Wanted to give this spot a try being that it's new and right next door to one of our favorite spots. Went the weekend of the Fourth of July. Had no problems making a reservation for arrival in the next 20 minutes. Arrived at the restaurant, no problem being seated (we were seated at a high top table by the bar). The good: Ordered a watermelon margarita and it was really good! Guacamole (with pico) was very good. Tacos that I ordered were pretty good of the 3 I tried (el pastor, carne asada & Shrimp) the el pastor taco was my favorite. Room for improvement: the person I was dining with, who has dietary restrictions had a few issues. She ordered the tuna stack and it was ok. Nothing wrong with it just not for us. She also ordered a mocktail. Again nothing wrong with it, just not for her. She really did like the watermelon margarita ( I let her taste mine). Her food came out with cheese and she's allergic to dairy. She did order her food without cheese and when the server (who wasn't really a server, we believe he's a bar back) took the order without writing any of it down caused us raised eyebrows. This is typically where most establishments go wrong when there are dietary restrictions. So her food comes out with the restricted item on it and they took it back. 20+ minutes go by and no sight of her food. I'd finished my food. So much so another bar back came over and cleared the table. We had to stop another server going by to get them to get us someone because she still hadn't received her food. The same bar back who had cleared our table came back and gave us our bill. We had to explain that she still hadn't received her corrected order. Another 5-10 minutes go by and they bring out her order; correct this time. The server who originally took our order never showed back up after he took our order. I turn around to see who was around d to help us get her food out and our original server was behind the bar cleaning or something. He wasn't serving drinks, which is how I came to the conclusion that he was a bar back. Other than that the music was way too loud. Most times when people dine out not being able to talk to the person you are dining with due to loud music is a bit off putting, however, this is a very easy fix. FYI. I DJ so I'm accustomed to loud music. Overall: would I go back, YES! The food was good, the items that weren't to our liking weren't bad but more so options that weren't for our specific tastebuds. With this being a newer establishment, that recently opened, we understand that there are things that have to be worked on like training the staff correctly (as others have said in their reviews here). These are totally correctable issues, with a little more time and training if these things are addressed. I look forward to visiting again in the future. read more

Just went in at1pm. Waited for minutes to even see a hostess. Had to go into the bar area for them to actually call the hostess. We saw tons of tables open but were still told there was a 20 minute wait. If this is their idea of service we sure didn't want to order. Walked out. It was 5 minutes to see the hostess. read more

Stopped in to Fat Rosie's for happy hour. Nice place. Dancing music playing, great vibes. Decor is upscale. Ordered a few beers and steak nachos. Female bartender was great stopped by several times asked us how we were doing. Now the disappointing part. The nachos- ordered steak nachos. Very few pieces of meat, little bits of cheese and tomatoes. Beans were dry. Felt like it was just put together as an after thought. No flavor. Hope to try the food next time. Came in for dinner and drinks with friends, the margaritas were delicious and strong( the grilled pineapple Margarita is chef's kiss). The service was just okay but the food was horrible. I understand that it is valentines day weekend, but it wasn't packed in there and the fact that a table who was seated long after mine were served their apps AND entrees before we received our entrees is an issue for me. I ordered fajitas, it is known that fajitas come to your table sizzling hot, but when I received mine not only was the platter not sizzling, the food wasn't even hot. It also tasted very bland, the margs had more seasoning than the food! I tried to get the waiter's attention but he was too busy talking to his table of friends, guess he forgot he was at work (he quickly remembered when he stared us down when it was time to add a tip to our checks).. I was ready to just pay and leave at that point. I've heard good things about this place, unfortunately I have no desire to give them another try. Today was the first time trying Fat Rosie's , we came to the oak Brook location. 10/10 recommend! Our waiter was Rommy , very polite, gave us all the recommendations (which were absolutely amazing) .
