    Mac Masala Twist with Chicken
    Sasha J.

We Ordered the "one for you, one for the kids" deal which comes with one specialty pizza and one 2 topping pizza. We chose the butter chicken pizza for the specialty pizza and a white sauce Canadian bacon with garlic chicken pizza for the other one. Both on original crust. And then we added on a Tikka masala Mac and cheese to try. Pizzas were great. I only wish there was a sweet sauce to top off the butter chicken pizza. like a drizzle of sweet chili sauce or a drizzle of the sweet/spicy sauce that sometimes comes with samosas. The crust was perfect to me and the amount of toppings was good. I would not order the Mac and cheese again. Honestly it was Kraft Mac and cheese with chicken, cilantro, ginger, and onions. I was disappointed because in my brain I imagined a cheesy tikka masala sauce essentially got Kraft. I'm not a picky person but I could not eat that. BUT - I hope that doesn't deter anyone from ordering other food from here. I will order the pizza again, even the 2 topping pizza was great. This was ordered through YELP and they delivered. Delivery was timely and everything was still hot.

Pizza here is very different from what you'd expect and in the best possible way. The flavor is amazing. I love that they have vegan options and they don't skimp on toppings. We had a vegan butter chickn with cilantro and some other added toppings and an order of vegan garlic cheese bread sticks. We loved everything and are glad we decided to stop here during our road trip!

It's pizza but with a twist of either Mediterranean or Indian flavors. If you like one of those or both you are in for a treat! Or if you like pizza in general they have some other great flavors. I wasn't too hungry but we ordered one of the combination pizzas. There were a lot of toppings and the crust was just right, not too doughy and not too crunchy. They do offer dine in but it looked like there were only 2 tables available inside. If I come again in the future I'm coming on an empty stomach and will order some Indian pizza.

What could be better than having your TWO favorite things ever combined into ONE?? Chicken Tikka Masala PIZZA? Yummmmm! We've ordered a few times but this last time we asked for extra sauce & it was phenomenal. Full of flavor & deliciousness! The staff is super friendly & food is always prompt!

We ordered pizza tonight through DoorDash and it arrived in under 30 minutes! They have all of your traditional pizzas but you gotta come here for their specialty pizzas. We ordered a large Butter Chicken pizza, because c'mon, where have you even seen this creation before?! It arrived nice and hot, and smelled amazing. All of the colors made this pizza stand out! It tasted delicious, but I'd probably ask for no tomatoes next time. It overpowers the butter chicken flavor too much. The actual dough/crust is really fluffy though and I ate every last bite, even though normally I don't like the crust! I hope to come back and try other specialty pizzas sans tomatoes, perhaps I'll go with the chicken tikka masala one next time!

What a great alternative to enjoy Indian flavors! During quarantine, we ordered Indian pizza takeout here at this shop. We had two types of pizza. The butter chicken pizza was great. The flavors are all there. There is a hint of creaminess and Indian spices. All that flavors and chicken on top of a pizza dough. The Tiki Marsala veggie pizza was also tasty. The smell of roasted veggies was very appealing. The pizza was excellent with all the roasted veggies. The only recommendation is the pizza dough was a little thicker. Overall, I would order here again.

One of our most favorite pizza's! The crust is excellent and we enjoy every bite. So much flavor and fun to switch between all the different twisted Indian options. It can get very spicy so we tend to order a mild option. Excellent service too.

When you can't decide if you want pizza or Indian food, stop by Chicago Pizza with a twist and you can get both :D  My cousins and I decided that we should go for a Picnic party at the park(since the weather was so good over the weekend) and someone suggested we should get pizza and we stumbled upon this amazing place! Our order was take-out, it took them about 20 mins to process my order. The pizzas were hot, the toppings were fresh, they gave enough cheese and pepper sachets, the portion size is great too. I had ordered three large pizzas and it worked out great for 12 people. The spices were perfectly balanced, the pizzas did not taste bland or too spicy (they usually ask you how spicy you want them to be).   We tried three of their pizzas, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken pizza and paneer tikka masala pizza and trust me they had such spectacular flavors to them. Surprisingly, the Paneer Tikka Masala stood out to be the best! The paneer was soft and firm, the sauce on the base was amazing, it was thick enough and really flavorful. It is a crazy blend of pizza and paneer. The butter chicken pizza was amazing as well, all right flavors, not too spicy and not too sweet (which sometimes happens with butter chicken), perfect amount of herbs used, overall great in taste! The Chicken Tikka Masala is where I would say it was a 4/5. The pizza felt it was too garlicy and lacked the true flavor of CTM.  But 5/5 to this place because creativity and Pizzaaaaa ;)

