My go to grocery store. They have everything I need and are super nice and quick to check out! Meats are fresh, my favorite is the beef milanesa,done just right. You can even grab prepared food from the restaurant and they also have ice cream and prepared snacks. read more

Small taco spot in Villa Park IL that serves up some good and affordable tacos. This place has never disappointed me. Good quality and nice portion of food. Overall great service, small place and a hole in the wall! Food was all delicious, we tried the steak Gordita's, chorizo tacos, and the chile de puerco con salsa verde! All of it was delicious, and the best part you can choose your toppings and it's all fresh! The rice was great and the beans, and salsas (red or green) complimented the meal perfectly. They also sell a variety of drinks and Mexican glass bottles of several Mexican sodas. They accept cash or credit cards. I have been meaning to try this Taqueria for some time, but its a bit out of the way and hard to notice, so I'm almost always past it when I think of it. Probably one of the best burritos I have eaten since college. Something about how the ingredients blend, and how the shell is stuffed tight with steak, lettuce, and beans. This was a good experience. The dishes I got (poblano pepper taco, carnitas taco, al pastor tostada) were seasoned well, and brought to my table hot. Not gonna lie, since my previous review in '09 this store has changed a bit. It's no longer La Tiendita, it's now La Rosita Food Market y Taqueria. I know......who the heck is Rosita right? Well I don't know but baby girl went in there and changed errrrything in the store. Except the workers, they're all still there. The tacos have gotten better in the taqueria. Still inexpensive which is always a good thing and they still carry my favorite sauce, Yucateco. If you don't know what that is, please, educate yourself (http://www.elyucateco.com). They also added this new sauce at the deli which is made with Habanero and Oh. Em. Gee. if you're lucky enough to visit when they have it, I suggest you get it. Caution: It's HOT! The chicharrones are now apart from the carnitas (I'm guessing too many people were eating them with out paying) so you have to order them from the carnicero (meat man). Of course I order Chicharrones all the time. Cut them up, add that habanero sauce, put 'em on a tortilla and call it one of the best tacos you'll ever have. You're welcome. ;) La Rosita carries all the Jarrito flavors you can imagine AND they have cidral and Sangria. The minimum for a credit card purchase is still $10, but I'm sure we can all manage to spend that. I still feel like some of their items are way over priced, hence the 4 star rating and not a 5. Little taquerias like this one attached to Mexican markets like this are usually a good bet for quality food, as the locals who shop there have high expectations for both food and value. La Rosita is definitely no exception. Thanks to reviewer Osiris V. for giving me the inspiration to check it out. I had a tostada (al pastor) and gordita (carne asada), and each of them were served piping hot and were delicious. Next time I'll check out their tacos. Incidentally, this place is a casual as it gets. Paper towel rolls on the tables for napkins - you get the idea. If I had an extra 10 minutes I might consider driving up to North Avenue to the Villa Park Fruit Market. I like it just a little bit better. But trust me, you could do a lot worse than this place if you're hungry on Roosevelt Rd. read more

Closest thing to authentic Mexican food around here. Also pretty cheap. I think the food is too salty. But still quite tasty. It's a plus that they have chicharrones. These people's parents should be ashamed of them cuz I know they didn't eat this bad growing up. I had a Lengua taco (beef tongue) and it didn't even looked cooked all the way. The steak gordita was awfully drenched in beans and lettuce and tomato seemed old. The rice had no flavor like it was sitting for a while and the beans looked like they had water added to them. There is another REAL supermarket in Glendale Heights with the same name so when I seen this place I thought they were related and they are not. The food there is amazing. I had better Mexican food in Wisconsin Dells at a fake white people Mexican restaurant then this crap here. As a person who grew up in predominately Mexican neighborhood in LA, your weekends were usually filled with hangovers and looking for a good place for Pho or Menudo. Usually a heaping bowl and spicy ass menudo with Mexican oregano, chili flakes, squeeze of lime and patas if they have them. But as you can see my list, it's actually missing a key side dish which I didn't get when ordering this place. -1 star for it. WHO THE HELL DOESN'T GIVE YOU CORN TORTILLAS WITH MENUDO!?!?!?!?? Not sure if they forgot or if this is their standing operating procedure but come on dude!! I guess it is partially my fault for not checking. If I knew they don't give any tortillas with your order, I could've just went to next door (Mexican market) and grabbed some myself. $11 dollars for about half gallon of menudo people. Good stuff. Their name is la rosita but I'm not sure why it is showing up here as la tiendita. Maybe they changed their name so keep your eye out for it. You won't want to miss it. This is an awesome little find. Attached to a Grocery store. My husband and I order the asada tacos. Great meat quality and allot of it. We go the traditional way with onions and cilantro, and they did not cut back on those either. With the limes and green sauce provided it was well worth the stop.
