I have mixed feelings on Grassa Gramma... First, it is a beautiful restaurant but on my last visit felt very dirty. Our menus were greasy. Silverware was spotted and dirty. Black particles in the water. If this had been my first visit I probably would have left. There's no excuse for a dirty restaurant. Service was much slower on this visit as well. Our first visit a few months ago was perfection. This one disappointed. Hopefully it was an off night. We will try again. But at these prices, you do expect better. read more

It's been a while since our last visit and there was a new "sheriff" in town. Ok, a new general manager, and things had slipped a bit. The food was still excellent, but service was off. Grassa Gramma has a Monday night special. $22 for a specific entree, salad & a glass of wine. If you don't have reservations, you probably won't get seated. But knowing the expected crowd, there's really no reason to be short staffed. The table seated next to us, already ordered prior to us arriving, was served after us. Our service wasn't so severe, but we had some difficulty snagging a server for salt & pepper, or, even a water refill. What really dinged the experience, was a small cup of salad dressing slipped off the table and hit the floor. It was never cleaned up. We had pointed it out to our server, food runner, and the busboy. Not one of them bothered to clean up the mess. Grassa Gramma can be an elevating experience. Superior food, service and ambience. Our dining group of 5 met here to support a 10% of all sales donation for one of our mutual friends. When we entered the lobby area for our dinner reservation, we reiterated the reason for our visit and reception staff handed us tokens to provide to our waitstaff at the end of our evening as a prompt. We were led upstairs to a somewhat cramped loft area to dine and were very careful with navigating the stairs. Lighting is very dim (see my photo of my dinner for instance) and noise level is moderate. Food is good. Service is okay. Ambiance at this price point was disappointing. My friends and I went to Grassa Gramma for their brunch buffet. This buffet had a variety of options from today brunch food (waffles, made to order omelets, fruit) and traditional Italian food (meatballs, bolognese, chicken piccata). The brunch also came with unlimited juice, tea and coke products. Our server, Ellie, was attentive and informative of the menu. She also took care of an issue with our omelets. The omelets , although made to order, were cooked overcooked and rather salty. The staff did attempt to cater to our complaints. The ambiance was appealing and made the setting feel like a traditional restaurant in Italy. I enjoyed the live music. The staff were accommodating with taking photos for our group. The meal included 6 course and an assortment of wines which included dessert for $99 a person plus tax. Was a great event, best money I spent in a while. All the courses were excellent. What a fabulous place to visit for an authentic Italian dinner! Our experience began when we approached the doors. They're huge, heavy, beautiful and imported from Egypt. Upon entry, we were greeted by staff and handed a glass of champagne to enjoy while we awaited the preparation of our table. The restaurant is dark, which adds to the ambiance. We selected a table on the balcony that overlooks a fountain in the middle of the restaurant. This place isn't short on theme/ambiance. My companion and I shared bread and a grilled Caesar salad before our separate entrees of beef and pesto lasagna. The food was outstanding and so was the service. When my friend suggested we have a ladies' Friendsgiving at Grassa Gramma on the night when proceeds were going to Dare to Care, my answer was an easy yes. I had last enjoyed Grassa Gramma during the pandemic via some takeout, and I've been wanting to go back ever since. This time, I got got see the interior. Wow! I had heard the restaurant was impressive, but that didn't adequately describe the experience. Someone in my group said that the space used to be a former theater -- I believe it! Large wooden doors beckon you in, and every inch screams Italian, from the soft lights to the lush, comfortable interior. A second surprise: the complimentary chianti toast to set the tone for the meal. And that feel of celebration and cherishing the experience carried throughout. I got the cacio e pepe, my Italian go-to. And this was one of the best I've had. The cheese and pepper were in perfect harmony. I also started with the Caesar salad -- something else I'm definitely getting again. From first impressions to saying goodbye, this an A+ experience all around -- plus we got to help support Dare to Care. What an interesting find ...little piece of Italy in the Kroger parking lot. Very interesting decor and so much to see. If you are looking for some Instagram content this is the place for you. Service was excellent. They started us off by offering a traditional Chianti toast. We also for some delicious focaccia bread with olive oil. I enjoyed the chilled peach Caprese salad. 3/19/26 my husband and I went to Grassa Gramma to celebrate my birthday. We love the atmosphere and decor here. Our server tonight was Ashley W. We were seated on the floor at what I like to call the Bicycle Table. We came on $22 Monday Meal Deal Night. It comes with a chosen pasta dish, a choice of a Caesar or a seasonal house salad, fresh baked focaccia and a glass of house red or white wine. The night we came, they had Rigatoni Bolognese. Oh my, it was absolutely delicious. Ashley came by very often to check on us and the Assistant Server came by as often to refill our water glasses and clear our plates. We had such a lovely time. The place is beautiful and definitely sets the scene. The service was great and attentive. But I'm here to talk about the food. It was spectacular. Started out with the carpaccio which I unfortunately did not get a picture of but it was delicious. I got the cacio e pepe and as a lover of black pepper it was amazing. Our server Andrew was fantastic! I found this restaurant on TikTok and am so happy we decided to dine here. We were visiting from Sacramento and would highly recommend to anyone traveling to the Louisville area. The food was flavorful and fresh. There was a slight mixup when we came in for our reservation. They were going to seat us outside when I had requested a standard table when I made the reservation a while back. We wanted to sit inside to experience the ambience. I have an egg allergy and was a huge pain in the butt ordering. I think our server was name Brianna. Then after I asked to make something not on the menu she noticed I wasn't drinking my drink and I said it was a little light on the ginger beer and she had the bar tender remake it. As always Grassa Gramma for the win! My guys celebrate their birthdays 3 days apart and we chose to Celebrate here. Our waiter Kane was the absolute best ever! Literally made great suggestions and catered to our every need. (Even my gluten free bougie self.) We had the bread regular and GF. An Appetizer, Italian sodas, lemon cello spritzer. On to the entrees! Pizza, wagyu beef entree with shrimp the lobster tail and lobster ravioli and the carbonara. They brought my guys the chocolate mousse celebration desserts, and we also chose the Neapolitan gelato. It's like sitting in a restaurant in Italy. The decor the lighting and the food. I don't know if there's another place in the city with more immaculate vibes. Stepping inside Grassa Gramma is like being transported. The decor is very on brand for their rustic Italian menu. I'm not an expert on Italian food by any means - but I thought the food was great. I had the lasagna and I split a Caesar salad. They put their on spin on the Caesar salad in that the romaine lettuce was grilled - I thought it was great. I love the focaccia bread they provide and the service was top notch. They were able to find that perfect balance of anticipating what we needed without smothering us. read more

