Farman's was A pub I passed by a lot going home to Illinois from Milwaukee always wanted to try, my first experience was very average nothing special about this place very over priced the chili they advertised as "The best homemade chili" was very bland nothing special about the cheese curds the ranch was actually pretty good. The best part was the beef rolls they had a nice beefy taste with a crisp shell I would recommend that. read more

It got worse. Needs a Chef Ramsay makeover. The pizza is just God awful, which is surprising since the owners, The Khyats, own wood-fire pizza. Pizza was undercooked on like a boboli crust. Pizza was $25 which is more than a 10x time pizza you could get across the street at Kaisers. We also ordered a basket of fries that cost $10. Ripoff. read more

Saw Fatman's from highway this last Sunday and decided to see if the governor had shut them down. They had a sign on the door suggesting that we were free to protest the shutdown, so we did, and glad we did. The restaurant had an outdoor patio but we decided to protest inside. Started with potato skins for an appetizer. They were so substantial they could have easily been a meal. We hadn't had BBQ for a while so we each tried something to share. Wife had the brisket and I had the rib tips. They were both very good and while I'm reluctant to complain at all, the tips seemed to have a lot of gristle (which may be normal for rib tips). What wasn't gristle was incredible. The service was excellent. Our waitress came by several times to see how we were doing and was pleasant to chat with. If Fatman's wasn't so far away we would make it a regular stop. Nevertheless, we still plan to return. There were several other items on the menu we want to try. read more

We used to order fried turkeys, yes plural, every Thanksgiving. We will no longer be doing this since the cost went up so much. I understand things cost more now. However, when you charge so much more that it would cover another turkey, at last years cost for us.... I'm done. I will make my own. I can literally buy a fryer to keep for years to come and turkeys are cheap. We chose this route because it was easier in previous years, now the kids are older and can help with the sides and stuff. The owner charges $10 cash only or you have to go to the atm inside to get in his restauran. The person that claims to be owner can't handle more than one costumer therefore he attends both and loses it and says we have attitude and can't go in his restaurant. This place is short staffed! Both outside bars are busy And food service takes a long time. read more

Escalated Quickly.. Do not sit anywhere near their "loaded" "regular patron" Josh (42... my a**). The food was great, however I couldn't eat all of it because this 'Josh' guy kept grabbing off my plate. After asking what would Jesus do, I took a plate and put some fries for him And put it further away from me... he still wanted my food.....I feel bad for his friends (who were very nice) who have to try to wrangle him up after his 11-7 binge drinking episodes, but you guys and the bar could of done a better job of helping get him away. All I wanted was to sit down and have a good meal and a drink... maybe sign up for the summer volleyball league. I didn't finish my meal or take more than a couple sips of my drink. read more

Food was absolutely inedible ( got a motherload sandwich , dry, old beef on a dry toasted bun) service was decent . Music too loud and distracting for lunch crowd on a Monday. Won't be back if I can help it. Word of advice to Farman's staff.. don't serve a plate that you wouldn't serve your family or eat yourself. read more

I had a couple of occasions to pop into Fatmans for a burger. I usually sit with the same person, Shaun. He is an amazing server, my coke was never empty and he was super cool. The service at a restaurant is most important to me because it is something that is easily controlled when done correct. All servers should be as out going and customer centric as Shaun. I will be back. I recently returned, I came in on Sunday morning for breakfast. My server was Shaun he was attentive and very very friendly although he had five other tables he was still treating me like I was the only one in the restaurant. Great food and very inexpensive for breakfast. I wish I could give him 10 Stars. read more

Went there early afternoon. Not many people there at all. I had a pulled pork sandwich, fries and ordered a pizza to go. The sandwich was a nice amount of pork, however it really had not much of a taste. I had to put Tabasco on it to provide it with some zest. The French fries were nothing special, frozen at one time I'm sure. Got my food pretty fast, but as I said, the place was pretty empty. I wanted thick crust pizza, with extra sauce. I got it home and it was thin crust with very tasteless sauce. I was very disappointed! Not Recommended! read more

Sat outside in their bar/patio area and I brought my 7 month old puppy with me. Not sure why but my Puppy started to puke on the floor. I made sure to clean it up and clean up after my dog and remove my dog from the area out of respect for the employees and other customers around me. I had 2 employees keep whispering comments about myself and my dog under their breath and even though I was already embarrassed from my puppy's puke, the comments from their employees didn't help the situation. I heard one of their employees say "I don't know why some people don't know how to feed their dogs." And she nodded her head and kept walking back and forth from my table. Then, I had asked another employee for extra napkins and instead of handing them to me or placing them on my table, he rudely threw them on the bar and I had to grab them myself. I apologized for the situation my dog caused and I made sure to clean up after my dog and I still paid for my food and left a tip, I just thought those 2 employees were so rude for the comments they made instead of making me feel welcomed at their restaurant. I felt embarrassed and not welcomed at all. This place used to be my go to and I won't be going there anymore. read more

Not a be harsh. The service out weighed the food. The brisket I had was more fat than anything else. I do have to admit that their homemade barbecue sauce was very good. It didn't make up for the meat it was covering. My wife had a chicken salad that was average, nothing major. Again the dressing was what made the dish. It's kind of a hit or miss here to be honest. I'm not a fan of super greasy meats, but when presented with a great sauce it makes it hard to completely knock the place. I'll let you decide. read more

Holy prices Batman! Ate a $18 Gyro sandwich with fries. I get prices are up everywhere but come on. You can't be a dive bar charging high end restaurant prices. Fatmans is a lovely place, not only do I adore the wait staff but also the bartenders they are just always welcoming but roger that today was kinda disappointing very disappointing every lay over between songs was just another dis at the staff. The first joke was funny but after listening to it all afternoon it was just kinda barbaric. They were hating on everything the staff did not only do they work very well but most work lots of hours I'm sure all the customers appreciate all their hard work unlike roger that. My family and I have been going to Fatmans as a large group for breakfast once a year usually on Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend for at least the last 14 years. Today there were 16 of us but the staff made it seem like there was only half that many..in a good way! We had Shaun as a waiter and Danny was behind the bar. Shaun was so attentive to our order from getting water to the only jam they had in the place, and Danny had the best drinks and assisted Shaun in making sure the drinks got to the table in a timely fashion. The food was excellent and the service was even better. I have to tip my hat to Chris and crew for making a great change in the staffing and management which really show in the product they are producing! First to review Fat Man's?! Great local hang out in Gurnee. I came here on Sunday for breakfast with the fam. Each breakfast was $5! You can't beat that. I had the French Toast with 2 sausages. Yum! You can also pick 2 eggs anyway you like, hash browns, choice of bacon or sausage and toast. Lots of food for that price. Service is quick and friendly. Fat Man's also has a sand volleyball court for the summer months. Kind of in a weird location, right off Highway 41 but definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more
