I recently visited Fathom, a cozy, charming coffee shop I discovered after leaving the Old Beach Farmers Market.  They are conveniently located off Baltic Ave and have  plenty of free street parking (No fear of getting towed)  The interior is small, with a limited waiting area, but the outdoor seating in the back is the true highlight. It has tables and umbrellas overlooking a beautiful flower and vegetable garden. I was especially impressed by how dog-friendly Fathom is; my dogs were welcomed inside just like any other guest, and there are even pictures of their furry guest on the walls near the entrance. Their prices are very affordable & reasonable, especially compared to other coffee shops in the oceanfront area. On my first visit, I ordered a hot caramel latte with almond milk and an iced white chocolate mocha latte, and both drinks together were just over $11. They were well-balanced and delicious. My Second visit I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks. I ordered a hot coconut drift latte with almond milk, my daughter a watermelon lemonade and a pup cup. I was really impressed with the service my dog received, as they made their pup cup from scratch! The drinks have consistently been high in quality and flavor on each visit. It's worth mentioning that they don't serve food, but they do offer some pre-packaged snacks for purchase. Fathom has officially become a part of my Saturday morning routine when I visit the farmer's market. I highly recommend giving Fathom a try if you're in the area; you definitely won't be disappointed!

So crazy story...I actually I found this place while looking for another coffee spot in the Vibe District. It is definitely a hidden gem, and I shouldn't say a "hidden" gem because it was packed lol. I stumbled across Fathom Coffee one Saturday morning. The inside is very small with 2 tables in the inside. The line was pretty long which was good sign. That meant it must be good. It would be a place that I grab the coffee and go because I sat in the chair while waiting on my coffee to be made and I felt like I was in the way because the line was long. They do have seating outside. One thing I noticed was that prices were extremely reasonable. There was so much to choose from and I ordered the vanilla shaken espresso with oat milk. They didn't upcharge for the milk which was a plus. My coffee was delicious! I can definitely see why the line was long and will be returning soon!

This coffee shop is for people who genuinely care about their coffee. They roast their own beans, list the origins and explain the flavors. Their drinks are thoughtful and designed to bring out the flavor of the coffee. The shop is small and cozy with a very nice garden outside for additional seating. Service was quick and they even gave me a coupon to come back. It was well worth the walk from my hotel on the main strip for this. A guaranteed stop next time I'm at the beach.

Loved it! Tranquil and the perfect coffee hideaway I ordered the pour over to keep it simple on my first visit. I added the maple flavor syrup (can't remember the full name). It was good but needed sweetener to balance the taste. Can't wait to return!

Back at Fathom with the Hampton Roads coffee passport and what can I say? I'm glad we tried it again. I got a fantastic latte that I really enjoyed and my husband enjoyed his nitro cold brew. The baristas were great and friendly and it was a great way to spend our Friday morning. I wish they had sippy lids for the nitro and more seating. Otherwise, great experience!

As a dog mom, the dog wall of fame easily won me over. Yummy coffee too- I got the first Watch special and it tasted like a blueberry muffin in a cup. A tad on the sweet side for me, but still very good. My dog got pup cup, which was hands down the fanciest pup cup she's ever gotten. Very nice workers, cool vibe. Great visit for dog parents!

Saw great reviews about this spot and it did not disappoint! I got a drip coffee and I love how distinct and simple my coffee tasted. started my day on a good note! would highly recommend this spot for some good coffee, and cute photo shots.

Good coffee, a bit pricey though, $5.00 for a small cappuccino, same for a small latte.

First time in, customer service was great. They recommended an iced vanilla latte with caramel drizzle and cold foam. It's amazing!

Love a great cold brew, and fathom coffee did not disappoint!! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with the aroma of coffee!! And a friendly greeting! When I asked them to let me look at the menu it my first time visiting , they informed me of the process of the coffee and the story of the beans they have. I told the ladies I love a nice strong cold brew coffee with caramel! man was that a great nitro coffee so smooth and tasty!! Don't worry I will be back! I'm trying all the local coffee shops!

So sad that Fathom was less than desirable. I've heard rave reviews about Fathom and have had it on my "to-try" list for over 6 months. Finally made it over this weekend and I should have listened to my sense of smell when we walked in and both immediately looked at each other and stated that it smelled VERY weird in the establishment. My first thought was "OOPS, they terribly burnt that batch", but the stickers on the wall stating "never burnt" eased my mind LOL. Sadly, it was un-drinkably (is that a word?) burnt and a complete waste of $6. The only saving grace for the 2 stars rather than 1 was the delicious cold foam served atop. Since it most definitely could have been an off-day, I will probably try it again in the future, but for now, a bit turned off.

