I have gone to this restaurant many many times. Saturday November 20th we were served by a waitress withe initials AM B. She was absolutely horrible. We got our food served way before we even got cutlery. She knew we needed some and she just went on serving other tables as if nothing. I had to get up and go get some from the front. She suggested broccoli with my meal and she brought me veggies. She poured water in my sprite even after telling her multiple times it was sprite. I was with 6 other friends and since it was a large party tip was included which in some instances thats wonderful, but not this time. Fairly memorable! And prices are so reasonable! Everything we tried - so much of the menu consisted of fairly typical, "safe" offerings. Chicken sandwich. Hawaiian chicken. Key lime pie. Even the deviled eggs appetizer. Take the deviled eggs - not commonly served in restaurants perhaps, and there's no special reason to get those when one is dining out per se. But my wife enjoys them, so we thought, why not? They turned out to be delicious, and thanks to a generous square of candied bacon stuck in the middle of each, these might have been the best deviled eggs we ever had. Maybe not - but maybe. And that theme repeated itself for every other item we tried. Hawaiian chicken. Safe offering. But this one came w a pour-over carmelized sauce that our server raved about and it made you say, this might be the best Hawaiian chicken I've ever had. Maybe not, but maybe. Same thing, lather-rinse-repeat, for the chicken sandwich. I mean, it's a chicken sandwich, right? Nothing special. But that's where you'd be wrong. This one not only is battered and fried to perfection but comes with a combination of chunky slaw, Swiss cheese, and dressing that leaves you saying this might be the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Maybe not, but maybe. Dessert was the same thing. Somewhat surprisingly, there are only two options. SAFE options. Key lime pie, and a hot fudge sundae. Nothing special, you think. But again, you'd be wrong. The key lime pie is made in house, house-made crust, very understated yet delightful, the pie is served on a slurry of raspberry sauce that has you repeating the same phrase once again: this might be the best key lime pie I've ever had. Maybe not, but maybe. Which brings us back to the prices. We would come back for the food. We will rave about the prices. Or we would rave about the prices and come back for the food? Either way. Oh - and service was off the charts. Slow start. But our server recommended both the chicken sandwich and the key lime pie, and we tipped him handsomely in part because of his wonderful advice. My wife are here earlier this week and came home talking about how great it was for lunch so we decided to do dinner there tonight. Used the wait list feature and was glad that it worked. We got there and the place was packed And we only waited 10 minutes. Had the crab and shrimp dip....wow, so good with chips. Was told that the margarita was perfect. Had the grilled shrimp dish and changes out the veggies. Wife had the talapia that had this great shrimp and crawfish sauce. Everything was great. The presentation was just right, slaw is great, rice, and green beans and baked potato and match stick veggies were all awesome. Key Lime Pie should be advertised more because I didn't even know it existed until several months after I started going. First of all, FD's has a very upscale ambiance and a nice menu but the prices are remarkably low. Lots of people were waiting for a table at 7 PM on a Thursday night but I got immediate seating at the bar. On business, eating alone and enjoying a book on the Kindle. I over-ate Indian Tika Masala at lunch and wanted lighter fare. I did the Salmon on a cedar plank with a great pineapple tomato cucumber chutney and a thick tasty glaze on the side. The salmon was well prepared but not an overly large filet. Turned out to be just right for my light palate. I eschewed the potato for green beans and steamed broccoli. The green beans were fresh and sauteed with olive oil and carrot strips. Really good. The steamed broccoli was steamed beyond recognition. It puddled like a jellyfish on my plate. The only miscue of the meal. The service from the two bartenders was excellent and my meal arrived promptly. Here is a craft idea. Save your cedar planks and make a house for your cat. This is one of those unexpected places that you've been told about but find it hard to believe it is true. Well, believe it! FDs is upscale but not pretentious and certainly not outrageous. The only downside I've experienced is the waitimes can be excessive to get a table and they still don't have a way to make reservations or a call ahead wait list. That's the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. The waitstaff are uniformed and obviously trained to FDs standards/ expectations. The menu is a bit eclectic but after four separate visits, including this past Christmas Eve, I can honestly say the food and service is consistently great. There's nothing on the menu that I've tried that I wouldn't order again and I've tried something different (along with my wife) each time we've gone. My wife and I eat out a lot because it's usually just the two of us and planning meals just hasn't been a priority since moving to the area recently. Plus as a previous restaurant owner and the chef, I'm very picky about food quality, presentation and the overall dining experience. So fast food or a fast food environment is not on my radar unless we have the grandkids in toe and they insist on Slim Chickens or Chick-fil-A. Which totally works in that situation. read more

I have been here before but tonight the service was absolutely the worst we have ever experienced. Drinks took over 15 min and they were wrong, could not get refills, after drinks took her another 15 min to take our food order. We new the wait for food would be a while but once we did half the order was wrong, all the food was cold. She never came to communicate anything to us. I finally got the manager and explained everything, he did send over desserts but that even took half an hour. I had to ask her after she passed our table multiple times if we could have our ticket. Our ticket was brought to us 5x because it was incorrect each time. We just wanted to have a relaxing evening and have dinner as a family but we all ended the evening with high anxiety! I went with FD's combo and chose the lemon herb shrimp, the salmon, and the etoufee. All of them were pretty tasty and were prepared quickly. Though both of the entrées wasn't huge portions, overall the quality on both was excellent! With an app and entrée we somehow had room for their "freshly made" key lime pie. The acidity was a tad bit to much the sweet raspberry sauce on the bottom of it really saved it, just wish there was more of that with the pie. Overall food was fantastic! Our waiter wasn't the most pleasant happy going server, but did a great job on refills and getting to us when needed. Little key factor that is different with this place is the sweet tea isn't really sweet but if you get an Arnold Palmer (which is listed on the menu) it creates that perfect balance!!
