I was looking for a place to watch the World Cup. I ended up coming to Comales in Lombard. I'm glad I did. I ordered 2 tacos for my son and 3 tacos for myself. I also ordered the Queso Fundido. The Queso was a good portion and came with tortillas. Well worth it. This location also serves alcohol. I had a beer, Michelada and Margarita. The service was great. I was checked on frequently. Oh and don't let me forget to mention that they have a Happy Hour menu. I arrived before the start of Happy Hour but I also was there to order from their Happy Hour Menu. It's a good deal. There was plenty of space so my son and I were able to enjoy the game. They have 3 screens Who knows what it will be like after this post but Comales deserves your visit. Los Comales is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Western suburbs. It's cozy, but has quite a few tables. For bigger groups, they pull the small tables together. Great service. They are always quick to seat you and bring chips to the table. The servers check on you frequently. Although you have to go to the counter to pay your bill once you're done. The chips and salsa are great. Chips have a nice amount of salt and the sauce is very flavorful and has a nice fresh consistency. They offer three sauces including my absolute favorite-Avocado sauce (Light green one). They offer several delicious drink options including a tasty traditional margarita on the rocks. Taco Tuesday specials are good. Although you're are limited to just a few options and you have to pay for it with cash. What would make this place even better is if they offered Happy Happy specials. We went to Los Comolas tonight and had a really disappointing experience. I ordered a burrito and my wife ordered a chicken torta. She immediately said the torta tasted off. I tried the chicken and at first it seemed okay, but once I got into the middle of my burrito there was a strong, pungent flavor -- likely from the sour cream or lettuce. It was not right. We returned both dishes. Even though the food clearly had an issue, they initially refused to remove my burrito from the bill because I had eaten part of it before realizing something was wrong. They did remove the torta only after I pushed back. The manager, who wouldn't even come over because he was on the phone, said I had to pay for the burrito anyway. To make it worse, they charged us full price for a happy hour margarita. The whole time they treated us like we were trying to get out of paying instead of taking a legitimate complaint seriously. Here's a revised version: --- I visited on Tuesday and had a mixed experience. Upon entering, I sat wherever I liked and placed my order with a male server who brought chips and salsa. However, the salsa came in a very small cup compared to the tray of chips, making the ratio off. It would be better to either provide fewer chips or more salsa to match. What bothered me most was overhearing a female server mention the weekly specials, which I'd never been told about before. On Tuesdays, they have taco specials if you pay in cash (which seemed a bit odd), and on Thursdays, they offer half-off margaritas. I've been coming here for the past six months, and neither I nor my server were ever informed about these deals. That said, the steak tacos with cilantro and onion are the best in Lombard. The menu has a great variety of chicken, steak, and seafood options. I'll definitely return to try other items, but I was disappointed not to know about the specials until now. read more

We don't know of that many eateries with parrillada and we stumbled upon this one by chance and it is definitely a keeper. The menu states the portion is good for three people but the four of us adults and two young children had plenty of leftover to take home. The parrillada was piled with shrimp, chicken, pork, and steak in addition to vegetables and fries. The meat texture was tender and well-grilled. There was something for everyone. We love the Los Comales in Bridgeview, but can't always make our way out there now that we've moved. We decided to try the Lombard location. It did not disappoint! We originally planned on ordering a carne asada dinner each, but saw the parillada on the menu for around $50. It said it feeds 3, they lied. It feeds around 4-6 people based on how we ate. It's immense! The parillada includes Carne asada, Al pastor, chorizo, shrimp, steak milanesa, chicken milanesa, onions and peppers, jalapeños, grilled green onions and French fries. Served with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. Literally something for everyone! I tried all the proteins and all the veg, everything was very well prepared, hot, and delicious! There are three different salsas on the table, red, green, and avocado based, and the pico that came with the chips was great! It had a kick, but we love spicy food. It was supposed to be a quick lunch on a Sunday, so we didn't try any of the drinks, but the bar was also very cute. Next time, margaritas all around! The restaurant itself was neat and clean. My husband likes the faux grass wall treatment so much that he's talking about doing it in our home. I'm actively trying to talk him out of it. It's cute there, but not really for me. Ive had good experiences here over the last year or so. The Taco Tuesday, cash only, was pretty good (although they are smaller Street tacos). Eating in for lunch also good. Lately the carry out has been going a little downwards. The food is jammed together in foil wraps, all of our carryout was a wet, soggy mess after only a short car ride home. Not a pleasant experience nor appetizing when unwrapping the food. Our last carry-out visit, for regular tacos, we were charged $1.50 each taco to switch to flour instead of corn tortillas. Visited the location in Melrose Park first before realizing there was a location much nearer to home! At the former location, they give free spicy carrots/peppers. Here, they give free chips and salsa! The menu is large with so many choices. I ordered 1 shrimp taco and 1 fish taco. Hubbie ordered beef fajitas with horchata. The food was excellent. The portions were generous and we brought a good amount of the fajitas home, which afforded us lunch the next day. The shrimp taco was one of the best I've had. Finally some legit Mexican food! Oh man, you don't know how happy we were to find this restaurant after many letdowns. We've been here a couple times and tried the burritos, tacos, and taco salads of different proteins. My favorite by far is the al pastor. Soooo flavorful and perfectly cooked with a nice char on it, and some pieces are even crispy which provides a change in texture. The lengua, asada and chorizo are delicious as well. Least favorites would probably be bistec and fish tacos, unfortunately they were a bit bland so I'd probably pass on those. The burritos are generously packed with meat of choice, lettuce, sour cream, rice and more, all that goodness. But also avocado !!! I was so surprised because the taquerias in the city where I'm from would charge for avocado lol. Extra kudos. My (Mexican) bf really enjoys their rice and beans, and says it's comparable to the way his mom cooks it. I can name three other places for you, this ain't it. I ordered via DoorDash (Taqueria Los Comales Lombard), four tacos they were absolutely disgusting. Smushed together, packed poorly and no it has nothing to do with the driver. I looked at this and wanted to throw up. Maybe someone had an off day? Maybe it was waiting at the restaurant for too long, I don't know but Quesabirria tacos are not supposed to be soggy, they're even a little crispy at some places and they include cheese. The cheese was completely unmelted because they put it on top of lukewarm beef. I asked for avocado there was one teeny sliver of avocado. I couldn't find any sour cream. Couldn't taste the beans this thing was dry as hell, when I tried to add the green salsa, it was so jellied I couldn't get it out of the container. Very good tasting sopes with lots of everything. I had mine with steak. They do not give chips and salsa for the to go orders nor the sample of beans you get when you eat in. :( I also ordered the tripa crispy tacos and they weren't all that. No lime was given for the tacos or the soup. My husband had the beef soup and the carne en su jugo because he wasn't feeling well but I cannot say what that tasted like. There was not a lot of vegetables in the soup. It had some carrots that I could see but not much else. The carne en su jugo had lots of beans. They do have a lot of to go orders and pickups which is good for them but there is better. I waited 30 minutes to get my order but it was still hot by the time it got to its destination.
