This is my go to brunch spot when I don't feel like going crazy but want good food, good drink, and great service. They are somewhat of an all-day Bar. Meaning you can always count on them. All day. Anytime. (Check out their hours) The food is consistent and has a bit of a Mexican vibe to it. I'll be honest the cocktails and beer offering leave a little bit to be desired but truthfully it's not why I keep coming back. Went for brunch and go the macho mañachos and they were really good. I loved the pickled jalapeños and their chicken. Their egg sandwich was also really good and it was just the right amount of eggs because some places will give you very little egg. The grapefruit juice was also very good. I had the lumberdad breakfast which consisted of yummy banana chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and Johnny cakes. I had ordered fried eggs but was given scrambled. When I let our server know he apologized and brought me the fried eggs and still let me keep the scrambled hehe. The pancakes were sooooo yummy and the sauce that they came with was phenomenal. Have I really never reviewed Father Knows Best? Well - here goes. Many a time, I have wished out loud for a place I could go with friends, where they could drink, and I could drink coffee. Then, like magic, FKB appeared. A great place to spend the day or the night alone or with friends. If you go alone, you're sure to make a friend or two. Their cortado is the greatest, their drinks are very carefully curated and delicious, and they even have yummy virgin cocktails for times when you don't feel like drinking. However, we didn't feel welcomed at all. No hello, no anything . But a white couple walked in, and they were greeted nicely and handed menus. Came here for brunch with a friend who lives around the corner. Cute, totally "instagram-able" spot in Brooklyn. We were hungover and famished and shared the cheddar scallion biscuits while I got the Lumberdad breakfast and an orange juice. The service (we think she was the owner?) was amazing. The woman was hilarious and upon hearing about our slow morning and headaches, she whipped us up a hangover cure on the house (soda water with lemon and angostura bitters). Came on a Saturday for brunch and the place was busy! My friends and I got seated pretty quickly. We dined inside but there is also a really cute terrace like seating in the back. I really wanted to love this place. Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. Upon walking in, there's a pretty cool vibe overall and I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Service: Once seated, we were approached relatively quickly to see if we were ready to order. Since we did need a bit of extra time, it took them another 10 minutes to come around to us again. At the time our order was placed, I saw a party just being seated at a nearby table. We were still waiting for our food, while the table that had just been seated had all received theirs already. We had ordered a plate of nachos, and an order of the lumberdad. After a few minutes longer, we did receive the order of nachos so I didn't think much of it. After another 15-20 minutes of us lightly munching on the nachos bc we were still waiting for the other plate, my friend actually went up to ask about the dish bc they never came back to check on us. He brought his own coffee cup up to the bar to be refilled! They then said they were going to check on my plate. After about 5 minutes, they brought out my dish that they clearly forgot but to add insult to injury they apparently tried to make it in the 5 minutes and it was burnt to the point that it was inedible! I understand that things happen, and typically I wouldn't make as big of a deal but the lack of care and consideration just makes a customer to an establishment feel pretty shitty. I gave them one additional star only bc we did try the nachos and they were relatively good, so I feel like this place does have a lot of potential. Sadly it just wasn't a good experience for me. My friend forced me to go here-- It was a spontaneous afternoon snack that we had to try. She was always telling me how good the food is-- i'm so happy we went. The restaurant wasn't to busy so it was seat yourself and order by the bar. It was a mid Sunday-- So it was right after Lunch and right before dinner time frame. We had the pumpkin hummus!! Amazing-- the texture was perfect-- not to liquid not to heavy. It was really the perfect amount of everything. This was my first time that I tried pumpkin anything and I must say I am hooked!! We also had the load nachos-- YUMMY!!! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The biscuits were wonderful. The coconut sauce that came with the pancakes were great and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Great large portions especially if you are hungry! That said- the potatoes weren't amazing( not enough seasoning- [salt ]although the peppers made them taste unique. The pancakes were not the right texture--which was a disappointment. So I am new to the Bushwick area and the first business I noticed was Father Knows Best, however it took me forever to actually visit the establishment. I visited yesterday finally and the vibes were so great in there! Due to the warm weather, they had a good crowd and even had the backyard open for people to sit outside, which was very nice. When you walk in the lights are dimmed, but the energy is high! Our bartender was Greg who was quick, very informative and gave us great conversation even though he was servicing the entire bar. At Greg's recommendation, we ordered the cheddar biscuits with honey chipotle butter, the rib sandwich and the Macho Nachos (vegetarian-style) and boy were they amazing! They also had trivia going while we were there as well! I literally live right across the street from this bar so I will definitely be becoming a regular. Can't wait to try their brunch. read more

