The atmosphere is a dim lit date/family style with italian music. While the wait time was slow, it was a nice change of pace that made you enjoy the time you had with your company. If you do not have anywhere to be, this spot is a nice rest stop. Our server was amazing and had a wonderful personality. Her name was Lina. The star tonight was the quality of food. I had the pesto with salmon and it was delicious. It tasted authentic and was an enjoyable plate. I would come back again if I lived in Kentucky

My cousin chose this place for her 10th birthday since she loved this place and she had been here…read morebefore we had a group of 14 people. At first, everything seemed fine -- we were seated, looked over the menu, and placed our drink orders. However, things quickly went downhill. When my drink arrived, the rim smelled strongly of hand sanitizer. The server who brought it also smelled like hand sanitizer, which made me believe she had touched the rim of my glass with her hands -- something that should never happen. After we finished our drinks, we received no refills. When the server came back, she told us we had to specifically ask for them. Even when she brought out the salads, she could clearly see our empty glasses but chose to ignore it. We ended up waiting what felt like hours for our food. At that point, we asked to speak to the manager. To our surprise, the manager defended the same poor service and also said we were responsible for requesting refills. No one from the staff checked on our table to see if we needed anything or if everything was okay. The service was disrespectful and inattentive from start to finish. On top of that, we were charged significantly more for fountain drinks than they should cost (they quoted a much higher price than the typical $2-$4 range). Their lack of care completely ruined a 10-year-old girl's birthday celebration that she had been so excited about. We never even received our entrées and had to leave, which meant a lot of food went to waste. Had someone simply apologized and made an effort to fix the situation by saying something like "I'm sorry, we're a little busy we'll try to do better," we might have stayed. Instead, the indifference and rudeness were completely unnecessary. We will not be returning. Very disappointed and upset that a special family occasion was handled so poorly

Kitschy, yes, but despite that the food is genuinely spectacular…read more Bratwurst was super flavorful and cooked perfectly with a caramelized outside, a good snap, and a moist inside. The pretzel bun was heated appropriately and had the right amount of flavor. The optional spicy mustard is really powerful. My only possible complaint would be that the spatzle were a bit on the soggy side, perhaps overcooked. That said, the spatzle also come with an incredible sauerbraten gravy. My only regret, really, is not having had dessert.

Atmosphere is fun, it really embraces the German decor (saw a review or too calling it kitschy, in a good way, which I think is a fair description). Service is friendly and attentive (and in the costumed German garb to keep with the themes). Lots of classic German dishes (several schnitzel varieties, brats, spatzel, etc.). I won't say anything I've had over the years blows me away, but haven't had a bad choice either. The Wiener schnitzel I had most recently was tender and tasty, with a perfectly fried batter, and the German fries were nicely crisped on the exterior and beautifully seasoned. Good beer selection (including some brewed for the restaurant), reasonable wine list...love that you can go all out and have your beer in the classic giant boot! Small gift shop as well, some souvenir items as well as some candies and food options.

The service was phenomenal - from the hostess to the bartenders, you could tell everyone took pride in their role and was proud of their food and the experience they provide to their guests. The bread service is warm sourdough bread served with dipping oil that has roasted garlic cloves inside - yum! For dinner, mom had their sea bass special which was excellent. I went all out and got the 16 layer lasagna, which has 4 different types of meats. Soooo good and the size was large enough that I had the leftovers again the next night. Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu. One of the best Italian spots in Louisville - 5/5!

My party was seated back corner and it was very awkward for the servers to maneuver to refill drinks or bring/take plates away, at one point they had to stand on the window ledge & it just seemed very awkward and uncomfortable having to constantly re-adjust seating just so they can squeeze by. The whole step up area was just crowed. I love the giant mural they have on the wall with details, low lights, & just nicely displayed table setting. I ordered beef carpaccio and was very excited due to seeing how popular this dish is online and it was pretty tasty, kinda like a salad. For my entree I ordered braised short rib and it was like a roast style and very tender, paired with well seasoned collared greens, cheesy grits, and zucchini! Very filling, was stuffed!! My partner & I would love to go back & we definitely enjoyed ourselves!
