I decided to ask Facebook for a tasty restaurant open in the wee hours of the night. To my surprise, a friend recommended Fat Jack's and told me the drive thru stays open until 2am. I put the pedal to the metal and pulled up about 1:45am. Boy was I pleasantly surprised that they were open, moderately priced and very customer friendly. Total disappointment. We ordered the 12 piece wings and fries to go. My 9 & 11yr old boys said it tasted funny. My wife didn't like it either. I decided to try the chicken. Do you like fried food? I like fried food, so I like Fat Jack's. Tried them via doordash for lunch today. Sampled the jumbo shrimp, the fish, and the chicken wings. Their breading is more flavorful than most, which is welcome since I've eaten from a lot of similar places around town that were lacking for flavor or too dry, which Fat Jack's fried foods are also not too dry. Frying is done correctly and moisture is locked in, especially the wings which, while not the meastiest I've ever had, were moist and delicious. Jumbo shrimp here are very much jumbo, also to an extent you won't find at many similar joints. The fish was seasoned well also and very good. My daughter also got a fish sandwich kids meal which was a good value - the sandwich had some lettuce and cheese on it in addition to the choice of catfish or whiting which will of course be fried. As far as sides go, I tried the mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and the fries that came on the side, and they were all pretty good. The mac and cheese was a bit on the light/watery side compared to what I generally prefer which is thicker. After placing my order, a young lady called me from the restaurant to confirm what type of fish I wanted on my daughter's fish sandwich kids meals. She was very nice, so while I haven't been in here yet in person, I'd say it's fair to say that the service is probably very good just based on interacting with her on the phone. read more

I had the shrimp and fish dinner but added two pieces of lemon pepper chicken, they messed around and gave me three!!! The shrimp were plump and juicy, but most importantly deveined. I think the fries were hand cut and they were crispy all the way to the house, it's only like five minutes tho‍. The chicken was cooked all the way to the bone which I friggin LOVE. First off, let me just say that this place is super friendly and welcoming! It seemed like even when they spoke to each other, it was respectful. Every Wednesday is $1 wings all day. I had the two fish and two wings combo. It came with fries. All combos also come with a drink. It tasted okay. I would get it again. I also ordered a half pint of mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and greens and cabbage. I enjoyed the sweet potatoes. Everything else was okay. I felt the sides were a good price! At other places the they charge twice as much or more for those sides and sizes. My only real complaint is that it can sometimes be hard to get out of the parking lot depending on which way you're trying to go. read more

We tried this restaurant because of Black Restaurant Week and were very disappointed. They did not have one of the menu items listed, and they messed up our orders. My husband ordered fish and shrimp with coleslaw and got wings and fish with fries. I had to ask several times about my order and show my receipt and our friend's receipt to convince them they had not already filled my order. The building was dilapidated and the floor was sticky. The AC was not working, and the loud fan did not provide much cooling. A staff member was busy swatting flies and wasps while we waited for our food. All that said, the food itself was not bad, and the shrimp, when they finally arrived, were huge. If you go, definitely get your food to go! read more

Patrick and I were doing postmates and someone placed an order from here and it smelled delicious so we decided we would try this place in our free time. The nice thing about this place is that they're open late. I mean late late. On Saturdays they're open until 2am. There's not many places you can go and get fried chicken that late. I was sad because I wanted some sweet potatoes, but by the time I arrived, the sides were all sold out. Overall, the food was hella good. I called in an order around 4:00 p.m. and was told it would be ready by 5:30pm. That was fine. I arrived at 5:20 pm and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I was fine with that since I was early. I paid for the food and included a15% tip. I sat down and waited on the food. My food did not come out for another 40 minutes. My husband was with me and was very upset. If we had known it was going to take that long, we never would have ordered the food, not to mention, paid in advance. Took away a star because our food took nearly 25mins to prepare. That is simply unacceptable. However when we finally got it, it was good. Pretty standard fried chicken and fish. I've driven past this place a gazillion times and noticed it seemed to generate decent traffic. Stopped in tonight to sample their wares. Very small inside with seating for maybe 20 or so. Clean enough for a roadside restaurant. Ordered the #19 (2 catfish filets and 2 chicken wings) and a la carte sides of Mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, and a greens/cabbage combo to go. All meals come with fries. The service at the counter was super friendly! I didn't mind the wait (the drive-thru stayed fairly busy and call-in orders were booming) which was what I would have expected on a Friday night. I wasn't especially thrilled that my order didn't surface all at once, thus rendering my fries cold by the time I got out to my car. They were edible once gently warmed at home, but I'm sure would've been much better (and crispier) if still hot out of the vat. The mac & cheese is pretty good (I dropped a handful of grated cheese before warming in the microwave to make it cheesier), the cabbage/greens were tasty. The sweet potatoes weren't my favorite...kinda bland. The chicken wings were not really well seasoned, but they were fried to perfection! The catfish filets? FIRE!!!!!!!!!! Absolute FIRE!!!! I think they were possibly the best I've ever eaten out. If you have a hankering for fried catfish, Fat Jack's is A-1 on my list!!! The fries were cooked in old grease. There's only specials on Mon, Wed and Friday's, this is during black restaurant week. I will not be back!
