we've been craving okonomiyaki since our osaka trip, and this hit the spot!! i am so happy this place has a vegan option, but as a vegetarian that eats eggs, i was able to ask for any of the other options without the meat and bonito flakes. i chose the spicy goam with the soft noodles, and it was the perfect balance of spicy and garlicky goodness. it was so delicious, i already can't wait to come back. service was attentive and friendly. this place tends to get busy, so i would recommend putting your name down early!

Two years ago, I went there to eat Japanese food. Their takoyaki was also very famous. We ordered two different flavors, and they were really delicious.

If you love Japanese pancakes, you have to come here. It's located in little Tokyo so you know it's gonna be good. Came on a Saturday early evening and was surprised they weren't super busy. I had the Spicy Goam with soft noodles and chinchikurinyaki with crunchy noodles. Both were good. I like how they have the burners on so your food stays hot while you're eating. I was surprised how dirty the floor was by our table. . Would I come back? Absolutely. They serve their Okonomiyaki Hiroshima style. And it's hard to find. So yes I'll be back next chance I get. I also love that you can watch them prepare your food. That's a plus.

You are greeted by a device to sign in wghich links to Yelp on your phone. I do that but 5 mins later a clueless group on the sign in just waltzed in and the server seats immediately. I complain but the server just moves on without apology... luckily there is seating at the counter AND we were able to get our order in first.... We ordered the Hiroshima and the hip Goam. My home cooked Hiroshima style is actually better... the restaurant's yakidoba part is simply noodles cooked in boiling water, then doused with oil and simply cooked on hot griddle after making shape... at the end, the okonomiyaki comes outpretty light on the nori and no bonito flakes?! Now. I say mine is better because I take the next step after cooking the noodles to add yakisoba sauce and stir-fry the YAKIsoba....

Great food, comfortable seating, friendly and helpful service. Located in the Japanese Village Plaza We had the Ika Ika okonomiyaki, fried ramen with squid, it was amazing. Very flavorful and with lots of veggies and meat inside. We also had Tan Tan Ramen, most of time, ramen in most places are too salty to my taste, so I asked to taste the soup first. It was very flavorful but indeed very salty for me, so I asked for some hot water on the side. The waitress was super helpful and it was great. I loved the soup. The noodles were Al dente. Note: they validate parking, but only for the lot next to the Japanese Village parking, not the one the other side.

Kind of okay. I think it was exciting over the years to have one of those tableside make your own okonomiyaki place, but never tried it. Apparently since covid they kind of stopped using the table service, but they still set it on the plate to cook it. Its kind of different than the expected experience of pouring the batter and trying to get the best chef award. I think it was a different region of okonomiyaki than I was used to too, since when I made it at home I always used more cabbage filling and this is more of a yakisoba. I found the thin rice paper shell they had on top and bottom to easily hold it together to be tough and chewy and the flavors were just there. They do have the proper kewpie mayo and okonomiyaki sauce though. The service was good, id go for the heavier weird flavors like the spicy mayo as it seems a little americanised. Kind of missing the experience but fast and attentive service, family friendly.

I only had a sliver of the wrap because I forgot to take a picture. LOL! But it was good.

So I just wanted to try that Oko Wrap because the advertisement fold-out sign outside made it look appetizing with a convincing price ($8 at the time of this review). You can only get this item through the QR code and is a strictly to-go item so if you're not technical or care too much about online orders and apps, I'm not sure how you can try this item. Also, there may be hacks and such to get it (other than that QR code), but I don't know much. Also, we waited longer than we should've because apparently, our order was ready and sitting behind the counter but no one called it out. I'm glad we got the notion to ask about it, so I'm not necessarily happy about that. It's 2026 though so I have to keep up with app ordering or something. Wah. About the wrap though...pretty delicious. I enjoyed. It's beef and quite flavorful, easy and fun to eat. And would get it again.