The exterior sign was down during my visit, but I came in through the back:) The outside could use some refreshing, BUT the murals adorning the building's walls are incredible! Def worth a visit!

all the independent coffee shops in this area are good. Fathom had the best espresso of the bunch though!

They do not sell coffee!!! We entered the "store" and it was a coop workplace. They told us they are not allowed to sell coffee.

Literally. 96° outside and STILL got served cold brew chaos We finally made it to Three Ships after last week's oceanfront madness -- and I had high hopes. Tried their Piña Colada Cold Brew (cold brew + pineapple juice + coconut cold foam) and y'all... the acidity made the foam CURDLE. Like actual curds floatin' in my cup I took one sip and said "absolutely not." Then I gave their Banana Hammock Latte a shot. Cute name, but not the flavor. Too much milk, not enough coffee, and when I asked if it could be made with cold brew instead? They said nope -- no menu changes allowed ‍ Even the biscuit, which they make in-house, was a no from me. Heavy, not flaky, just... meh. But the worst part? Another spot we tried before that wasn't even dog friendly. Huge "NO PETS ALLOWED" sign on both doors. So Lexi had to go back to the car, AC blasting, while it's nearly 100° outside. That broke my heart Best part of the day? The kind girls working the counter and the beautiful café interior. But both coffees hit the trash FULL. Not even two sips in. Wasting money on mid coffee and being turned away with Lexi? Not a vibe. #SipAndSunday #BougieBTReviews #VirginiaBeach757 #HamptonRoadsEats #7CitiesFoodie #LexiTheBougieBT #BostonTerrierTikTok #DogFriendlyPlease #TooHotForThat #CoffeeFail #TikTokHonestReview

My husband and I are regulars at Big Ugly but I've never taken the opportunity to try Taxus Street until this week. I tried to come on Monday and quickly learned they were closed, so returned the following day. They operate inside the brewery and have a nice setup in the corner. There is lots of seating - bars and high tops - and it's a great spot for a morning gathering. There was a meeting in the upstairs loft happening during my visit. The barista who assisted me was working solo. She was super friendly and happy to answer my questions. I was glad to hear they offer decaf espresso. I opted to try one of their seasonal lattes - the Mounds Bar latte with almond milk, mocha and coconut cold foam. It took only a few minutes for my order to be prepared. I did find the drink to be slightly sweet for my taste and would ask for half sweet on my next visit. For the lactose intolerant, they have almond and oat milk options. They also have several pastries and some hot food options to choose from like overnight oats and breakfast burritos from Burrito Perdido. I was really pleased with my recent visit and I'll be happy to come back soon!

So much to love about this new discovery besides the fact that it's NOT a Starbucks lol and for those that know me, you know I love and love to support and discover tucked away indie coffee places (see my reviews!). This place is also a roastery and sells their own bean blends. I don't know the history behind the shop and name but was told it is chemistry themed and owned by W&M alum - yassssss! Service is SUPER friendly and excellent so that's a bonus! I lovvvvvvve that the latte menu is chock full of super creative seasonal flavors - so many to choose from!! I stopped by twice while in town and staying just down the street. Had a hot Rose Macaron latte and the next day had the Lemon Bar. Both were DELICIOUS. NOT OVERLY SWEET BUT WITH SUBTLE FLAVORS AND BOLD ESPRESSO TASTE. NOTTTTTT WIMPY WEAK. Both days I had the OG Bacon Egg Cheese sando on an ET bagel that was a decent accompaniment to my seasonal lattes which were clearly the stars of the show. I was there during the week - once mid afternoon, the other day late morning and it was not crowded at all both days. The seating area is HUGE. 2 separate adjacent rooms - walk through the front ordering area and you'll find a large, super cozy and inviting "living room" type space with comfy couches, armchairs, dining tables with chairs and even cubes for studying. Dark and moody vibes. SUPER COZY, RELAXING AND KEPT VERY CLEAN AND TIDY. The other seating area has a bunch of tables and chairs, lots of windows, brighter and more conducive for gathering. I took and posted a bunch of pics and some vids so check them out. So glad to have discovered this coffee spot and gem! Will definitely be back when I visit Williamsburg again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