The bloody mary's are spicy as hell and are the perfect eye opener for us. The food takes a decent amount of time to get made, but it was so good that neither of us minded! Just left this place 5 mins ago. I can't speak to the brunch here as we were not seated. I wanted to like this place but not matter how good the food may be customer service is paramount. My girlfriend and I enter and wait to be seated. We were promptly asked if we were a party of two. So far so good. The interaction starts to go downhill from here though. We let the person know that we're a party of two and she said I'll need to setup a table. No problem yet. We clarify that we'd like an outside table as people inside were clearing out. The response was a sharp "as I said I need to clean up a table I'll be right with you". Strike one. I think I'm pretty reasonable and can understand this clarification may have felt uncessary if I put myself in their shoes but snapping at your customer isn't the start of a positive dining experience. The next thing that happens is she starts to wipe down several INDOOR tables. So either completing this other task was more important than the customer in front of you, there was a misunderstanding of the request or she acted in spite. I'd like to think it's the middle option. Strike two. So a gentleman asked whether we were being helped. Great now we're getting back on track. As the first person continues to tender to the indoor tables we let him know we're waiting for an outside table and he say she may not understand that and walks over to speak with her. Awesome! He comes backs and says we should be good to go soon. Two women enter after us while we are waiting and speak to the gentleman we just spoke with. They ask about seating and specifically can they sit outside. They were told the don't need to wait and just sit in the back. Strike three. This is the exact request we spoke with two different people at this point while we wait for the original person to finish preparing indoor tables. At this point we exit immediately. Why wouldn't two people give us this option and make us wait while another patron was provided this option immediately. I really wanted to like Father Knows Best but I can't recommend this place. The details matter and being thoughtful and considerate goes a long way. read more

Father Knows Best is a hipster bar in Bushwick, close to the Dark Side past Jefferson and Dekalb subway stops, and close to Highland Park. A block and a half away from the Wilson stop, this neighborhood is a combination of the gentrification of Bushwick and the residential area that was here before gentrification. Father Knows Best is a great spot to do work, without the commitment of being a coffee shop. So, in the afternoon one can have a beer while she works, as opposed to cold brew coffee. They do have that here. Food proportions are reasonable, but not especially big or generous. Coffee is competitive, but prices for beer and liquor are just about the same as the best places in Bushwick, such as the Johnson's off of the Jefferson stop. I would say it's more of a work spot than a hook up or party spot, but they do get lively on weekends like most of the bars in Bushwick. They have a rotating list of events on their weekly calendar, including sometimes karaoke, trivia, and many others. This bar is excellent for having a conversation, and they have a great backyard deck. The deck is great for smoking, too, and while I don't personally smoke I can see that people can use that. Bartenders are intelligent, capable, and hardworking. The bartenders here deserve 5 stars, too. For things to fix, I wish they had Lion's Head beer, which is dirt cheap and they can sell for dirt cheap, like $2 a beer. I also wish they had stage shows like theater or stand-up comedy. I don't necessarily want any open-mics, because I realize those can be obnoxious. And yes, I realize the off-nights when they don't have any events are there for a reason, so people can work during the week. read more

Just go here. Best bar I've been to in a long time. The staff is down-home friendly, everyone is having a good time, and the food is as dank as promised. I spent a very late Sunday night hanging out here and had a blast. We watched movies, there was beer, there were some 80s movies. What more could you want? The nachos are tasty, some reviewers seem on the fence about them but they get my stamp of approval. Also, the beer is good and cheap for NYC prices. I wish there were a couple more selections, but for the prices it works out well. I feel like a group of friends got together and said "let's make a bar that we would enjoy." And out of that simple moment came Father Knows Best. Maybe the genesis is less inspired than that, but if you're trying to find a cool place to hang for a couple of hours I would look no further.