**Update** I did receive clarification that the cancellation fee is only for groups of 10 or more. Open Table did require me to input a credit card for our group of 4. So I'm not sure if I misread something. This is kitschy in the BEST way. It feels like you are stepping into an Italian plaza. The wine toast was a bit much but we weren't going to turn down wine. I got the cacio e pepe along with a glass of wine. The servings are extremely large and we all ended up taking home more than half our meals. The wine was good and fairly priced. We also enjoyed the tiramisu as well as several cannoli. Overall, everything was just ok. The one warning is that if you book a reservation through Open Table, you have to put a credit card on file. There's a $75 charge if you fail to cancel your reservation in a certain amount of time. I was a bit shocked by this, especially when the restaurant sat mostly empty while we were there. this was my first time visiting this restaurant. the decor is definitely unique. it looks like a cross between a haunted house and an Italian village. the bread is pretty decent. our waitress Lauren was excellent and did a great job. We have been going to Grassa Gramma for several years and our last visit was extremely disappointing. Ordered the calamari and it was overly salted and extremely greasy. Out of 5 diners 3 ordered pasta dishes and 2 ordered steak. The pasta dishes barely had any sauce ( lobster alfredo and linguine with seafood. ). The steak special was fine but the mashed potatoes tasted completely of lemon. The filet did not seem to be of the quality of our past visits. Grassa Gramma is very expensive and definitely expected a better quality dining experience. The new menu items were a miss with our family. It was also disappointing to see a 93% health rating. Hopefully they will bring back the quality of Grassa Gramma from past years. read more

The restaurant was genuinely beautiful. There's probably not another restaurant in Louisville with the aesthetics and ambiance of Grassa Gramma. Our server, Ely, was outgoing and pleasant. For the price, the calamari was a bit lacking. Same with the side of broccolini... My wife loved her pizza margherita, but my hanger steak was cold, although cooked perfectly. We dined at Grassa Gramma for an early New Years Dinner. They offered a special of wagyu filet with your choice of a lobster tail or scallops, as the waitress phrased it. The entree was decent. We got the bill and they charged $160 for the single entree....Granted we did not ask the price when we ordered, but at the time they offered a Wagyu filet on their regular menu for $79 (menu has since been changed as of 1/2 and appears they have upped their prices). I was truly floored that they would sell a special so incredibly marked up, and make it seem like it included either lobster or scallops, but in fact charged us for those as well. At that time, the $79 filet was the most expensive thing on the whole menu! I called the restaurant a day or two later and asked to discuss our experience but unfortunately never received a call back. Disappointing as we had dined there before and had a good experience, but certainly felt taken advantage of. Order specials with caution! read more

both my wife and I ate at your restaurant on July the 5th around 4:30pm. We had a great waiter but when our food arrived both dishes were lukewarm at best. The waiter took them both back and we got them back okay, but while we were waiting they brought us some bread and it was to hard to even bite into. The manager stopped by to apologize and gave us a dessert of our choice. The waiter also gave us a card to fill out and we put my name and email on it. He also said someone would be contacting us. I took my five-year-old son to Grassa Gramma for a mommy and me date on a Monday night. I had heard that the decor was ornate and was hoping to make my son feel like he was someplace fancy and special. I think this place fits the bill, regardless of who your date might be. I ordered the Monday night special. This weeks special was Cacio E Pepe with a choice of Italian sausage or chicken. It was served with a choice of salad, red or white wine and focaccia bread. I opted for the chicken, Caesar salad, and red wine. My son ordered off the kids menu. He ordered spaghetti and meatballs with a side of milk. The atmosphere was elegant. There was a fountain in the center of the room, stone statues, oversized entry doors, chandeliers, with a mix of rustic wood and stone. It's truly a beautiful restaurant. The service was top-notch. We were greeted warmly and checked on frequently. The food was good. And while the cuisine didn't necessarily knock my socks off, I would go back for the ambiance and service alone. read more
