Not one of the best in LA burritos
Monique B.

The burrito mad mushy no type of solid form to it the beans are I guess refried they don't put rice in the burrito only protein which I ask for asada and they put pico, guac so basically tomato avocado and refried beans with meat! I tried to give my son the burrito he's 7 and prefer Taco Bell! They done fell off it's not how it used to be!! I asked for rice and they put NONE even though they don't charge for the add on but I guess.

I ended up at El Huero on one of those cold misty LA evenings where it feels like the universe is giving you a complimentary facial and every outdoor chair is just moist enough to make you question your life choices. We wiped ours down and honestly it didn't even matter because the vibe here is immaculate. The lady working the front was incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes you feel like you're about to eat something special. She set the tone for the whole experience. Now let's talk tacos. Los Angeles has officially decided that five dollars for a taco is the new normal and I've stopped resisting because the tacos at El Huero make it easier to accept my financial destiny. They were genuinely great, the kind of greasy deliciousness that makes you forget you said you were going to start eating "lighter." I can't complain about them at all. The agua fresca was not perfect, but the tacos carried the entire meal on their back. We only tried the tacos so I can't speak on the rest of the menu, but judging by the crowd, this place is clearly doing everything right. There were USC students everywhere, and plenty of people who weren't Latino absolutely devouring their food with enthusiasm, which honestly tells you its own story. If you can stay busy near USC with a mixed crowd like that, the food is legit. The wait was totally fine, but it is one of those places where you have to stay alert because they call your order like a low-key mission briefing. It adds a little adrenaline to the meal. The real win, though, is the parking lot. In LA, finding parking is usually a full psychological battle. El Huero actually has a lot and there were spots available because so many people walk in. That alone felt like a blessing. Overall, El Huero has everything going for it. Great tacos, great vibe, super friendly staff, and parking that doesn't make you question your life decisions. I would absolutely come back, and honestly I probably will because once you find a taco spot that makes you forget you paid five dollars for a single tortilla of joy, you don't let it go.

Worst pastrami fries ever

Worst fries ever definitely not recommend this place. Also cost way too much for the food and perspectiveness of there

I was always looking for some good Mexican food (I'm from Chicago) and I finally found my place. I don't have to travel too far. The food is 10 out of 10. I got their Carne Asada burrito, rice, and beans with a melon agua Fresca!! 10/10 I came back immediately the next day!!

Nachos were so good we came back again. Horchata was delicious great place for lunch.

Pastrami chili cheese fries with thousand Island and jalapenos not even close to the best Tam's is way better and cheaper

The worst pastrami chili sweet fries I've ever tasted the jalapenos are not sliced The thousand Island doesn't taste like thousand Island it's terrible

I came here because thinking it would still be good as there was a line and plenty of customers dining. I also came because I use to eat here as a child but it was called Chanos at the time. How times have changed. I got a regular burger which almost 10 dollars but I was hungry. The burger was so thin and not the best tasting but they were quick and got my order within 10 min. The parking is limited but they do have a drive thru

Hibiscus 24 oz. Fountain Drink

Good Street Food! My friend recommended the hard shell tacos. I got hard shell taco meal that came with beans & rice. And a Hibiscus drink. I got chicken. It was pretty good. I had few little pieces of over cooked chicken. But over all good.

Few minutes south of Crypto.com Arena.

Great 24hour option for Mexican food by USC or DOWNTOWN LA. Use to be Chano's years ago. Might be a tad better nowadays. Quite often, I get the Signature Burrito with carne asada, al pastor or sometimes chicken. But you can build your burrito here too. Seems like a pretty solid choice at Midnight or 3am since they are open 24 hours. Beef Tacos were pretty good also. They have many vegetarian options on the menu as well. Small parking lot if you want to park and eat at the few tables but the drive thru is my go to. Grab and go is how I roll from here.

Wet chicken burrito with double rice.
Chris P. B.

