    carne asada fries
    Samantha W.

Stopped by their truck on a whim after a night out in DTLA. We were craving something salty, and fries sounded perfect! We got both the carne asada fries and the pizza fries. The pizza fries were really good for the first two bites, but after those first two, it was a bit overwhelming. It kind of tasted like I had scraped the cheese & pepperoni layer off of a pizza and was just eating that. It was also a little too oily for my liking. The carne asada fries were bomb though! The meat was cooked perfectly. I also hate fat in my carne asada, and there were practically no fatty pieces, yay! The fries also came with avocado. I thought this was a nice touch because it added an element of freshness to an otherwise greasy late-night snack.

Went to a little pop up show on spring and 7th and I parked and passed by this truck and saw they had pizza fries. So after the show I got me a bottle of Coke and pizza fries. They weren't too bad. It's literally pizza but fries instead of dough that forms the base for the ingredients they had other stuff too but the pizza fries was the one that caught my eye. All in all nothing too special about it other than it being what it is. I do however appreciate the fries though because they had a nice seasoning to it.

Holy cow am I glad I found this truck! Just a couple blocks south of my apartment, which makes it an easy walk, with plenty of time to get home while the food is still hot. I had the asada fries and the classic philly cheese steak. Both super duper delicious. I think the only thing I would have changed is there was no cheese whiz on the sammy. Still great though. Food came up fast and the dude in the truck was super friendly.

    Al pastor tacos ($1.75/each)

We closed down Mrs. Fish at 5th and Hill in DTLA, and we came upon this food truck while walking to our cars. Mr. V's is located all over DTLA and offers cheesesteaks ($10.95), burritos ($8.95), and tacos ($1.75). My friend and I both ordered 2 al pastor tacos w/ beans ($3.50). You also receive carrots on the side. The tacos were OK. The meat was moist but it was not spicy. In addition, there wasn't much of it. Mr. V's is a better option compared to the bacon wrapped hot dogs outside a lot of the clubs and lounges late night. However, like most food trucks, the food is overpriced and the portions are small. Nonetheless, its hard to put a price on convenience vs walking to LA Cafe (open very late), if you are not close to 6th and Spring.

Veggie nachos!! Sooo good. Best nachos I have ever had from a truck.

I love this truck! So many veggie options. I don't usually have good experiences with food trucks because I am vegetarian. All I can usually get are fries or a quesadilla. This truck had so many choices it was crazy. We ordered the veggie tacos and veggie nachos. They piled the toppings high and everything tasted great. The truck was parked on 5th St, by Pershing Square. I'm not sure if they ever move but I have seen them there on numerous occasions. Please check them out if you are ever bar hopping in the area. Especially my vegetarian friends.

    Did not disapoint at all!!

My go-to for whenever I don't bring lunch for work. Prices are decent for LA. Food is fast and consistently good.

I grabbed a burrito from here very spur of the moment. It was super hot and fresh. Probably one of the best burritos of had in awhile.

Good food. Veggie burrito was really good. Wanted a bean burrito but didn't seem be on menu. Service was good and helpful. Ambiance is taco truck good. Nice seating, canopy, condiments, security guard. Maybe even a bathroom with service station nearby! English is good tho Spanish might be more appreciated.

Don't confidently tell me no we don't have it, and I'm like yall have no rice today??, and she tells me no. Just ask me what the fck I'm talking bout shorty. Idk if it's a language barrier but I get a side of rice here all the time. Literally come here once or twice a week and get fkin rice. Today this lady looked at me like I was insane and said they had no rice which is crazy bc what rice do they put in the burrito then. Wasted a 15 min walk just to go home empty handed and start up my car and find another truck.

Misnomer. When I saw the name of this food truck, I thought this might be Central American's "soul"…read morefood, but it was actually US Southern soul food with a little Latin twist. The only Latin American ingredients were tortilla, store-bought chips and their mango salsa (which was good). I like the idea of putting southern food in tortilla for convenient, food-truck dining, but I would expect a bit more blending of the two cuisines with its name. Zora Neale's Special: perfectly seasoned and grilled tilapia with greens (kale) and Mac n' cheese for $12. They serve it in a hamburger styrofoam box, so it looks rather small, but they load it and are very generous with the portions! I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I must say the greens and Mac n' cheese were quite salty, though. 3 Taco Special: your choice of chicken, beef brisket, fish and/or oxtail(!), which comes with store-bought chips and their mango salsa for $12. Each taco is regularly priced at $4. They allow you to order different kinds of meat per order, which is nice, but they didn't have oxtail at this time. :( The beef brisket was good, but again, a tad on the salty side. For sides, I tried the plantain chips and sweet potato fries. The plantain chips were not chips at all, but fried plantains, which were delicious, but we expected chips. The sweet potato fries were crispy and seasoned just right. I also ordered what I thought was watermelon juice, but it was really sugary lemonade with a few pieces of watermelon in it. Again, not what I was expecting. :/ The staff working in the truck was really nice, though, and tried to get orders out quickly.
