We stopped in from out of town for dinner. The food was ok. The portions were small and my Reuben was flat with very little meat. My mom's grilled cheese did not have very much on It either. However, my grandma did love her pie and i bet they have good milkshakes. I would recommend more for breakfast or a light lunch. read more

In the middle of charming Georgetown sits Fava's Restaurant since 1910. Walking into Fava's is taking a step back in time to when food was home cooked and the waitstaff made you feel as if you were family. Fava's is painted fire engine red inside and still has the original counter and stools. Shannon was our wait person and he was incredible, both professional and welcoming. We couldn't have had better service anywhere. I digress, of course: the food. We could not resist the Root Beer Float and the Peanut Butter Fudge Shake. The ice cream in both was wonderful and both 'dessert' drinks were excellent in flavor. We had to have the Catfish Plate and it is obvious why the previous reviews were written the way they were. Simply put, this catfish is DELICIOUS. It is gently breaded and the catfish is sweet, succulent. The Hush puppies are crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Exactly the way they should be. The chili soup bowl was full of flavor with the right amount of heat. The cole slaw was freshly made and quite tasty. We had so much food that we had to take a piece of butterscotch merengue pie with us. It was home made, a little too sweet for our taste, but no real complaints. Go. Enjoy. read more

Good, not great... We decided to check out Fava's after finding it on Yelp and reading the wonderful reviews. I will say that the atmosphere was beautiful; the restaurant opened in 1910. Between the three of us we ordered a pancake breakfast that included bacon and eggs, an open face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes, and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. We all tried each other's. The pancakes were okay, nothing special, eggs fine, but bacon burnt. The open face roast beef was good, but again, not great. The Philly cheese steak was okay too. For dessert I ordered a piece of the chocolate peanut butter pie, which is scratch made. This was the best part of the meal, absolutely delicious. The service was okay. Our waitress was very nice, but seemed very busy with a take-out order. The restroom was decently clean. I would give Fava's another shot, but would order something different and hope for better results. read more

Ok look I love favas but I was almost put off because the first time I went there me and my mom waited 2HOURS for our food!And still even when we finally got it my chicken tasted VEERY odd.Now I now love favas and it was just that day they messed up that almost made me never want to comeback. read more

I saw Fava's as a potential eatery when I drove by as I was on my way to my hotel. I asked where to eat and the Desk Manager said, "Fava's." OK, it was on. The table wasn't as clean as I would have liked but the server cheerfully wiped it down for me. I was having a late lunch, so I wanted ice tea and chose the special which was a Kentucky Hot Brown with a salad. It was served up quickly and was very tasty. The salad had a variety of greens and other weeds in it which surprised me for a small town Mom & Pop place. Delicious! The Hot Brown was very tasty although it wasn't a work of art visually. Still, it was quite satisfying to eat and that is what it is all about. The hotel manager had said they did good homemade pies so I chose the Derby Pie which is a chocolate pecan pie. It had been cooked just a little long but it was still very tasty with the "Mother would make it" appeal. I've seen reviews of poor service here and would disagree based on my experience. The young lady kept my tea full and was extremely friendly and happy. It was the same with the lady that ran the cash register. In summary, I'm putting this in my GPS for the next time I come through here. A nice restaurant, family friendly, small town charm, good food and not far off the highway. read more

We just left Fava's, our first time there. We asked "how are the burgers" "amazing" our greeter said. She was very nice. Your server will be right with you. It's Monday after Christmas and we are 3 of 5 folks in the restaurant and it took 10-15 minutes for our server to appear. She didn't speak and so we just started with our order. Each of us had a different burger with fries and some fried pickles. She didn't ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked so we told her medium. They all came out over cooked and tasteless except for the sauces that we asked for on the side. The buns were stale, fries cold. Again, we were practically the only ones in the restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided on this place for dinner on night #3 of our stay in Kentucky. He ordered the Hot Brown which came with a side salad. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. We assumed his salad would have been brought to our table because he was asked his dressing of choice & the other waiters were obtaining the salads from the salad bar and delivering them to tables. After waiting 15 mins he just got up and got his own salad. Then the waiter proceeded to drop the check off stating she "didn't want to forget it". We proceeded to wait an additional 35 mins for our food. Our drinks were finally then refilled (had been empty for approx. 20 mins). His Hot Brown was very tasty but burned and wasn't visually appealing. My French fries weren't anything exciting, chicken was very tasty. I got a side of beer cheese...which was interesting. Not like any that we had previously at different places (it was served cold and was very spicy). We paid our tab and left...we felt very rushed due to the fact that we got the bill way before our food, plus were weren't even asked if we wanted anything else. Dessert maybe? The waiter had no personality, didn't smile once and didn't take any pride in her job. This was unfortunately our first experience in Kentucky were the service was less than stellar. read more