My boys were in the mood for pizza yesterday, so we decided to go here after several other locations seemed to be closed when they're hours said they were open. We went inside and it was slow day, there was only a couple in the booth area besides us. Since my youngest is picky with pizza toppings, I knew we were already getting pepperoni. We decided on getting a Large and the guy at the counter let us know that they had a take out deal, 1 large pizza for $6, and you could still eat it there. A large pizza for only $6? How can you beat that? We also wanted to get a couple of drinks, and they have a Yelp deal where you spend $10 and get a free small drink...but our large pizza and 3 small drinks didn't even coming to 10! I don't eat pizza every often, but I had already decided that this place would be one of our new pizza spots...that is until we got the pizza. The pizza itself wasn't bad, my kids liked it, and for me it was ok. The issue I had with it, was the pepperoni....where was it? It was like Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego, or like trying to find Waldo. When I first opened the box I thought they had given me a cheese pizza, then I realized that the pepperoni was UNDER the cheese. A little weird as I've never seen a pizza made that way before, ok not a big deal. But I started looking for the pepperoni after that, and I don't think any of the slices of pizza had more then 1 slice of pepperoni each. So that was pretty disappointing. I get the pizza was cheap, but that was the "deal" they were promoting. I don't think that deal should have to mean going cheap on the topping(s) as well. OVERALL: Clean and quiet establishment, good current deal on a large pizza to go, disappointing pepperoni pizza. I'd call it a cheese pizza w/pepperoni, since it lacked the pepperoni. Not a bad place, but for me not worth going back even if the pizza was cheap.

Ordered a medium Butter Chicken pizza (half mild half spicy) along with a 6pc order of the Tandoori Chicken wings. Better than I expected. The wings were great, just that right amount of flavor on the skin and juicy in the inside. The pizza was delicious but wouldn't recommend making it "spicy" as it dominates over the cheese and herbs and chicken. Next time I'll try the Palak Paneer pizza because the combination of paneer and spinach is delectable and the excellent Chaat of India has moved to somewhere on Mack road. It would be nice if the paneer/spinach from Chicago's is on par with the excellent execution of Chaat's paneer/spinach.

With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.

The wait couldn't have been longer than two minutes as we were seated inside fairly quickly. My friend recommended the Bocce Balls, and I wanted to go for something on the menu that was marked as a Paesanos's favorite - I choose the Spaghetti Carbonara. I also asked our waiter if he could put my order on a separate tab up front just so it's easier if he needs to make note of the certain items that needed to be put on a separate tab. The bocce balls came out and there were six of them on a platter. I was surprised because I was expecting them to be soft almost like a garlic knot, but they were a little bit more firm, almost like a fried mac n cheese ball (but with dough inside). This was definitely something that we needed to use a knife to cut with and eat. They tasted buttery and garlicky - you really can't go wrong with bread, butter and garlic. It was fantastic. Then my spaghetti carbonara came out about twenty minutes later. This one was also delicious! It was creamy, cheesy, and had chunks of bacon that worked well with the creaminess of the dish. The serving was also huge - I think I only ate about a fourth of it. It came with a side of bread which I took a bite of and thought it tasted a lot like the bocce balls (flavor wise). My bill's subtotal ended up being $26 ($19 for the carbonara, and $7 for the bocce balls). It was nice that our waiter remembered I wanted a separate check. He said he wasn't sure how whose tab to put the bocce balls on so he just split it in half. I found that to be really considerate! I always try to do what I can to make it easier on the wait staff so I would have happily taken the whole charge, but it was nice to see that he was able to split one dish by two checks. Overall, we ended up spending about 2 hours in the restaurant. I went with friends who I haven't seen in years, so we spent plenty of time catching up. At no point did I feel rushed to leave. It was as night filled with great food, great service, and great company. I'm looking forward to coming back here when I'm in town!

