Yummmmmmmm

I love places like this. You can feel the heart in it the second you walk in. The food was so delicious. Everything tasted homemade and comforting, like the kind of meal that's been passed down and perfected over time. The plates are generous and full of flavor. We even ended up buying a jar of their salsa and jalapeños to take home because it was that good. What really made this visit special though was the people. The owner's grandson was so sweet and helpful, and getting to meet the owner and his family made it feel more like being welcomed in than just dining out. This is the kind of place you remember, not just for the food but for how it makes you feel. The vibe is everything!

The Mexican flag plate. Yum!!

The best Mexican food I've had in years! The flavors were perfect. The fresh tortilla chips and guacamole were tasty. The Mexican flag plates was delicious. Service made me feel welcomed and well taken care of. Lou clearly loves to feed you good food. I'll be back soon!

Love the owner Lou he welcomed us in with open arms! Food was amazing all made fresh daily. They also offer a nice selection of homemade salsa and honey to take home. Very clean we will be back again for sure next time we pass through!!

Ask about the chili oil -- tip appropriately. He puts in the work and you can tell. Whoever this dude is really knows his stuff

Chili relleno and chili verde

Incredible meal at Fat Lou's. We were drawn in by the chili verde and ended up getting the half/half plate. Chili verde and chili relleno combo with rice, beans, and home made corn tortillas. I feel like a measure of good Mexican food is the rice and beans, and honestly the rice is the best I've had in a long time. We will return for the bbq as it smelt amazing. Great indoor and outdoor seating options with a view of the river. The staff is so kind. Do yourself a favor and grab a modelo from the fridge, place your order, enjoy the view, and get ready to unbutton your jeans because this meal will have keep you coming back for more!

New spot with great taste in beer choices

Sort of randomly drove upon this location, as had intended to originally visit another place instead. BUT glad that we did end up here. This is for sure a true family owned vibe location. Very friendly, inviting and comforting in our experience. We were however the only guests of 4 doing this visit on a Saturday mid to late afternoon. Their menus are fun as they are actual photos of their meals as cooked. Very helpful for visual people if not familiar with certain dishes. Even though it was lunch time, I felt special as I was able to order chilaquiles even though past the time. Was a delicious meal with added hot salsa on the side. It was fun to have out meals and watch the Mexico/USA soccer game on the tv as well. This location also has a BBQ spot right next door which is a Saturday n Sunday only run establishment. Another fun part was that it was the owners (wife) birthday this day. Wished her a happy one! After our meal we made sure to inform that we would be returning one day soon. If ever across the bridge on their neck of the woods. Be sure to stop in a pay them a friendly visit as you will get the same friendliness in return.

Green tamales, refried beans, rice

If you find yourself in Walnut Grove, stop here! Lou was there and served us personally. The green pork tamales are some of the best I've had anywhere. Worth the stop and the money!

Walking into the bar and grill, you can see the many dollars tacked onto the ceiling and the nostalgic background behind the bar of days gone by, which usually plays host to local farmers, boaters, and tourists in the area. My sister and I decided to take a scenic drive along the Sacramento River and recalled our dad's stories of hanging out at Al's after a day of fishing the river and how the place really "hit the spot!" We pulled up and parked on the narrow little street and walked into this well-known place with the smell of garlic French bread wafting into the air and locals sitting at the bar. We were taken into a small back dining area and given the menu. I ordered the infamous steak sandwich, while my sister ordered the Al's burger, and my husband ordered the fish tacos. The plates were quickly brought out to us and were very generous portions. The steak sandwich was so tasty and big, I was only able to eat about a fourth of it along with the delicious onion rings that came with it. My husband demolished the 3 fish tacos and french fries, and my sister managed to eat about half of her burger. We will definitely be back.

The service was amazing, friendly and just what you would expect from a nice hometown place where the locals meet. Warm and welcoming and great hospitality! The ambiance was your local diner style place serving good food. As for the food it was good. The ham and eggs were perfectly cooked and just right. The pancakes were good. I was torn between the French toast and pancakes but when I visit gain will probably go with the French toast. The pancakes were a bit thin for my liking but had good flavor just me being picky as I like pancakes a little more fluffy. Will certainly be back and try something different but a really good place to visit

Trusting in Yelp reviews, we headed to Lodi's highly rated and popular Avenue Grill. Service was wonderful. Our server (blond lady with glasses) was friendly and chipper and had a very nice demeanor. She was on top of everything. Food came out quickly too. Seemed like the rest of the customers there were local regulars, who knew one another. Cozy, family-friendly vibez. I got the chicken fried steak with crispy potatoes. Good country gravy, seasoned potatoes, and chicken fried steak was delicious. Big portion, enough for leftovers. My husband got the steak & eggs. The steak was a little too dry and under seasoned to my husband's liking. He always orders medium-well, but it was more well. I did agree that it didn't have much flavor. But I had it the next day for leftovers and thought it was good mixed with my gravy and potatoes. So if you're looking for a good traditional breakfast diner, this is probably your spot. I don't think it was worth a drive from Sac, just because there are a lot of similar restaurants, but if you are already in the Lodi area, definitely worth a visit.

Today was an Orozco day!!! I wanted to try new menu items. I ordered Carne Asada Burrito, Pollo Sope, and Puerco Tamale. As I placed to bag of to go items on the seat next to me I could smell grill onions, grilled meat, and beans. The aroma coming from the bag smelled wonderful!!!! I made myself a sample platter of Pollo Sope, Puerco Tamale, and Carne Asada Burrito. Pollo Sope: Seasoned to perfection grilled chicken, whole pinto beans, lettuce, crema, on a crispy corn tortilla base. This was delicious!!! Puerco Tamale: Shredded pork cooked in a red chili sauce. Not spicy. Seasoned just right. The outside (Masa) was light, there was definitely plenty of meat in this tamale!!!!!! Carne Asada Burrito: Grilled beef, pinto beans, rice, sour cream, salsa. This burrito is huge filled with all delicious foods!!! This is my new favorite burrito!!!! I love that they give grilled onions, jalapeño, radish, lemon, and salsas!!! It adds to the meal!!!! I highly recommend Orozco's!!!!! Give them a try!!!!!!