This place is situated near the Felix Chevrolet & near USC. I got the wet chicken burrito with double rice. The food tastes great, with only outside seating. The knife they give you is so thin & flimsy, you have to ask for a spoon to hold the burrito. They don't have a bathroom for customers to use. In addition, there was an older Latino guy playing his music loud while I was eating my food. A it ghetto if you ask me but overall it was fine.

Crap awful picture, but they have a vegetarian menu...

It was my first time here, so I wasn't sure where to go at first, but it's pretty easy to figure out. They have separate lines for tacos, burritos, and aguas frescas, which keeps everything organized and moving smoothly. I went straight for the tacos. I ordered two carne asada, one chorizo, and one al pastor. The condiment setup was also really good. Let me tell you, this hit the spot! I loved the grilled onions, serranos, hot sauce, and especially the curtido de habanero,so good. The carne asada was okay slightly on the tougher side but the chorizo and al pastor were really solid. Taco prices are fair, but the aguas frescas felt a bit on the expensive side. Overall, I'd definitely come back again.

Today I was driving North on San Pedro to run work errands, not even thinking of bbq. But then it hit me, the smell and smoke through my window and I turned left to see the pop-up! Corner of 15th & San Pedro, set up is across the street from the LA Face mart. If you get near by I am sure you will see it or smell it:) Swung by after my lunch time errands, excited to get me some briskets again. But not today... Only the ribs, hot links, chicken were available this day. No worries, went for the $10 hot links to try something different. The hot links were good, the inside texture was smooth, don't think I've had this kind before. It definitely has kick, and definitely need to eat with bread. For my weak taste buds, it was too spicy and it literally took a lot of sweat, but ate it all up since still addicting. Been about 10 mins since I cleaned up, but I am still kinda perspiring, lol. I think for me personally, the hot links is 3 stars, since I can't enjoy as much while pouring sweat from my head. But then I'm weak (I pour sweat eating the mild green salsa from King Taco for reference). If you can handle the heat, I think it would be a 4. Hot links seem like a good item to get for the $5 sandwich. But then not sure if you get that crack potato salad! Will be on the lookout next time to see if they have briskets.

Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

We found easy street parking in the neighborhood on 41st Street, and waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. We ordered the asada tacos. They pre-sauce your tacos, which was fine by me, but my boyfriend who can't handle as much spice would've preferred it on the side (so warning for anyone similar! they do put a little habanero on them, so just ask them for salsa on the side). I think I ran into a problem of reading too many raving reviews -- these tacos were good but I was expecting them to be mind blowing, so I was a little disappointed. I tasted the charcoal char, but kind of wished the taste was more pronounced, or at least the meat more seasoned. The hand made tortillas were definitely the coolest part, but I thought they were a little dry too. The ladies whipping those out are artists though. Actually, all the workers here have the assembly line down to the tea, and they definitely add a little flare for a show. I particularly liked how they had a lot of seating at this location, instead of just a couple stools lying around like most taco trucks. It felt more like outdoor patio seating than a normal taco stand. They could probably take more time to wipe down tables more often though. Overall would visit again if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way for the tacos here.

If you don't see it at first, just look for the bigger van where they bring in the stuff, and you'll see people working. But even with the minimal working parts, these tacos are the best. You order up at the grill. The grill table is complete with a giant kebab of al pastor pork, chicken, beans, cheese, and grilled onions. Once you say what you'd like, they make it up super fast. (We had tacos al pastor and a burrito al pastor). On the table behind the grill, there is someone rolling out the individual tortillas (which are fabulous and obviously super fresh). After they make your choice of dinner, you step to the side to pay (cash only) for what you've ordered. They also have horchata at this point, which is not to be missed and a huge cup is only $2. After you've gotten your food, you can walk over to another table. This is filled with salsas, spicy avocado sauce, onions, Pico, cucumber, and limes (I feel like I'm forgetting something). So you add your own in whatever quantities. Make sure next time you're in town to stop by here. I saw other food trucks in the area but I can say that this made my evening better FOR SURE.