Everything about this place pointed to a solid 5 stars. Very neat building with Cool history, very good menu items. Server was attentive and took order fast . Then it started going wrong. Obviously the kitchen and the wait staff where not communicating at all. We begin noticing it taking a while then we see the orders sitting on the window waiting to be picked up. The cook was cranking out meals ringing the bell and no one was delivering them. We actually noticed the cook.come up front and say something to the staff. Then overhear them talk about why he is upset. Another 10 mins go by and we find ally get our food. It was barely warm started to get to the point that of being cold. This is a real shame too. The flavors would have been great had we gotten a plate of hot or at least warm food. The place was busy but had more than ample wait staffing. Inexcusable. 1 point deducted for being slow 1 point to for food being cold once we got it. read more

I am highly disappointed. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and was not crowded, yet no one greeted our family. I chose a booth for all of to sit in. Another couple behind us were greeted and guided to their booth. As we sat a waitress came and gave us a menu and silverware, but still not a single welcoming greeting. It was more of a dump just to give us a menu and silverware. We waited for 18 minutes before someone took our order. Others that came behind were greeted friendly and were sat. I watched and noticed that all around us waitress were taking orders for other families after us. I am usually one that believes in the good nature of others. I observed that we were not getting the level of service others and figured there had to a reason. We received our food, and ate the subpar food making friendly conversation with other families surrounding us. Once again those around us were asked multiple times how the food was or if they needed anything. Not once did a waitress come and asked us if we needed anything. We were handed a receipt for the food without a word and had to waive a waitress over to get a drink refill. I have never felt like we had been pushed out of a restaurant until this. We couldn't leave without discussing how appalling it was to have such an experience! I felt we were absolutely experiencing judgments of an interracial family and racism. We asked for a manager, although there wasn't one, we kindly explained to the young woman that there would be no tip due to the experience and if they planned on living off a waitress salary then they need to learn to treat all equally. I tip very generously for all public service jobs because of how ridiculous it can be to work with people all day. This was a first I've never tipped a waitress. read more

Fava's Catering Do NOT use! I cannot stress this enough. The saying, "You get what you pay for." Is so true with Fava's Catering of Georgetown, KY. As a bride working on a budget, I thought I had found a bargain; I was wrong. I don't know anyone who likes to read really long reviews, so I am going to make a list of all of the problems. * Only one member of the wait staff showed up in uniform, black pants and a white shirt. The others were not presentable (jeans and a dingy, un-tucked t-shirt, in my opinion, is unacceptable) * They forgot to bring the ice and then started serving salads before anyone had anything to drink. * They also started serving salads before all of the guests were seated, the introductions had been made, and the prayer had been said. In a previous meeting, we had asked that the service not start until after these three things were done. * Despite being under our estimated count, they RAN OUT of food! An entire table was fed a couple of empty shells with a piece or two of broccoli, instead of the agreed upon menu of stuffed shells and mixed vegetables. * Some guests received burnt food. * They were under staffed, and some of my close friends ended up serving the other guests. * The wait staff was rude to my husband and told him to get out when he went to talk to the owner about the situation. The owner, however, could only be addressed where they were preparing the food, since she was not dressed in an acceptable manner. * The owner had the audacity to tell my mother that the issues were her fault. The owner would not take responsibility for her mistakes. Being blamed put a slight damper on mother's evening. Please, please, please, do not suffer from the same disappointment and embarrassment I did. If I had to do it again and could only choose between Fava's Catering or serving chicken nuggets and french-fries, I would opt to serve the fast food at my elegant wedding. At least it wouldn't have been burnt and we would have run out! It probably also would not have come with a ton of attitude either. read more

Stopped in on a whim at the tail end of a long road trip. I had the catfish sandwich with fava chips, and was surprised and delighted at how tasty and reasonably priced the whole meal was. What a great little find as we were just passing through the area! This local, family owned and operated eatery is in the Heart of the beautiful historic district. We were promptly greeted with smiles and the great service continued. My husband had the Kentucky Brown which we were told was 'Grandma's ' recipe and it was delicious! My omelette was just perfect for a lighter supper. Of course, we had to try the homemade chocolate pie! Superb.! You won't be disappointed by the homemade foods, local charm, and friendly people. Love this place! If fried pickles are your thing make sure to get the frickles. Can't go wrong with a burger and basically everything I've and my coworkers have had have but delicious. Lunch time crowd can get pretty busy, but worth the wait. Georgetown..I'm jealous, good eats. read more

We were making our way from Disney back to Detroit MI and decided to stop in Georgetown. Could not stand the thought of Applebees or Ruby Tuesday so we asked the hotel clerk where we could get fried fish and she suggested Fava's. So glad we stopped. The place was fantastic. Very reasonably priced and very high quality homemade food. I suggest the catfish, clam chowder soup, and collard greens. read more
