Today I was driving North on San Pedro to run work errands, not even thinking of bbq. But then it hit me, the smell and smoke through my window and I turned left to see the pop-up! Corner of 15th & San Pedro, set up is across the street from the LA Face mart. If you get near by I am sure you will see it or smell it:) Swung by after my lunch time errands, excited to get me some briskets again. But not today... Only the ribs, hot links, chicken were available this day. No worries, went for the $10 hot links to try something different. The hot links were good, the inside texture was smooth, don't think I've had this kind before. It definitely has kick, and definitely need to eat with bread. For my weak taste buds, it was too spicy and it literally took a lot of sweat, but ate it all up since still addicting. Been about 10 mins since I cleaned up, but I am still kinda perspiring, lol. I think for me personally, the hot links is 3 stars, since I can't enjoy as much while pouring sweat from my head. But then I'm weak (I pour sweat eating the mild green salsa from King Taco for reference). If you can handle the heat, I think it would be a 4. Hot links seem like a good item to get for the $5 sandwich. But then not sure if you get that crack potato salad! Will be on the lookout next time to see if they have briskets.

Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

We found easy street parking in the neighborhood on 41st Street, and waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. We ordered the asada tacos. They pre-sauce your tacos, which was fine by me, but my boyfriend who can't handle as much spice would've preferred it on the side (so warning for anyone similar! they do put a little habanero on them, so just ask them for salsa on the side). I think I ran into a problem of reading too many raving reviews -- these tacos were good but I was expecting them to be mind blowing, so I was a little disappointed. I tasted the charcoal char, but kind of wished the taste was more pronounced, or at least the meat more seasoned. The hand made tortillas were definitely the coolest part, but I thought they were a little dry too. The ladies whipping those out are artists though. Actually, all the workers here have the assembly line down to the tea, and they definitely add a little flare for a show. I particularly liked how they had a lot of seating at this location, instead of just a couple stools lying around like most taco trucks. It felt more like outdoor patio seating than a normal taco stand. They could probably take more time to wipe down tables more often though. Overall would visit again if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way for the tacos here.

When I saw "stand" I…read morethought it would be a bit more of an official thing, but seriously is a few tables and a grill. If you don't see it at first, just look for the bigger van where they bring in the stuff, and you'll see people working. But even with the minimal working parts, these tacos are the best. You order up at the grill. The grill table is complete with a giant kebab of al pastor pork, chicken, beans, cheese, and grilled onions. Once you say what you'd like, they make it up super fast. (We had tacos al pastor and a burrito al pastor). On the table behind the grill, there is someone rolling out the individual tortillas (which are fabulous and obviously super fresh). After they make your choice of dinner, you step to the side to pay (cash only) for what you've ordered. They also have horchata at this point, which is not to be missed and a huge cup is only $2. After you've gotten your food, you can walk over to another table. This is filled with salsas, spicy avocado sauce, onions, Pico, cucumber, and limes (I feel like I'm forgetting something). So you add your own in whatever quantities. Make sure next time you're in town to stop by here. I saw other food trucks in the area but I can say that this made my evening better FOR SURE.

Mariscos Jaliscos is a simple, humble and easy going food truck that easily beats any sit in boujee restaurant. Their menu is simple and easy to understand. Mariscos Jalisco is best known for their Fried shrimp tacos however, they have one of the best aguachiles I've tasted hands down. Their shrimp tacos are absolutely amazing with the right crunchiness and soft fried shrimp inside. The sauce that comes with these tacos are jam packed with flavor adding to the overall flavors/texture of the shrimp taco. Hurts to say it but this might be my new favorite shrimp taco in ELA/Boyle Heights area. The service here is quick and friendly. I went on a Friday afternoon and did not find busy crowds at this food truck. Street parking is available and the times that i've visited other food trucks nearby i was able to find quick parking. Its a busy street so you will find people coming in and out of parking spots most of the time. I enjoyed my experience here at Mariscos Jalisco and will be coming back very soon. Many come with the intention of getting a TJ Dog, many get talked into it by those selling it, and many succumbed to the munchies. No matter the reason, they're more tasty than they smell (if that's possible). Many have some hot dogs in all stages of their cook state (cooked enough, some char, lots of char, almost overcooked). A lot of the hot dog vendors have their PayPal/Venmo QR codes taped onto their cart. You can't tell the difference between the TJ dogs sold here and the ones in Tijuana. I've personally never gotten sick after eating these. Service is quick, there may be a bit of a language barrier, but not enough to prevent your purchase of a hot tasty TJ dog.

They're particularly amazing if the vendor is set up on a corner, it should be at least midnight, and you should be a couple of sheets to the wind. I don't know if it's the car exhaust marinade or the lard cooking ingredients, but those damn Dirty Dogs are life-changingly good! (Make sure you get it with all the fixings... Calories don't count after midnight.) Whether it's outside the clubs in Hollywood, or you're celebrating the Lakers win outside the Staples Center, those trusty carts are a godsend to LA food lovers like me! Now to find those bad boys, if you're good, you can locate a stand by scouring the city for the queue on corner - the clear indicator of the food stand. But if you're freaking awesome (like my fatty friend, Ellen Sue C.), you can simply stick your head out the car window and sniff the nighttime air to find them. Either way, bacon-wrapped hot dogs are staple in the culture of LA. It's what makes us so damn awesome! NOTE: It has been tough finding these jewels lately, and I discovered on my last lucky adventure that they are required to have permits now, and that many have acquired trucks instead of carts!
