Super cute little shop and smells of delicious garlic fries. Friendly customer service and timely. Ambiance is adorable and comforting. However, with all due respect; the milk tea was not good and stained my teeth :(

Omg yum! Cute boba cafe with anything you may be craving. Food was served hot and fresh and packaged nicely. Think of a Quickly but not a chain. Support local! Lady who took my order was friendly and I will be back!

1. Hostess or wait time Zero wait time upon arrival. Cashier was semi-welcoming. After ordering, many middle/highschool students rushed in. 2. Service & Ambiance The Match Smoothie came out fast and didn't wait too long for the popcorn chicken. Interior is very pink and hipster. Even saw a cotton candy vending machine in the back ! 3. Food Popcorn chicken was on point! Crunchy and not super salty like other places I've been. 4. Plating & presentation of the dishes Everything was in to go plastic. 5. Price Popcorn chicken was definitely in the better pricing $6.75 Match Smoothie was $3.50

I was picking something up for work and this place was located nearby. I had some spare time, so I decided to try this place out. There was no one inside and the only person who was there was a lady. I took sometime to look at the menu, but decided on my order. I have went here two times, so I will discuss each drink I had. Strawberry Kiwi Green Tea with Green Apple Jelly: The better of the two drinks I had. I asked for half sweet, which tasted fine to me. The green apple jelly did taste as advertised. Other than that, nothing really stood out to me. Strawberry Banana Smoothie: Dont get the smoothies. They taste powder based and I am not a huge fan of that. It did not taste like a real smoothie to me. Overall, it's an alright place. Haven't had the milk tea yet, and from reading others review, not sure if I will soon. Fruit tea was at least tolerable

I am extremely disappointed. I ordered the taro smoothie as well as the fried tofu. They asked me if I wanted mild or spicy and of course I opted in the mild. Though it took a few minutes for the tofu to cook, and in the meantime, I was sipping on the taro smoothie. To my surprise, the drink was delicious. However, as soon as I got the tofu, it came with some salty brown sauce. It was almost too salty for my taste bud. I'm surprised they did not use sweet chili Thai sauce, like just about every other restaurant that sells fried tofu. Not impressed and definitely I would have to avoid their fried tofu in the future. they could even use hoisin sauce instead of whatever sauce they served with. I can't go higher than three star rating with this location. Lastly, The customer service needs to improve. When I entered the location, I felt like I was bothering them, especially the girl behind the cash register. Price: A Quality: C Service: C

Upon stepping into Fat Straw Cafe, I felt like I was transported right back to the early 2000's, going to HK and Taiwanese-style cafes as a kid when my mom decided to get us a little treat. With easy parking within a plaza and a spacious location with both indoor & outdoor seating, it's a menu/interior revamp away from being *the* trendy, cute place for drinks in the area. The service is friendly though there is, understandably, a little wait if you want food items, since they are prepared to order. Drinks: 3/5, pretty mediocre, a bit watery, and didn't taste too fresh; I would put them on the same tier as a drink from Quickly, probably. Not undrinkable, by any means, but not great. Plain bubble waffle ($4.75): 3/5, lacking the egg flavor that you'd normally expect from egg/bubble waffles; the batter was a little dry and tasted more like regular waffles. Popcorn chicken ($5.50): 5/5, delicious!! Crispy and flavorful but still tender inside, and super hot since it came straight out of the kitchen. Definitely amongst the better popcorn chicken I've had at a boba spot, especially in this area; it's a must-try if you're at Fat Straw. The old booths and boba posters actually add to the charm if you miss the kinds of spots that were around before boba shops became super trendy. However, there are improvements that could be made to some of the menu items-- while I don't need every cafe to be "Instagrammable", I do expect basics like regular milk tea with pearls to be a little better.

What we got when we ordered a blue circle with yellow flower. Lol

Really wonderful tea…read more The flavor of the tea truly comes out in each cup and the recipes for the non tea drinks are excellent as well! Jasmine milk tea- ordered with the fresh taro $1 (super great! Smeared on bottom and on the sides, small chunks) with cubed boba (see through, good boba) ~$9 total 7/5 Strawberry milk tea- wow. Even this was outstandingly delicious. Some puree, used some real strawberries. Through the milk and strawberry the tea flavor came through delightfully. Aiyu jelly - a little tough tangy jelly. 7/5 ~$9 Mango passion smoothie - you can choose with tea or without. We chose without for the little one, but it was amazing also! Well balanced not too sweet. Real fruit used. 7/5 Ordered in a kiosk, very busy 2 staff at closing time. Hard to talk to them, but they made some dang good drinks, so who cares?! lol. Small sipping area, maybe 8-12 chairs, loud non offensive music. Cute set up.

Great beverage options!…read more Went to grab a pizza across the way and saw this place - glad I stopped in! Got the Strawberry smoothie (no caffeine) and it was refreshing. Was happy they had no caffeine options! But be careful with the sugar... you can order by percentage from 0-100%. Staff were all super cool... they were kind enough to let me know they have a shop in SJ (where I live) :) It is a small place.. so take out is probably the best option. And parking was easy.... Although it was late in the day and most of the other places were closed. Would I go back? Yes! Especially on a hot day!

As our organizer mentioned, they were fully booked that night so do reserve early. Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. Parking is ample, with a short walk, in this Nob Hill Foods shopping center.
