After a hard time deciding what to try (not for lack of options, but because everything looked so good), my husband went with the Perro Gordo and I went with the Joon Bug. We're both vegetarians, and there were plenty of choices. The Joon Bug: a pair of perfectly poached eggs atop a delicious black bean and pepper base, covered in hollandaise, came with a side of potatoes that were perfectly crispy and soft at the same time - plenty of food, for sure! Been to the Fat Dog kitchen twice now, both times were hands down the best breakfast in Dover. The first time I got the Fat Elvis and if you're looking for a sweet, slightly savory breakfast than this is PERFECT. Visited for the first time this morning and we all (puppy included) loved it! Our 15 week old puppy, Burke, was greeted by staff and other customers which was an amazing socialization experience for him. We sat outside due to not only the pup but the beautiful morning and enjoyed fantastic service during our meal. I had "The Abby" (corned beef hash Benedict) and it was delicious! My other half had the "Big Damn Burrito" which was the perfect size meal for him, definitely big, and had great flavor. We will be back and highly recommend it. read more

This is a cozy little place - lots to look at. You can play cards at the counter while you wait and play Simpson's Trivia. They even have an unsigned, celebrity photo of Eddie from Frasier. So, bad food or what - awesome decor. Luckily the food was great. We ordered a veggie sausage eggs benedict with tomatoey pesto and fried onions. Very yummy. Sometimes, a restaurant that tries to be unique and offer interesting flavors overdoes it. It was a little too sun dried tomatoey for me. The benny was good, not overly heavy or pretentious at all. The home fries were exactly what the inventor of homefries probably had in mind - lots of potatoey flavor, no fuss. We also ordered an egg sandwich with corned beef hash. That was the best of the lot. I do wish that the english muffin had been toasted with a ton of butter so it would integrate better with the sandwich. So, I will know for next time to ask for that. My new favorite local breakfast spot! Anything with their smoked pulled pork is amazing... great flavor and not an ounce of fat like you usually get with most pulled porks. Try the Cash's Favorite Benedict. You won't be disappointed. Always wondered what the fuss was about with fried green tomatoes and now I finally understand. They're delicious when done right. Their black bean burger is perfection and I probably get it at least twice a week. Today was truley one of the worst experiences we have had, nothing like being embarrassed by the owner of her own establishment, we sat down got coffee and ordered 10 minutes after served coffee my husband got a latin dish with over hard eggs and i got and sausage egg and chez sand on a toasted english muffin, we got our fiid pretty quick and my husbands eggs were soupy and my english muffin was raw and the egg was a plain omlet ,we asked to grab our check and she said was something wrong we told her so she showed the owner, the owner checked our slip and told the server out LOUD IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE DINING ROOM whats the problem server explained she said there is nothing wrong with this food and came over to us extremely hostile asking ehat the problem is we said we askes for the check she announced we are all set and this will not happen again never offered us the menu or to fix the problem she shamed us as if we did something wrong, sad i have been in the restraunt business for over 30 years and I have never been made feel like that. Don't be put off by the name. In spite of the image it may conjure up, Fat Dog offers exceptional comfort food and delicious salads, all uniquely prepared by a talented chef. So... I'd try this place again as this could have just been a bad day. Our server seemed very new and unaware of his surroundings. In placing my drink order, I wanted a hot tea and our server said that they didn't carry hot tea which seemed weird since what breakfast place doesn't have hot tea. I then noticed minutes later that someone had a cup of hot tea at one of the other tables. The orange juice is 4 dollars for a size that seems like a very very small. And the menu didn't have any other juice on it. However it is fresh squeezed so I get it. But 4 dollars for a small seemed a bit steep. I ordered for my meal the hotcakes with maple butter. I was watching the cook here and there and my hot cakes we're sitting on what I assume is the warming section of the griddle while the rest of the food for my party was being cooked. Needless to say, they were stiff and hard to eat. I also had to request the maple butter since they weren't served with it and had to wait to get it all the while the rest of my party had half their food finished. I don't know.... What a wonderful addition to our little Downtown in Dover. Paul, Steph, and Michelle greet you with warmth and open arms as you enter their restaurant...the bright decor triggered old memories of childhood with fun touches like a Donkey Kong HotWheels car, Simpsons trivia cards, and a line up of action figures. Truly like stepping into someone's home, as Steph herself said. The food was wonderful - thick cut bacon, flavorful grain toast, and good spicy black beans. Really enjoy this unique little eatery tucked away on 3rd street. The husband and wife owners are very friendly. The side cole slaw salad changes daily so ask what it consists of that day because it can be different than the last time you got it - my favorite is the one with the cilantro and green apple. Have only had lunch here with the Fidel being my preferred sandwich. Had guests come and each time they have all really enjoyed their meals. Only suggestion would be to have fresh brewed ice tea in the summer instead of bottled. read more
