We stopped into Fat Olives Restaurant for lunch after fishing one day. I saw the menus online but didn't realize that the menu for lunch was different. We wanted some hearty pasta after a long morning of fishing but the only pasta dish for lunch was Mac N Cheese. We were all a bit disappointed. We started with the Dip Trio. We all loved the Salmon Dip. I was primarily salmon bright and flavorful. The Ricotta dip was bit boring. It was smooth and creamy but not much to it other than that. The Olive Tapenade was my favorite but fair warning of the garlic. It is REALLY garlicky. I ate just about all of it before I realized just how much garlic was in it but it was worth it. I chose the special of Rockfish Tacos. The tacos were good and the side salad was great. My partner got the Calzone and wasn't too fond of it. It had a ton of onions in it and just wasn't that flavorful. Our friend got the Meatball Sub and loved the meatballs but said the bread was a bit too big. Overall, we liked our meals but were all disappointed at the lack of pasta dishes for lunch. read more

So this little "pizza" place ended up serving us the best seafood meal we had in Homer! We love fresh seafood and appreciate every bite when it's cooked right. We started with "The Black Hole Caesar" (extra garlic) to get things kicked off. PC had the Rockfish Special with some curry and I went for the Rockfish Alfredo. Oh, the fish was delicious! Seasoned and cooked perfectly. I couldn't help but notice how amazing the pizza looked at nearby tables. If we weren't such seafood lovers, we would absolutely order their wood fired pizza. We were full, liked our server, and were enjoying our wine so we didn't want to bolt. I couldn't help but notice the pieces of chocolate layer cake being delivered to other tables. So.... we ordered a piece along with the Blueberry Cheesecake. To my surprise, the cheesecake was the superior dessert. The cake's crumb was a bit dry but the flavor was okay. But the cheesecake! It wasn't too sweet. It was rich, creamy and smooth with a lovely blueberry puree mixed throughout the cake. I respect that as it would have been a lot easier to just do a blueberry compote topping and call it good, but they didn't. Finally, our server, Angie F., did a great job for us. She answered our questions, listened, and then made spot-on suggestions. Most impressive of all, she served all nine tables in the little dining room where we were seated by herself with occasional support from others filling water glasses. Yet she kept everyone happy. Our entrees were mid-30's and worth every penny. Fresh, delicious seafood isn't cheap and shouldn't be. There is too much care and expertise needed from the time the fish is caught to when it is served as a fantastic meal to guests. If you read any of my other reviews, you know that I'm not a frequent 2-star giver but the combination of less than mediocre service and undercooked pizza just couldn't merit more than that. We camp in Homer at the Driftwood RV park annually, as I love staying so close to wonderful spots like Fat Olive's and AJ's Steakhouse, not to mention the crepes at Wild Honey. Our first night, we arrived and hoped to snag a pizza at Fat Olive's but despite calling for over 45 minutes, we never could get an answer. No worries, I'm glad they're busy - busy is good for a small business. The next day, I get smart - I order early and online, for a 3 pm pick-up before the dinner rush. Sadly, this did not go as planned. I arrived at the appointed time to pick up one medium pizza, a side of baked mac-n-cheese and a summer salad. Despite having placed the order hours beforehand, it was apparently lost or never received at the kitchen - the wait will be roughly 15 minutes. Okay, no big deal, I can wait for a good meal. At 20 minutes, the host brings me the mac-n-cheese and salad - I ask about the pizza, but they didn't realize a pizza was on the order. That's gonna be another 15 minutes. Okay, at this point I'm frustrated and a bit hangry, but I wait quietly, as being snarky isn't going to make the pizza arrive any faster. At 3:45 pm I finally collect the full order and return to our campsite. Once we're able to dig-in, I'm just so very disappointed - the pizza is undercooked and gooey in the middle, and overall kinda lacking in any flavor. The mac-n-cheese is dry (weird, right?!?) and also really lacking in any flavor, cheese or otherwise. Thankfully, the salad is delightful - fresh crisp romaine, lovely onions and a powerful balsamic dressing with fresh tomatoes. This certainly wasn't the Fat Olive's that I remembered in previous visits to Homer, so hopefully it's a one-off experience. Cheers! read more

I probably would've been just as satisfied with a dominos pizza and store bought dessert. When we first arrived, we were disappointed to find out they weren't serving their dinner menu due to staff shortages (I'd had my eye on the seafood pasta). We ordered a chicken calzone, shrimp and scallops appetizer, tomato Parmesan soup, the white garden pizza and the pecan torte. Worth it: tomato soup, pecan torte, calzone NOT worth it: pizza, shrimp and scallops The shrimp and scallops were small and a measly portion for the price. The pizza was mediocre and a bit lacking on toppings. I was expecting better, since pizza is their specialty. The calzone was pretty tasty, and I would give the torte and soup a 10/10. The torte had a delicious shortbread crust & chocolate on top and came with a caramel sauce to top it off. As another reviewer mentioned, the staff were disorganized. They weren't properly tracking when orders were ready. After waiting for the time they quoted, I went to ask about my takeout order, at which point they tracked down different parts of it scattered across different parts of the kitchen. We like this place! It's our go-to spot in Homer, especially for takeout on the days where we can't decide what to make for dinner. Usually just order pizza and appetizers, to go, with an occasional entree. I love being able to order online, but there are some items on their menu that don't show up in the online order form. I guess that's the price you pay for not having to speak to a human, lol. My only criticism is that our orders usually aren't complete when we show up at the designated time and sometimes that's hard to take when you're hangry. But hey, that just means our food is piping hot when we do get it! read more