I love okonomiyaki and was excited to discover that there's a spot in Little Tokyo that serves Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, which uses noodles. I stopped by for dinner Thursday evening around 6 pm and it wasn't crowded at all. My party of 3 was seated immediately. We parked at the nearby Aiso parking garage as that was the cheapest I could find from my research online, though I heard other customers get their parking validated here at a different garage. The space is shared by two different spots, one that specializes in okonomiyaki and another that specializes in takoyaki. However, the menu spans offerings from both. We were all starving, so we each got an okonomiyaki. The good thing is that they can customize the ingredients, so my friend who only eats chicken was able to get his with ground chicken and no fish powder. They also can make a vegetarian okonomiyaki if you ask. Even though they have the iron grills in front of you, don't expect to cook anything yourself (which is what I'm used to with eating okonomiyaki in Japan). They cook for you in the kitchen and the grill in front of you is only to keep the okonomiyaki warm as you eat. I split two different okonomiyaki with my other friend - the Chinchikurinyaki ($19.50) with ground beef one and the Hiroshima ($20) with pork and fried squid. You can choose whether you want soft or crunchy noodles. For the ground beef one, we got soft, and for the fried squid one we got crunchy noodles. I really enjoyed both okonomiyaki, though to be honest there wasn't a huge difference between the soft vs crunchy noodles. Even the "soft" noodles were on the hard side. Also, this is normal for okonomiyaki, but there wasn't much meat inside. We were filling up mostly on noodles and some veggies. The amount of sauce that they put on the okonomiyaki was nowhere near enough. There was an additional packet of okonomiyaki sauce and kewpie mayo on the table, but we asked for more. Essentially we went through a packet per person. I'm not sure why they don't have this in a bottle, as that's pretty standard at other okonomiyaki restaurants I've been to... Service was good. They're very proactive about filling water and came up to ask if we were done and ready to pay while we were still finishing our last bites.

Crunchy Shoyu Takoyaki 5/5 Spicy GOAM 5/5 Service 4.5/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Overall 4.5/5 I always forgot how good Chinchikurin is! We probably have it every other year (since we live in the Arts District, about one block away). Each time we come back it's always just as tasty! Okonomiyaki is basically a savory Japanese pancake. It is layered with crisp cabbage, bound together with eggs and flour, your choice of protein, and griddled to golden perfection. At Chinchikurin it is also layered with yakisoba noodles. Our favorite Okonomiyaki is the Spicy GOAM which has spicy chili oil, spicy mayo, and jalapeños. The Crunchy Shoyu Takoyaki is my husband favorite Takoyaki at Chinchikurin because of the sweet shoyu sauce and crunchy fried onions on top. I'll be back at Chinchikurin again soon!

B&c really good savory 8/10 The classic goo 6/10 Goam egg and noodle not much flavor 6/10 Tantan good savory peanut sauce light 9/10 I'm not a big fan of noodles could be biased Very warm so recommend sitting outside, big open area and nice bar to sit at. Our server was really nice and there was no wait on a Thursday at lunch time. Plenty of parking and indoor seating. Interior was decorated like a traditional Japanese izakaya. The staff cooks the okonomiyaki in the kitchen and brings it out to your table on a skillet so it's not as messy as bbq. Hiroshima: the flavor was good and not very squid forward. We ordered traditional noodles so it was a softer pancake than the crispy. Corn Cheese Mayo: we ordered this as crispy which was a more fun texture than traditional. Very corn heavy and the cheese was neutral like a mozzarella. The mayo is kewpie. Two is definitely a lot for three people so don't order one for yourself unless you like leftovers.

Always a fun experience and great food. This time I ordered the Chinchikurinyaki and LOVED it. I haven't ordered it before with beef. Gonna look for the shibouriyaki mix recipe. Great way for us to kickoff AAPI Heritage Month on 5/2. We arrived early evening with no wait (hopefully many were still watching films supporting the Los Angeles Asian Film Festival). Service was quick, friendly and attentive. I always enjoy watching the chefs prepare and cook the okonomiyaki.

