I stopped by hoping to grab lunch but unfortunately they don't open until 5pm. So bummed, I parked in a designated spot for Fat Dragon and walked to the Baskin Robbin's in the same lot. When I returned in 5 minutes, a person who I assume was an owner began yelling at me. He yelled and asked if I read the sign. I told him they were closed but that it was my mistake for taking up the spot but he continued yelling to the point he began cussing. He got close to me and continued yelling and at that point I told him if he got closer there would be a much bigger problem than a parking spot. The man continued yelling but backed away and left me alone. Needless to say to say, I won't be back. But the cappuccino blast from Baskin Robbin's almost made this experience worth it. Fat Dragon has decent food but not worth putting up with that much yelling. Guess Fat Dragon skimped on the customer service part of the training. read more

Fat Dragon really missed the mark with the strawberry sweet rice drink I tried at the Family Style food festival. It was honestly one of the worst drinks I have ever had. Instead of tasting sweet or refreshing, it came across like a strange alcohol seltzer with rice, except without the alcohol. I could not taste any strawberry at all, and it did not resemble the "sikhye" flavor it was supposed to have either. It ended up tasting like plain sparkling water with some rice mixed in, completely lacking in flavor. I want to believe my drink was just made incorrectly because it was such a letdown, but as it was, it did not work at all. Service is very friendly here and the food is solid. I usually order the chicken lo mein and it is tasty. The tea selection is good. Not sure why but the orange chicken wings were on the takeout menu but I didn't see them on the regular menu. I enjoyed them and think they should be a regular item. The egg rolls have been hit or miss. I prefer takeout v. dine-in because the restaurant is usually really chilly and they don't have a bathroom. YUM! My partner and I were looking for some good takeout Chinese food. We got the dragon noodles, steak & mushrooms, and pork wontons. Everything was very tasty, and it was ready pretty quickly on a Saturday night. The best part was that the staff offered us their homemade chili sauce, and when they saw how excited we were, they offered us extra!!! For free! We go to another takeout spot by us that literally refuses to give us the sauce displayed on the tables. The restaurant is nice, clean with minimal decoration. Ray, our server was really friendly and explained the menu nicely. The orange chicken flavor was great but we were not happy with the texture. We were expecting the chicken to be crunchy but it wasn't. The eggplant is amazing. We agreed that it was our favorite dish. The chow fun was also very tasty. The serving sizes were generous and enough for both of us to be full and have leftovers. We would definitely go back and would order the eggplant and noodles but would try some other meat dish. This place deserves more 4-5 star reviews. Honestly, what drives most people away are the prices because it is a little more expensive than your average Chinese food takeout, but they give you so much food in each to-go box. What you get is really worth what you pay. This place is currently only takeout or delivery (Door Dash/Uber Eats). I have not been here in person, but I definitely do plan on it to pick up my own future orders. So far I have tried the following: Orange Chicken (10/10) - The first time I tried this I thought it was okay, but only because it is not your typical orange chicken. I also found it to be not as flavorful the first time. I gave it another try yesterday and I realized this is a "healthier" orange chicken, It is not breaded. Rather than being coated in breading, it is chunks of chicken coated in the sauce and sesame seems. It does have a little kick of sweet and sour. I recommend giving this a try even though it's $20!! Dragon Noodles (10000/10) - This is my favorite item so far. I love how spicy it is and it is VEGETARIAN. Of course, you may add meat if you would like for extra $$. This is sort of like Chow Mein, but spicy and flavorful. There are bits of sichuan peppers and jalapenos in each bite. I have always preferred rice over noodles, but I have to get this every time I order from here!! Egg Rolls (7/10) - The egg rolls did not catch my attention that much. They are like every other egg roll you can order on the side at Chinese restaurants, just a bit more filled. Sweet and sour is also available on the side. Spicy Eggplant (10/10) - I was so amazed at how much eggplant my container was filled with!! They were not shy on the eggplant, which I truly appreciate because I LOVE eggplant. Compared to other restaurants, this was very garlicky, spicy, and pure eggplant with green/red bell peppers. I think adding meat is also available for extra $$. A fat dragon is a happy dragon in my book! The food here is really good and comes out quick and it is not heavy or greasy at all. It's totally a casual spot serving some seriously tasty Chinese goods while serving some Drake in the background too. Here are the deets on what is seriously filling and delicious (in order of tastiness!): 1. Dry sautéed string beans - ooooooh soooo delicious! Really savory with some heat and whatever soysauce and dry sautéed method used really sticks to these greens, making them super "wet" - somehow this vegetable side dish (which is pretty large when you order take-out and easily shared by more than two) feels like party-in-your-mouth food! Not to be missed! 2. Fish in black bean sauce - soft, large chunks of white fish in a deliciously mild sauce with a lot of crunchy red onions and peppers. Tastes pretty healthy and balanced well with the extra-flavored green beans over a bed of their yummy kinda-sticky white rice! 3. Lo mein - think somewhat thick and more starchy noodles than in a classic Chinese lo mein but with perfectly cooked al dente veggies, bokchoy included. Pretty perfect way to complement a protein of choice! Add a bit more of salt and some spice and you'll be blown away! The prices are good at this neighborhood Silverlake joint and though I've only ordered take out, they are always friendly in the space inside. We ordered the Dragon Fried Rice, the Dragon Noodles and Mary's Orange Chicken. The food arrived warm and it smelled amazing even in its boxes! The rice comes with a Chinese sausage and bacon that are delicious. The orange chicken was tasty especially the sauce but I wished it was a little juicier. The noodles were thick and spicy. I'm Mexican and on a spicy level of 1-10 they were about an 7.5 so keep that in mind before you order them. read more