We went here for lunch today and had a great experience! They had a lot of different options for lunch. We decided to get slices of pizza. They were only $4.50 each. We got 2 pieces of pepperoni and one slice of a veggie pizza. The total bill was only around $14, which is a pretty good price for the size of the slices of pizza. The pizza was delicious! It was also cool to watch the employees hand toss the pizzas and the place had a relaxing ambiance. The staff was really friendly and we really enjoyed our meal. read more

After two weekend trips to Homer and trying many restaurants in the town, this is by far my favorite! We came two weekends in a row with a large party and the staff was very accommodating to us. They always offer pizza by the slice which is a great way to spend less and leave full. The slices are ENORMOUS and delicious! They seem to always offer 3-4 slice options, some simple and some unique. I ordered the house calzone filled with veggies and served with a pesto dipping sauce. For $12, it also comes with a nice side salad. I find this to be an amazing deal. I would order it again and again! read more

The service here was joke this evening. Waited a long time for two pizzas was told that they had a lot of to go orders. So the saps who are actually buying drinks etc are served last. Then a pizza with a black charred crust arrived. No one over 22 years was working, apparently no manager on site. The food we did receive, a second pizza nd salmon cakes were edible at best. Fat Olives had a very nice modern laid back dining room but we were ushered out when we told them it was a to go order. I ordered a pepperoni, sausage, minced garlic pizza also Salmon patties . I seen the large pepperoni but did not see sausage or minced garlic . The pizza's crust is thin, chewy and delicious. The sauce is slightly spicy the way I like it. Salmon patties were good but I felt something was missing. I hope to go back to dine in and get the full experience. Like I said pizza is delicious. read more

Considering all the factors Fat Olives get five stars from me! Great location, lots of parking, and the staff is off the hook AMAZING!! Pizza slices bigger than your head for under 5$ and fast. The salads are always fresh and the soups are delicious. I have not tried any of the other items and I always get my food to go. Can't really go wrong! read more

Have been coming here for about 20 years now. Always good food and prompt service. Have ordered off both the lunch and dinner menus and recommend both. We just had a group of 6 people with very different tastes and everyone enjoyed their orders. We had one issue with a missing small pizza but the staff jumped right on it and got a great pizza out very quickly. I will note the wait staff noted the problem and had it being fixed when they came out to apologize for their mistake. Great service. The food will not disappoint. read more

We went there on a Labor Day Monday expecting some amazing food. The place was bursting with people waiting for their togo orders and to be seated. We decided to order togo since the seating was going to take an hour. We ordered the shrimp and scallops, chicken calzone, pecan torte and a pizza. The shrimp and scallops had 4 shrimp and 4 small scallops, very inadequete when you think from a dish PoV. The chicken calzone was tasty and the pecan torte was also tasty. However the star of the evening, the pizza was horrible. It was just bread and cheese. The restaurant had told us they were running out of stuff, looks like they decided to serve poor quality pies for that reason. Its one of the worst pizzas i have had in my life. Seriously dont understand the other 5 star reviews. The dessert and the calzone got this place 2 stars but the pizza would ensure i dont return to the place again. read more

As I wait, 25 mins longer than promised, I figured I should leave a review. Fat Olives was 45 mins longer the last time I was in Homer. Fool me once - shame on them. Fool me twice - shame on me. I likely won't be returning ever for mediocre pizza. Waiting so long allows me to people watch. I watched the pizza flinger in the back scratch his beard twice while working dough. He didn't wash his hands after. This thought didn't leave my mind was I ate my pizza. Also, one thing I learned is it's quicker to order in person than online. read more

This place has really good amazing food!!! The only reason why it lost a star was because my soup was cold. The server said they never use the microwave so it shouldn't be cold and gave me a new soup per my request. The second time it came out she says it's steaming hot.... Yes there was steam but oddly it was cold again. Weird but it's just science. They probably cook the soup without checking temp. Bowl was probably super cold and soup was probably warm creating the steam making it look hot. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the beef stew because it was not warm. It was more like room temperature which made it feel like I'm eating soup out of a can. Took it home and had to reheat it. Luckily the two other soups that we order was warmer than room temperature. Okay back to the amazing food! Cheese bread was delicious and I recommend it with the basil pesto sauce!!!! Save the pesto sauce for your entree!!! We just ordered few calzones and they were way better than I imagined it would be. I'd order them again. We also got a salmon burger which was fantastic!!! This place is fabulous! Went for a family lunch (on a weekend) and the food was excellent, we had NO Leftovers...that how good the food was! My daughter and I had the calzone which was delicious and she asked if we could order a 3rd one to-go. My boys had pizza and it was gone within minutes. I completely understand that things are a little chaotic in these Covid times. The person doing take out was very busy and had a lot going on, so I do sympathize with that. I ordered the portabella manicotti but when I got back to my place, i think it was the chicken cannelloni. I'm glad I am not vegetarian because there was definitely chicken in it.