I was always curious about this place whenever we are in the area so finally I joined the waitlist last weekend. While my son was checking out the stores I joined the waitlist after 2pm and I think I only waited 15 minutes and I got the notification that we need to go to the restaurant. It was very warm last Saturday so when we got there we were seated inside. This was our first time so we had to browse over the menu. Since there's only 2 of us, we ordered the Hotate Mentayaki (scallops) and original takoyaki. I had a Sapporo (good on a hot day) and we also ordered the shirokima shaved ice for dessert. The restaurant wasn't as busy during this time and on hot day it felt a bit warm inside (add the heat coming from the teooan table) so probably would not pick to eat outside unless you don't mind the heat. The food itself is very savory with different layers of flavor. It's our first time trying okonomiyaki and it will not be our last. The scallops is the featured one in the menu (full page as they say that the scallops are from Hokkaido Japan) is what we ordered. There were only 4 scallops (though the menu shows 5) so next time will try the different varieties. If you're 3 or more would suggest to order 2 kinds of okonomiyaki. For 2 you can share and order something else, the takoyaki was not as crispy outside but it has great gooey flavors inside. Try the okonomiyaki without the sauces and with it so you can taste the difference. Dessert was melt in your mouth snow like shaved ice. Very creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. Love the red bean and mix it with some of the fruits to get all those flavors in one bite. Would highly recommend this place if you're in the area. It's something different if you're into Japanese food.

Where to park and how much? Parking validation?

Park at Japanese Village Plaza parking garage. The restaurant will validate parking for you.

What type of noodles is in their signature dishes? Egg? Wheat? Rice Noodles?

    no idea- but it's wonderful

Has anyone done pickup? How does the okonomiyaki hold up when it has to be driven home before being eaten? We loved visiting this place in person and I miss it mightily. I'm just not sure if take out would be the same. Asking in the time of covid-19.

I live an hour away and it held up along the way home! I would just ask for more kewpie mayo and that black sauce since the amount they give is kinda small.

    Are there vegan options?

    yes

Does this place accept reservations for groups?

You can also I believe put yourself on the waitlist thru Yelp.

Do they have kid size options?

Regular sized kid over here... 1 order is still to big for me. I usually have anywhere between 1/2 - 1/4 of an order to take home.

Is the restaurant open all day Sundays?

    Yes

It was just so impressively juicy and tender with great flavors scallop crudo ($24) - juicy! Solid appetizer although i feel like the cuts can be thicker and more fresh - i especially liked the slices of citrus pairing; it didnt feel extra but a nice complement to the smokey, strong green sauce on the side - ive had better crudo but this was pretty good still yakisoba ($19) - i love noodles omg although i dont know why the noodles here were cut very short LOL and it is on the softer side - the sauce was really yummy; sweet and savory; i believe it's okonomiyaki sauce or something similar; on the saltier side so itd be nice if they just lessen the amount of sauce - the texture was slightly crunchy with cabbage and veggie which i liked - wagyu was tender - not a must order because you can make this easily at home and for way cheaper! 6 pcs wings ($15) - i got enticed by the soy garlic hot honey flavor but the wings from bbq chicken are lowkey better - still a good, tender, juicy wing, but nothing memorable or impressive than your average wings that you can make at home rating: 4.5/5 - ordered 6 items and everything was solid! Of course there are areas for improvement but they're not anything jarring that would lower my rating for this spot - it is also extremely rare for me to like everything i order at a restaurant so the quality is definitely there - super friendly and genuine service! Server took her time to explain and accommodate us - casual date night tapa vibes; not your typical bright japanese izakaya spots but more so a dark, moody bar vibe, which is cool - would recommend and come back to try other items! The pacific oysters are a good size and I really enjoyed the yuzu-kosho ponzu sauce on it. The spicy tuna crispy rice have a good amount of spicy tuna on top & I loved how crispy they made the rice underneath. The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13
