I wanted to love this place. The cookie I got was honestly amazing, easily a 5-star product. Super fresh, great texture, and packed with flavor. What brought my rating down was the experience at the counter. After paying $4 for a cookie with my card, I was prompted to leave a tip for what was essentially just placing the cookie in a bag. I chose no tip, and the employee visibly reacted and said "wow," which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. I'm all for tipping when it's earned, but moments like that take away from an otherwise great product. A simple thank you for supporting the business would have gone a long way. read more

I gave it two stars due to the quick service, but that's about it. I ordered an iced honey-vanilla latte with regular milk. When I received the drink, I clearly saw the gradient of milk and espresso. However, when I mixed everything and drank the latte, it just tasted like syrup and water mixed. There was no taste of coffee or milk, which was really confusing, given the clear visual that I had before mixing. I tried to finish the coffee, yet I couldn't take more than a few sips before I ended up throwing the entire drink. I liked their chocolate chess pie which in my opinion tasted like a brownie in pie form. This pie had an interesting and rich chocolate flavor that you could really start detecting towards the end of each bite, and I really loved its crust which I thought had a brownie-like texture. F&F is on the charts because of French butter and pulling no stops on luxurious recipes. The cookies are chewy and flat because the butter content is super high and not refrigerated before baking. The Chess pie is the Southern traditional version with cornmeal based dark chocolate pudding (not the plain egg custard version), a solid 6% whipped cream and the whisper of white vinegar is there. I'm happy with the laid back service especially after this near 12 hour shift in Photo Booth sized box. My bf and I come to the Grand Central Market every now and then but this was our first time trying this vendor! There was a line which seemed like they were regular customers based on how they spoke and chatted about the cookie flavors. We only picked up some cookies to enjoy but definitely want to try their coffee and pies next time! Great quality cookies, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A bit on the sweeter side for my taste but if you're into the sweet stuff, this spot is for you! My bf got some Reese's and peanut butter ones along with a bourbon pecan choco chip. We also got a butterscotch one that I thought was a bit sweet but the flavor was spot on! The place is busy for sure and doesn't actually have seating or tables but you can find them all over the market! This pie is just not it. For a place famous for its key lime pie, I can almost guarantee people haven't had a genuine key lime pie. The crust is just a mushy mess. It's like someone took brown sugar and just pressed it into the pan. The pie is way too bitter and the weak whipped cream doesn't hold up like a merengue or genuine cream to balance out what a key lime pie should be. Located inside of the Grand Central Market, Fat + Flour is a small dessert shop that has pie, cake, brownies, and cookies. After enjoying some lunch, it was time for dessert and my wife picked this place for the occasion. I didn't need much time to think, so a piece of Chocolate Chess pie and a double chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chess pie was solid, though I'm not really a pie guy. The chocolate was solid, the frosting was solid, and it was overall a decent dessert. The double chocolate cookie was very, very, very good and as chocolatey as a cookie could possibly be. Man do I hate giving low reviews and rarely do I give them, but the customer service here is seriously lacking. Visited on Friday in the afternoon after being invited by Grand Central and there was a single employee working at the time. This employee was not friendly at all and gave attitude from the very beginning of our interaction all the way to the end. Not sure if she was having a bad day? We didn't appreciate the dirty looks or negative remarks she said under her breath, so much so that we actually called her out on it but she was defensive, didn't apologize, and took no accountability. These may be the best cookies I have ever had. I love how the peanut butter cookie has whole peanuts on top. It's is a super unique touch and I love how it adds extra crunch to the cookie. The lemon lavender is also incredible. The lavender is a totally unexpected flavor that really brings out the other flavors in the cookie. But you really can't go wrong with any cookie here. If I happen to be in Grand Central Market, I will often check out Fat + Flour to see what they have on deck. While they may not have as a big of a footprint as their Culver City branch, they offer a good selection of pies. My usual go-to is the key lime pie, and I can always make space for that citrus delight. The graham cracker crust mixed with the tart filling and whipped cream topping remains one of my favorite desserts. What's great about Grand Central Market is that you can find ample seating both indoors and outdoors if you want to eat on site. Fat + Flour didn't have much of a line and service was okay, straightforward and direct with me (which I don't mind) despite other Yelper's experience. I tried the Banana Cream Pie for $9 a slice and enjoyed it. Had fresh bananas in it, didn't taste too artificial and the pastry was thin but with dense crust. Cookies were flat and chewy type, with seemingly no baking powder and probably had a good amount of granulated sugar in it. For $4 a cookie I tried the Chocolate Chip Oatmeal and Lemon Lavender Sugar cookie. Both cookies weren't too overly sweet and the lemon lavender flavors were subtle. Having Fat + Flour walking distance from my office is dangerous! Any time I have a craving for something sweet, Fat + Flour is the answer. Conveniently located in the hustle and bustle of Grand Central Market, there's plenty of restaurant selections. Ambiance is always busy and their stand is small but mighty. Service could be hit or miss, sometimes I'll get a very friendly cashier other times it's apparent they want to be anywhere but there. However, what make me return to Fat + Flour time and time again are their peanut butter cookies and chocolate chess pie. The peanut butter cookie is everything a peanut butter lover like myself desires. It's soft and has a dominant peanut butter flavor. One bite is never enough. Now onto the chocolate chess pie is made with a chocolate crust along with a chocolate cream custard. I enjoy it so much that I always order a pie for Thanksgiving whenever I'm in town. Another place in Grand Central Market that was on my list to try. Like the rest of GCM, the vibe here was lively and energetic. I was told to get pie here, so pie I got. Perhaps I should have ordered the Key Lime Pie instead (which is what they are known for), so maybe next time. I was more in a chocolate mood so opted for the Chocolate Chess Pie. It tasted pretty good but a little too dense IMO. The cream was much needed to balance out the heaviness of the chocolate. After you pass Eggslut you'll find them on the left side of the aisle, next to Shiki. It's a take-away. I tried a slice of their seasonal pie - Sour Cherry. I liked the Demerara and granulated sugar on top of the crust. The cherries were soft but still firm with a light tartness among the sweet jammy filling. It's kind of hard when you're traveling to stop for a slice of pie when there are so many other food options but this was worthwhile. read more