The bruschetta was perfectly crisp and the four different flavors made it a really dynamic appetizer. I was partial to the onion jam beautifully roasted and sweet with the right amount of salt. It was quickly packed with happy customers. I'd recommend a reservation. Now the cons... they were out of the octopus appetizer I really wanted. No big deal. They didn't have gnocchi on the menu. I felt I had to really chew to get it down, and I just wanted a nice snappy skin for some textural juxtaposition. For my entree, I got the Bolognese which was definitely full of salt. The pasta was wonderfully thin and bouncy, but I feel the chef may have had an off-day. My friend and I had to down like multiple cups of water with our meal which made it hard to enjoy. Plus, the garlic bread felt like biting into a brick. The inside was quite fluffy and soft, but the crust was simply too crispy. I almost felt like my teeth were going to give way. The inside was modern, clean and upscale looking although I did miss the more homey authentic feel of Espanol. I ordered the Caesar Salad and Lasagna - I ate every last bite of both dishes. The 12 layer lasagna was delicate and light while the Caesar Salad was refreshing and not overly dressed. My coworker got the beet salad and she said it was the best salad she ever had. The bread basket was so good too - seasoned house made breadsticks and foccacia bread slices with whipped butter - chef's kiss! Service was great and our water glasses were never empty! While we passed on dessert, I was very intrigued by the Cappuccino Cheesecake - I will definitely be back for that! I'll be back during dinner time to try more dishes - maybe for a date night with my husband!

The atmosphere leans a little dressier, but we've gone both dressed up for date nights and casually. The menu evolves, which keeps us coming back, but the staples are consistently fantastic. The antipasto, burrata, and pillowy gnocchi are always favorites, and don't even think about skipping the bread basket--the fresh focaccia and breadsticks are reason enough to visit. This has become one of our regular date night spots whenever we're craving Italian. Cozy and welcoming.

Pricing-wise, I'd…read moresay the food is mid-high in tier, but doesn't reach the cost of other such places - which is a great thing as Il Fornaio is a wonderful place to hold a special event or celebration. You'll definitely enjoy the elegant decor and picturesque dining room. As the name suggests, Il Fornaio is an Italian restaurant that serves pasta dishes, salads, soups, and other Italian fare. The food is well presented and and the quality is certainly there. It didn't disappoint, but I personally wasn't blown away by it either. It's just very solid you get what you pay for food. Usually that means you buy cheap food and you get cheap tasting stuff, but here you pay a good amount and you get pretty good food. We came on a pretty busy evening and service took a little longer than I expect that it typically would. But overall it wasn't bad... just very busy. I do think that Il Fornaio does get pretty busy regularly because it is a popular restaurant in Sacramento. Just keep that in mind on busy nights like weekends and special dates.

I wasn't expecting good Italian food in Sacramento, so when a colleague suggested this place for…read moredinner, I agreed. Im also not much an Italian food fan really. Crazy I say this as I was in a serious relationship once with an Italian lol. I know I sound like a miserable wretched human being, but its quite ubiquitous and a lot of it is not too hard to make. But I do like a good pizza and there are Italian dishes I like (ones I cannot make like Sardinian wild boar or squid ink pasta). First, this dining room is gorgeous, the bar space is really nice. Saw a handsome gent in a nice suit sitting at the bar, which was a nice accessory to an already elegant and dare I say sexy bar? I had a drink here and then our party moved to a table when everyone arrived. My colleague did us the favor and ordered some antipasti dishes for us and made good choices. The carpaccio was great (and I loved the grana padano cheese - one that I can have) and also enjoyed the tartara di tonno - which is seared ahi tuna. Both with copious amounts of arugula (my favorite). Great choices as I love raw anything that's well made. Since it was Tuesday, one of my colleagues ordered the pasta trio which is a special for Tuesdays. No idea if it was any good, but colleague cleaned the plate. My other colleague ordered the risotto (which looked great and I love risotto and can make it myself), large portion size and she had a good portion leftover for another meal. I had the branzino in crosta. The portion size for my dish was ridiculous. Fish was decent, but I have had better (in Italy fresh caught). Rooted veggies were probably my favorite (I'm a rabbit and love veggies) and the grilled polenta was so-so. My colleagues ordered panna cotta al limone and it was excellent. I am used to a denser consistency panna cotta and this one was lighter one but well made. I love limoncello or anything with lemons, so this was just lovely. There is only one kind of tiramisu (more pudding style) I like which is made by North Italia and the one here likely was the traditional tiramisu so I declined to get dessert. Overall, a very good choice for a business dinner. Food was good. I deducted one star because I am not much into chain restaurants and prefer to support mom and pop type places. I deducted another star because the service was so SLOW and while we ordered some sparkling for the table, some of us did not get still water and I recall not having much water to drink and its summer. Also, I think the New Yorker in me just doesnt have much patience, but it does seem the cadence here was a different speed I am used to. I'd definitely return to have a few cocktails at the bar, and come back for their HH specials too. This location is in a beautiful setting and I'd come back just to sit at the bar and quietly ogle which cutie might show up...
