As another reviewer stated, stay away from the chicken sandwich. It is mostly bread and coleslaw with very little meat with lots of raw jalapenos. However, the fish and chips were good and the Irish Lord was very good. Clean, not super busy. We asked for calamari and they were out, which was unexpected as it was 6pm on a Saturday and they weren't busy. We also asked for the Chicken Pub Pie, which they no longer offer, even though it is listed on the menu online. They do have good beer, and an innovative tap system that fills the pint glass from the bottom. Overall an average experience and I probably won't return. Irish Pub's serve good food, but this restaurant needs to take a lesson on what is good pub food ! they seem to think that "More" is better but its not ! Had the shrimp cocktail which was served in a vast glass crammed with soft bay shrimp with one piece of lettuce on the bottom and a dash of a red sauce on top ! The fish and chips were so overcooked in their batter and the Salad came in a vast bowl of chopped lettuce with a smattering of stuff on top. The "Irish Stew" is to be avoided ! What a shame. This is NOT an Irish pub!!! Vinyl signage says Irish Pub, no restaurant name. Sterile atmosphere with a few football logos on walls. Absolutely no music. Food is served in plastic baskets with paper liner. I ordered a beef sandwich, carmelized onions and cheese. Beef was Arby's fast food quality and came with tons of peppers which I didn't order. Also ordered a shrimp cocktail. This consisted of canned mini shrimps, something you might use in dips. Fish and chips ordered by my wife were greasy and un-appetizing. The only similarity to an Irish pub is Guineas beer...nothing else! read more

Small place, a bit loud during peak times. Menu needs a good $7 burger with fries. I had the pastrami sandwich...rather tasteless. My companion had the Rueben, which looked better and came with some fries. Lunch prices are high...minimum $9 for a sandwich. I'd go back to Superfly (the other town restaurant owned by the same family), but not here, at least not for the food. We joined some friends for a casual dinner at this new restaurant. I had the Reuben's but without bread! It was amazing - usually when you order a sandwich without bread (which I can't eat) you get lettuce or something with flour. Instead I received a rather large bowl of beautiful Reuben's with enough fabulous food that I was glad they didn't put lettuce in it! My husband and friend had the hot pastrami and they were both smiling after completely finishing their dishes. Our other friend had the Irish Stew and he really enjoyed that dish! The prices were good, service was excellent and we'll be back. The other thing I noticed was the sign on the entrance that says they welcome children. I know pubs in Australia are family-friendly so this was nice to know for the next time! read more

wow...we loved our dinner here. we were surprised at the decor or lack of pub-feel decor. but it was all good. knowing it's connection to superfly, it was a lot like walking into superfly. the server was good - friendly and attentive. and the food...my ruben was AWEsome! so much pastrami and both sides of the toast had cheese. a definite plus. my coleslaw (instead of potatoes) was delicious - one of the best slaws i've had in a long long time. the glass of guiness was perfectly cooled ;). hubby's beef dunker, he said was 'good.' 'good' for him would be 'exceptional' for me, so i know he reallly liked it. our friend's fish and chips, he said were excellent, as were the potatoes. all in all, a great meal. we'll be back, hubby wants to try the fish and chips and me, well i spotted several items on the menu i want to try. read more

Found this place down near the Harbor. The service was fast and friendly and the food was very good. We had the Calamari, which was excellent, a small cup of their clam chowder, just to try it, it was very good, and we shared the "Dublin Dunker" sandwich with pastrami, which was very good and large enough for two people to share. Fun, noisy and a bit rude. I was with a group and they left but my food came late and it wasn't what I ask for but it tasted good, clam chowder- best from Border to Gold Beach so far, but while eating they needed my table to please move and they pointed to a table right in front of the kitchen! Gross and noisy. I've been a waitress throughout my life and if we had to do that we gave them a minute to gather up but also asked them very nicely with genuine apologies for the intrusion and inconvenience. Wow! I asked if He was from here and He said no from mainland I think just checking out various cities. He was leaving in the next day or two to go to San Diego. Looking forward to seeing girls and having things to do. Well He is college age. There isn't any entertaining extra things to do here. It mostly 45 and up. I've eaten here many times but not for awhile. The food is ok and seemed to be better when they first opened up. Saw they had a happy hour and went by today. Even though there were 2 waitresses and maybe 15 people it took way too long. I was at the bar and after 10 minutes or so the waitress waited on the person close to me that had been there about 2 minutes that she seemed to know and finally asked me if I would like something. Went in for dinner. Not very crowded so service was good. Ordered the fish and chips. The fish was fresh and hot and very good. Not overwhelmingly battered. The chips were another matter. They were under the fish so they should have been kept hot but they were barely warm. Maybe room temp. I think they were left over from lunch and were soggy also. We had heard good things about this place and they were right! We had a late lunch/early dinner on a week day and actually returned a few days later. The first visit I had their Reuben my husband had clams and we shared the spinach artichoke dip. It was happy hour 2-4 so some of the appetizers and beers were a special price. My sandwich was huge,lots of delicious roasted corned beef, kraut and great spread, still yummy heated up the next day, and though the "old" tortilla chips weren't very good the dip was great leftover too. They have puffy little wedge fries that are fun, need a unique dip for me. The next visit we had cod fish and chips and a half roast beef sandwich toasted with roasted red peppers Caramelized onion with au jus. The room has a big bar in the center with tables on the sides and outdoor seating. It's very casual, several guy's having a beer after work. I have been to Fat Irish several times since they opened. On June 2nd we were disappointed by the service and food presentation. Thw bartender made an off hand comment about the paper looking wrapper piece in my shrimp cocktail when we voiced a concern. Not offering anything to make us comfortable with eating it. They ran out of the mix (Ginger Beer) for my drink and it took 20 minutes for one of the staff to come out and tell us. I think we will look for another local establishment to frequent. read more

Went here with a party of 8, I know that's a lot of people but it's a small place. First thing that went wrong, we waited for over an hour to be seated because they refused to push two tables together when we were the only people waiting for a seat. Second, my husband and I went to the bar while waiting for our table and got ignored by both bartenders!! I know we look young but we sat at the bar for a reason so obviously I want a drink! I finally asked the bartender if he has margarita, he said yes I do and walked away!! So I said ok well can I get one and he looked at me like I was crazy! After all that we were finally seated at a table. We ordered 3 orders of the garlic bread and 5 minutes later they explained how they were out of garlic bread. Ok bummer im really upset because we waited so long but shot happens. Then I asked for another margarita and they told me they don't serve those here!! I told her I just had one and this is the empty glass and she continued to say that they can't make me a margarita!!! On top of that 4 out of the 8 people didn't enjoy their dinner at all!
