Something that is bothering me and it isnt their fault. Its yelp and other delivery services. When I go to the restaurant my delivery is $18.89, when I order through yelp for delivery it is $25.23, when I use DDash it is $24.29. When I go to the restaurant the drinks are $3.50 when I use either on of the apps the drink is $8.50. What happened, because the drink didnt get any bigger or more special. Anyway people check the prices because it is more worth it to go get the food. These companies are scamming. read more

One good thing is they open 24/7. I just get my regular carne asada burrito. They originally doesn't come with rice so it's perfect for me. Service was good and outdoor eating area was clean. The meat is not the best, it tasted more like roasted meat than grilled or cooked on griddle. Without the time convenient, I would rate them 3 stars. read more

Edit: Initially I gave it a 5 but after eating the second burrito it was so badly rolled everything fell apart. Usually falling apart is a sign of an authentic burrito but in this case it wasn't enjoyable. The bites were uneven. More beans than pastor. Just not good. I ended up at El Huero on one of those cold misty LA evenings where it feels like the universe is giving you a complimentary facial and every outdoor chair is just moist enough to make you question your life choices. We wiped ours down and honestly it didn't even matter because the vibe here is immaculate. The lady working the front was incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes you feel like you're about to eat something special. She set the tone for the whole experience. Now let's talk tacos. Los Angeles has officially decided that five dollars for a taco is the new normal and I've stopped resisting because the tacos at El Huero make it easier to accept my financial destiny. They were genuinely great, the kind of greasy deliciousness that makes you forget you said you were going to start eating "lighter." I can't complain about them at all. The agua fresca was not perfect, but the tacos carried the entire meal on their back. We only tried the tacos so I can't speak on the rest of the menu, but judging by the crowd, this place is clearly doing everything right. There were USC students everywhere, and plenty of people who weren't Latino absolutely devouring their food with enthusiasm, which honestly tells you its own story. If you can stay busy near USC with a mixed crowd like that, the food is legit. The wait was totally fine, but it is one of those places where you have to stay alert because they call your order like a low-key mission briefing. It adds a little adrenaline to the meal. The real win, though, is the parking lot. In LA, finding parking is usually a full psychological battle. El Huero actually has a lot and there were spots available because so many people walk in. That alone felt like a blessing. Overall, El Huero has everything going for it. Great tacos, great vibe, super friendly staff, and parking that doesn't make you question your life decisions. The burrito mad mushy no type of solid form to it the beans are I guess refried they don't put rice in the burrito only protein which I ask for asada and they put pico, guac so basically tomato avocado and refried beans with meat! In the USC area on Fig. The drive through window is on the passenger side window. The parking lot is small so you have to be careful parking and driving around. It's a Mexican food restaurant but they sell hamburgers also. I ordered a Hamburger Special- a hamburger, fries and a soda for $13.69 which included tax. Not bad. The hamburger was a 7/10, kind of bland. The fries were undercooked and the soda (root beer) was fiat and not strong. I would go there again if I ordered Mexican food. read more

Great 24hour option for Mexican food by USC or DOWNTOWN LA. Use to be Chano's years ago. Might be a tad better nowadays. Quite often, I get the Signature Burrito with carne asada, al pastor or sometimes chicken. But you can build your burrito here too. Seems like a pretty solid choice at Midnight or 3am since they are open 24 hours. Beef Tacos were pretty good also. They have many vegetarian options on the menu as well. Small parking lot if you want to park and eat at the few tables but the drive thru is my go to. Grab and go is how I roll from here. read more

The knife they give you is so thin & flimsy, you have to ask for a spoon to hold the burrito. They don't have a bathroom for customers to use. Caveat- this is only based on cheese fries: Vegetarian review. Cheese fries were definitely cheesy, but the fries themselves were kind of undercooked. This is not because they were soft from the mountain of cheese- they were in it of themselves slightly underdone. Still good, but not great. The wait is pretty impressive. We sat at the drive-thru for so long without a response that I got out of the car to order at the window. It was a race to order- one person in the drive-thru and one person in line. I've been coming to Chano's/El Huero since I was at least 16, likely a few years before. I'm about to turn 37, so 21ish years. I've had more hits than misses in terms of food taste and consistency. Even after the new ownership. The taste stayed close much the same. But I've reached my final straw tonight, after having several other complaints before now. My final straw was going there tonight and realizing how much they've recently increased their prices. They have always been a little inflated compared to similar restaurants--- but I wanted a Potato Taco, and they have raised the price (of ALL tacos) to $6.00 each. I've never paid that much for a Potato taco. All of there prices have been streamlined, but drastically increased --- it is NOT worth it. I was so happy to see that there were no lines or drive thru waits, but I think the price hike is why. In addition to my last straw above, let me tell what else has gone downhill... - Customer Service: some of the staff are really great and reasonably friendly, others, not so much. I've never been in a drive thru argument until it happened here recently when the drive thru employee decided to yell and cuss at me because I asked for a manager when he would not allow me to redeem my points for their rewards program. - Rewards: Their rewards are a scam. Once you patronized them enough to get a free item, which is no easy task, the don't allow you to redeem. Sometimes they blame it on the time of day, other times it's "the manager has to approve it and is not here". Wtf? If you're a 24 hour restaurant, you should be able to honor your rewards 24 hours a day. Those are my 3 major complaints, and after the 3rd strike, I'm out. read more

I've been going to El Huero since 2002, when it was Chano's! I was first shown this USC tradition and Staple, by my Uncle, who went to USC. Coming from the Bay Area and the Central Coast, we weren't used to HOMEMADE Tortillas! Every SC game, required a trip to Chano's/El Huero's. The Chorizo Burrito's with Orange Bang were the order, always! Even traveled from Nipomo, CA to El Huero's and back, all for it! This is the hole in the hole in the wall, you search out! This trip, we pulled up to the menu and were greeted nicely. I ordered the Pollo Soft Taco, Orange Bang, and Pollo Burrito, with Rice, Cheese, Guacamole, and Sour Cream. The homemade tortillas were great. Soft, slight grit, fluffy, blanket of love. The Guacamole was slightly tangy/spicy, adding that fatty/acid to cut through the salty, peppery, juicy, grilled chicken. The rice was fluffy and cooked nice with good flavor. All finished by the beautiful taste of a Creamsicle, coming from the Orange Bang! *The chicken quality didn't seem as high as it used to be. It was a little dry and overcooked.
