It's been a long time since I've seen you my old friend! As soon as the wife and I walked in, we remember being introduced to this place when some friends said "Hey let's go grab a bite to eat at Fat Patty's!" I have never heard of it but decided to give it a try. That day was delicious and after coming back after 2 years, everything is delicious as it was before. The wife and I had the Pig Skins which is, Potato Skins with pulled pork on top. (Absolutely delicious) Then we ordered the Boneless chicken wings and the Junior Cheese burgers. The Cheese burgers were good and our waitress was friendly and helpful. Our food came out fairly quickly, my tea was good and the food was hot. I hope it's not another 2 years before we come back again but, if so then, we know that we will continue to have the same experience like we did on day 1. Homey place with a dive bar feel. Everything was very reasonably priced, including drinks from the bar. I hear they have great burgers, but i decided to get the chicken philly and it was delicious! Apparently they do not use the open table feature that is provided. So don't reserve a table thinking you're okay. Had a table reserved for 9pm. Showed up and was told "oh... we don't use that any more. " so no food for us. read more

The place is known for burgers, so that's the first part of my review. I understand different places have different policies on cooking burgers, but it's tough to earn 5 stars if the meat has to be well done. Beyond that, the patty didn't seem like the advertised 8 oz. (obviously pre-cooked weight, I get it), and toppings were adequate but not generous. I took the upcharge for fries (chips are useless to me) and those were fine. Someone else got onion rings, and they were pretty good, but not my type (too much batter). The waiter got pretty much everything right on our large group order, to his credit, and was very attentive. I feel like I've given a 4-star review for a 3-star place. Spying on everyone's food, I just wasn't impressed with the offerings. If I ate at more Ashland places and couldn't find anything better, the fourth star might be forthcoming, but right now I'm still motivated to try elsewhere. read more

I have been to Fat Patty's twice now...once for lunch and one time for dinner. They seem to be crowded always which is a great sign. I had the philly quesadilla and french onion soup. The philly quesadilla was tasty, but a little bit of the meat was frozen. I didn't complain because I knew I wouldn't eat it all anyway and I'd just keep that piece for my to go portion that would be nuked later anyway. Food was a 5, service was a 1. We stopped in here before going to the mall. This is a locally owned restaurant and they have four locations. It's bar food, variety of appetizers and burgers and wings seem to be the most popular items. We ordered the cheese sticks and poppers. Poppers were jalapeño peppers deep fried and stuffed with cheese. They served it with a raspberry sauce, it's a great pair! Three from of our party ordered burgers, surprised they did not ask how they wanted it cooked, temperature wise. I ordered the pork nachos appetizer. The burgers were good, fries were loaded with cheese and bacon and nachos were just ok. Service was not great, seemed she was taking care of too many tables. We received our plates after we finished our appetizers, we had to ask for silverware and the ones she gave us were opened and were concerned they weren't clean. It took forever to also get our check, it seems super long when you are ready to leave and the waitress visits other tables after you asked for check. TJ seemed to have too many tables to service at the same time, that we seemed to be forgotten at times. We were holding up our card to pay when she brought the check and still we waited again for her to return just so we could pay. Super frustrating. read more

Visited fat patty's at lunch time during the week. They were pretty busy but we were seated fast. The menu had a wide variety of pub type dishes. I got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries. I was really impressed with the fries. They were cooked to perfection and the sandwich was great as well. Sometimes the bread tends to get soggy on a PCS but the bread was good. It was really cheesy and the steak wasn't chewy. It was overall very good. The service was also great. Our waitress was very busy and also managed to make sure we had everything we needed before I could think to even ask for it. Great atmosphere! Very disappointing today. Left the Mothman festival and came up to Ashland just to get some fat patty's. There was a festival going on outside but wasn't really busy on the inside around 2:30. There was a large party of about 12 people beside us but that happens and we expected there would be a little wait for food but not too long. I ordered the chicken tender basket, my wife ordered the Luau cow burger and brother in law ordered grilled chicken breast. Our sever was really nice and kept checking on us but there was something going on behind the scenes. We heard some workers getting angry and some looked very flustered. We ended up waiting 2 hours for our food. My chicken tenders were so cooked up they were rubber on the inside. The fries were fine. My wife's burger was okay and the grilled chicken looked like it was just plopped on a grill and not even seasoned. We didn't even finish all of our food because we weren't too hungry anymore and the food was not appetizing. We ordered pretty simple things that don't take too long to make. We could just left and ordered something at a vendor for the same 50$ price and get it within minutes. It was very disappointing and I'm not sure if we will even go back. One bad day can really ruin your whole experience at a place. Hopefully they fix whatever issue was going on for future customers. read more

I have to say we are all over the place on how we liked FP's, so this review is by person: Hubs had the Lava Burger and was very pleased. Nice levels and textures of heat. Nothing that sets the place on fire, he enjoyed it alot. I had a crock of French Onion. It was cold. so cold that the overlap of two pieces of cheese were actually cold. And they soup itself was lukewarm. I also had the Wedge. One of my favorites, until the bacon is nuked beyond repair. Friend 1# had a cool cup of French Onion and a Reuben (No pickle please!) She got a Reuben with a lot of pickle juice soaked in, but the pickle removed. Friend 2# had a burger and was happy. The onion rings and potato skins were fabulous. It was not crowded at all, but appetizers + everything came out pretty much all at once. And the servers just stood there holding our food while we scrambled to figure out how to manage the volume of plates all at once on our table. No pictures, way too dark. And take your jacket, because it's not summer in there. The sweet tea was amazing. So there's that. read more

The bartending staff was great but on a recent trip we ordered take out and the order took over 90 minutes for a few burgers and some kids sandwiches. Food came out ice cold as I imagine the kitchen staff sat on it as they have no idea what they are doing. No management in sight as I imagine they cut out early. This is by far one of my favorites in Ashland. Originally coming out of WV, when they decided to give Ashland a try.. it was a major success. Close by the Paramount and not far from the Town Center and Cinemas, this location is a prime spot for a good meal during a night out. Each burger I've had has been awesome, same with the sides and other main courses. So I'd say give them a try on your next night out. read more

We asked for about 3 things on the menu and he didnt have a clue about the beers nor understood the menu, had to go ask 3 times. So we settled for food we didn't want cause we were starving even though we should have just left. About 10-15 minutes later he brings the food out and it was the most atrocious thing I've ever seen and eaten. I ordered a burger and fries. How do you screw up a burger! The burger was all crumbly and gray, no char or grill marks. The toppings were ok. My friend ordered a burger as well and a mixed drink. Same burger as mine, crumbly, tastless, gray, just plain awful. The side salad was worse. All the lettuce had brown old lettuce in it. Gross. The mixed drink, umm where did that bartender learn this. Was a simple drink with gin, soda water and lemon juice. Well it came with sprite, lime syrup, and was completely undrinkable. When I started to look around I noticed that the waiter was never around, the manager did a drive by jusy commenting hope all is good. We didnt want to pay but we. Eventually we paid and didn't leave a tip. Overall, this place is garbage. You can find a better burger at a fast food chain which isnt saying much. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Was a new addition to a hardened Detroit-like economy. The fact that this place added an option to eat to an area with very few options earned this place a star. The next star comes from the decent service they usually provide. This place would be much better if they actually flavor their patties instead of adding an 1/8 of an inch of seasonings which tends to cause them to be dry. Not to mention the patties themselves are thick which sometimes come just a tad undercooked. Adopt a new fry and some quality ketchup. Poor communication from staff as we were originally sat in a "closed section" and had to move to another table. Waitress was very rude and unapproachable from the beginning. Ordered a beer.
