I was super excited to visit this quaint coffee shop for the first time. That was short-lived. I ordered an açai bowl, it's typically with fresh fruit and a chilled açai base. The ticket was sent to the kitchen at 9:57. Please help me understand why I did not get my sandwich until 10:25... That is a 28 minute wait for a breakfast sandwich that was basically a good sandwich. It took longer for me to wait for my meal than it did to drive from my end of Norfolk to pick up a sandwich in Virginia Beach. The place was not busy when we went in, but our sandwich took 15-20 minutes to come out and when it was put out, we couldn't tell that it was ours because they didn't call a name. My aunt cause an iced latte and my peppermint mocha looked about the same color as hers which was surprising to me - I was expecting a deep mocha color/flavor and it was more of a white mocha appearance. When I asked if there was dark mocha in it, the barista said something about not knowing how much syrup I wanted in it so they go light on that - not a huge deal but especially since we were the only two people waiting on drinks at the time, it would have been easy to ask/check with me. My drink was good but I don't think I'll be making a special trip to go there - just when I'm in the area/in town. Next up on our Coastal Coffee Trial journey was Lynnhaven Coffee. Decided to try this along with Craft Burger next door and had a wonderful time. This is the epitome of a coo fee shop, warm and inviting, random but super comfy chairs and couches, and very relaxing vibe. The staff was quick and friendly and they were breezing through the orders. We got our drinks pretty quick and added a crumb cake because why not. Our group order a chai with oat milk and a shaken espresso with tiramisu syrup. The chai was delightful and the foam art made me so happy! The shaken espresso was very pretty and my partner thoroughly enjoyed it. The reason for -1 star was the crumb cake. While it was tasty, it was definitely not made that day. It was a bit tough and would've been better warmed a bit. Not sure if they make it in house or brought in from a bakery but I might ask about it if I try again. Good, maybe great coffee. Food is pricey, small servings (bagel sandwich was almost on a mini-bagel sized bagel) and served on paper. My customer service experience was unacceptable. The manager failed to respond professionally to a problem with their online ordering system. My online order (made via their website and their chosen third party) didn't appear on their screens - despite my credit card being charged. After I showed the counter representative my credit card company's text notification ("a $13.20 transaction was made at LYNNHAVEN COFFEE CO," ), the manager got involved. Not the slightest bit apologetic, she rudely directed me to "open your app." After wasting more of my time by demanding that I "redo" what I'd done to make my order, she made me wait without telling me what she was doing while she silently punched buttons on the terminal. When done, she grudgingly said something about "we'll let you know when your order was ready." I asked about adding a coffee and she informed me "I have an interview to do" while walking away. Stopped in today to check this spot off of my coastal coffee trail list. It's maybe my third visit here, and I love the calming and eclectic decor inside. There are many tables and lounge chairs to hang out in. And though I didn't get any food today it seems they expanded their food menu quite a bit from the last time I visited. The staff wasn't overly engaging but the service was pretty quick. My cold brew was very full-flavored and unique tasting. I came here on a Sunday mid-morning in search of a small bite to eat and a fun iced coffee to try out. I was very surprised to see that it was in a shopping center right next to a church. I must have gotten there right when it was starting because it literally took forever to get through the crowds of people and to find a parking spot. I loved the vibe I got when stepping inside. Lots of seats, a great homey feel going on. They seemed to have a lot of yummy food to choose from and even more coffee selections. I opted for an amaretto/-coconut iced latte. The lady at the register suggested their bacon avocado croissant. I chose that and I am so happy I did. It was delicious! The local coffee shop options are limited in this part of VB. I stopped visiting the one closest to the bridge after hearing about some shenanigans at that business that didn't sit well with me. So now, in my mind, Lynnhaven Coffee Company is the only option in this part of town. First, there is a huge parking lot. I've never had any issue finding parking and can usually get pretty close on a cold or rainy day. I really like the vibe of LCC. The furniture offers a variety of high top, low top, and comfy seating for whatever mood you're feeling. I prefer to sit on the couches when I have the opportunity. The windows bring in a lot of natural light, and it's just all-around great. Not "fancy," but definitely cozy. That's the kind of vibe I go for. For most people, their drink options are great! I've never taken anyone here who didn't quickly find something they enjoy. I'm a little wimp when it comes to coffee. Really, I like milk, sugar, and espresso. They do not have a variety of specialty lattes giving me my caffeine and sugar buzz at the same time. For this reason, I usually drink a London fog tea latte when I come here. They do coffee really well, sugar, not so much. I know this will probably excite people more than it disappoints me. Another small gripe is they give everything in single-use cups instead of having real mugs for people enjoying their drinks in the shop. Again, this might be great for some people. I'm just sensitive to my environmental footprint... okay the truth is I just like the feeling of drinking out of a real cup. Call me, bougie. Overall this is a 3.5-star for me, but I know I'm picky. Around 11am on a Sunday, it was not busy at all so we were able to set up shop at one of the bigger tables (for 4). Cute, simple decor. Employees are great & pretty chill. I started on some work then went to order coffee + food. So glad the employee explained macchiato sizing to me because I would've been so upset LOL. Got the hazelnut macchiato (Starbucks vibes) and it was sooooo good. The grilled cheese was good as well, which I resorted to because they don't have a lot of chicken/turkey options for their meats on their sandwiches. First time enjoying a cup at Lynnhaven Coffee Company and what a delightful surprise to find in my backyard. The location is in the Lynnhaven Beach Square. Many know this strip for the Shore Drive Farmers Market. Lynnhaven Coffee organized and started it in 2015. Surface parking had new black top applied. The area and walk up to the shop spotless. Since 2014 the shop has roasted 4-6 labels of coffee off site a few blocks from the shop. I talked with co-owner Jack about the business. He said it made since to open a storefront in 2016 featuring their own coffee brand. He also smokes the chicken for their outrageously yum chicken salad which is a must try. The shop has a cheeky and eclectic Vibe that would be welcoming to anyone. The building most likely a Shore Drive original is circa 1950's. Light pours in its large panels. The single restroom is to the left of the counter. I found it clean with proper supplies. My order the Buddha Bowl / Quinoa, grilled veggies, tomatoes, avocado, greens, dressing, smoked chicken salad. Paired with a white chocolate coffee. The bowl was unique, fresh and huge!!! The price point fair for size. The staff know their products. Service by Becca and another woman was friendly. Checkout efficient.
