Decided on pizza last night and immediately thought about Fat Mikes because I recently got a meatball sub and it was unreal delicious so I ordered a large combo. The young lady who answered the phone was very helpful and was a joy to order from. I got there 20 minutes later just as my pizza was coming out of the oven. Place it very nice and clean! I cant say that about other Elk Grove pizzeria. Got home and the wife and I enjoyed that pizza so much we will probably make it a regular thing. Fat Mike's continues to be excellent! They've been in business 34 years - pretty amazing. We had gluten free crust medium, all the veggies, red sauce, no cheese. It is delicious! I like the thin crunchy crust. Very tasty overall. The people are super too. Highly recommended! read more

This place is a gem!!! We were greeted right away & service was excellent. It was our 1st time here & I loved the atmosphere!!! Clean & minimal. Has an old time feel, but sparkly @ the same time. The menu has other things than pizza, but we were here 2 try the pizza. They have a list of different pizzas & we decided on the Italian Pesto. It was pesto sauce w/ pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, & olives (it was supposed 2 have green onions, but I don't do onions)=delish!!! Great spot that I found on yelp and noticed that a lot of elite members favored this pizzeria. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the specialty pizzas had amazing flavors. I ordered got to us in reasonable time considering it was entering dinner time. The environment totally feels like a pizza restaurant with arcades, TVs with sporting events and memorabilia all over the restaurant. I will definitely recommend this place. My husband and I drove by this place multiple times and we finally decided to stop and try it. It's super cute. Located right next to a diner. Upon entering the parking lot Fat Mike's definitely gives off a diner vibe also which I thought was sooo cool. They have 2 dinning room and an arcade room. The first is the entrance which has a diner feel to it. The next room was more restaurant/family style seating room. The third room was the arcade room. We got there during lunch time so we decided to get their lunch specials. My husband got a personal pizza and I got a salad and some wings for myself. The pizza was very good. Crust was not too soft and not too hard. Salad and wings were okay. Will be back to try more of their pizzas. read more

I found Fat Mike"s on a Reddit post about the best pizza's in Elk Grove. As it turned out Fat Mikes's was like number 2 or 3 on most of the lists and it was the closest to me so I thought I'd try it. While I am not a pizza -phile by any stretch of the imagination, my significant other was off on a girls weekend so here goes nothing. It was a bit farther than I thought, so when I got there I ordered a pizza the size of a wagon wheel for yours truly. (I got the 16' Garlic chicken) There was a bit of a wait but I finally got my prize and tucked my giant pizza in the car and drove back to the scene of the crime. In rapt anticipation I grabbed 2 slices and gobbled them down. Dear reader I apologize for all the preface, but the final conclusion is that it was just ok. She loved this place and have supported this small family business and have spent $$$$ here for many many years. While the west side of Elk Grove grows more and more chaotic by the day, the east side remains pretty quiet. In this particular part of the city there lies a pizza spot with a blast-from-the-past, diner-esque interior. The Maui wowie pizza pretty much tasted slightly above average; a little tastier than pizza from a pizza chain though could've had a larger portion of toppings. My family decided to try out Fat Mikes. As it's been around for a very long time. We ordered two pizzas, a big salad, and we dined in. The pizzas didn't have enough sauce and the sauce they did had was bland. Very disappointing. It was not delicious pizza whatsoever. The antipasti salad was good with lots of toppings. I was disappointed to find out, after we paid, that they were running a special for a family pizza and family salad that, if they had told us, would have saved us money, as we ordered the sane things in the special but we paid full price. When we've dined in or picked up the pizza, the employees were always so friendly and personable. It definitely feels like a local family business in a good way. There is plenty of seating for dining in, and they have arcade games inside too. Whenever we got an estimated wait time for delivery, the pizza was always delivered on time or sooner. I've had the Mike's Top 10 Combination, Barbecue Chicken, Pesto Italian, and pepperoni pizza here. All of them were good, but Mike's Top 10 was definitely my favorite and our go-to flavor of pizza to order. I've also had the garlic breadsticks and garlic breadsticks with cheese (highly recommend). Fat Mike's pizza is a little more expensive than others, but it's totally worth it in my opinion! The quality is there. They have coupons on their website, so check those out too! Amazing pizza, and the staff provided great customer service. It's pretty far down a busy road so we dined in. Lots of families seem to love this place. There's a mini arcade in the back of the restaurant. Small front lobby area to order your pizza but there are tables in the back and on the outside of the business. I'm not sure if this pizza spot has changed their hours, or if I have been by on an off day, but since we moved to Elk Grove 11 years ago I have tried several times to check them out only to find them closed. Well, I guess the stars aligned properly for me because my wife and I saw that they were open and decided to have lunch and check out their pie. The atmosphere is somewhat of a 50's vibe and at first it doesn't look that big from the outside. We went in and were greeted by Kiley (?) who offered us some suggestions of what to order, which was helpful since the menu is extensive. It was no easy decision, and our choice of the Garlic Chicken was definitely a winner As we were filling our glasses from the drink fountain, we had an opportunity to speak to (not so) Fat Mike - but hey, who's going to buy Skinny Mike's pizza, right?!!? Even though Mike was working on repairs to one of his ovens, he took a few minutes to welcome us in and was warm and engaging. Back to the pizza - it was topped with fresh ingredients, nice sized chunks of chicken, and had a well done buttery crust which held up to the toppings. I won't get into the details, however, we got a glimpse of Mike's involvement and love of his community which makes us want to come back for more!!! We were looking for a new pizza place tonight. Came across Fat Mike's here on Yelp, the pictures all looked delicious, and we decided to give it a try. We ordered a sausage mushroom olive and a pepperoni sausage. We also got pesto chips. The ingredients on the pizzas all tasted very fresh, and there was a ton of toppings on both. Not too much, just the right amount. The sausage was excellent with no grease. The only problem, and the reason for only four stars, is they were both very salty. I thought at first that it was just the sausage, but it was the crust or the pizza sauce on the crust. It would've been the perfect pizza without that. The pesto chips are basically a pizza crust with only pesto on top and cut into strips. This was very good. We'd definitely go back. Fat Mikes got very good reviews, so maybe it's not usually this salty. I'll definitely update to 5-stars if that's the case. read more

We initially called in a delivery order but unfortunately we called a but late and they stop delivering at 8:30pm. We didn't live too far from the restaurant so we were happy to place a pick up order instead which was quick and ready in 25 minutes. We ordered a 20" half vegetarian and half pesto garden style. Both were good and incredibly cheesy but we wished the pizza was more flavorful. Loved how much toppings there were but the artichokes were bit tough. 20" is pretty large and can probably feed 6-8 people! I met the owner on my first ever visit, and was very impressed with the entire staff at Fat Mike's. Everyone was extremely friendly, and there was definitely a welcoming vibe. My take out order came out promptly, and was on my way. The pizza was some of the best that I've had in California. Good crust, and cheese to sauce ratio was very consistent. While it was the best I've had out here, it still does not quite have the taste of East Coast Pizza. New York, Jersey, and Philadelphia still have the edge for sure.
