were necessary. And we're delighted with the experience. I do recommend fat boy, roasted delight

I loved everything. I got a matcha and garlic chicken and chicken broccoli and pork chow mein. What I really like about the matcha is that it's more earthy than sweet, I drink a lot of matcha. And it came in a to go cup already which is nice because I couldn't finish it before leaving. Fast and friendly service too with large portions of food. The chow mein chicken plate cost $11 and the broccoli chicken cost $13. And its cans of soda instead of fountain which I like more.

This is a new place we tried a few days ago. I wanted to try it because I have never had Duck before and they had roasted duck. This is a Cantonese style Chinese Food restaurant. Not sure what the difference is from regular Chinese food? Anyhow, the the roasted duck was good, but since I have never had duck before, I had nothing to compare it too. The sauce they served over it was excellent with a ton of flavor though. All of the rest of the food is your standard Chinese fare/dishes etc., except they roasted a couple different protein/meats here. One thing I will say, and found odd, is that they have combination plates, but if you want to substitute an item then it is no longer a combo, it becomes ala carte. It isn't like choosing from Panda Express. Something else of note. The water they use to prep things and cook in the Wok, tastes like unfiltered tap water and it translates to the food. If you are used to filtered water you can tell when water isn't being filtered. The rest of our food was just okay and nothing to write home about. There are better Chinese food options in Modesto. I was hoping this new place hit it out of the park. It wasn't awful on the standard dishes like chow mein, but the unfiltered water seemed to take away from the flavor.

My husband I decided to stop here after a long day and got food to go. I forgot to take pictures of his food. Upon entry we erected handed printed menus that had some items on the menu crossed out. Despite not having 3 items that menu had such a large variety. We were very pleased with our food portions even though our food was in to go containers. They really packed it. I loooooved the salt and chili pepper wings. They were crispy and delicious. My bbq combo plate was fantastic. When I was done with my food, you would've thought the container was already put through the dishwasher. No crumbs. I highly recommend to go check it out. We already discussed that we will be returning to try some other times on the menu. (:

Really good fried tofu, green beans, and of course the roasted duck! I recommend sharing some of the à la carte plates with friends or family! They recommend picking a seat if dining in and also have tea drinks!

Very pricey, food lacks taste. Tried 2xs Char Siu, Roast Duck, Roast Pork, their soups and chow Mein. Id rather spend $ on gas to Bay area.

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! If you're ever in Hughson, try the Hughson Asian Kitchen - the friendly staff and tasty food won't disappoint!

We called in an order for pick up, when I got there 15 minutes later it was ready and waiting. The 2 combo plates probably weighed 4 lbs in the bag. I honestly have no idea but it was hefty. The gentleman who helped me was also very nice and prompt. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lackluster. My orange chicken was miles away from crispy and the sauce was kind of bland. Also the chicken itself had that gross old chicken flavor that usually only comes from reheated chicken. The chow mein was also pretty bland. They did give chili sauce and soy sauce with the order, and adding those 2 things in spades did help with the lack of flavor. The cheese puffs were also disappointing. There was a good amount of crab in them, which is unusual for cheese puffs, however, the wrapper was thick and not crispy at all, mostly chewy, so all the enjoyable texture you expect wasn't there. My spouse had a combo with fried rice, beef & broccoli, and fried prawns. He liked it well enough but agreed it was pretty mediocre. The fried rice was pretty good but the beef & broccoli left a lot to be desired. In spite of the so so food, it's such a great price that it may be worth it to you. If you need a lot of food for not a lot of money, and you don't have high quality standards, this place will definitely take care of you.
