Unfortunately has become a dive bar that is nothing like other bars/restaurants in Annapolis (sadly is becoming like Dock Street). Was once a classy establishment with excellent food and quality service, has now become a thing of the past. Disappointing. The second I walked in to get a table I could tell vibes were off. I'd like to mention we came on a weeknight at 630ish, they had no dinner rush and a lot of staff. So the environment was on their side. The staff was discombobulated and were fighting over tables, yet no one was providing any type of service? I understand we are in Annapolis but my god is this place a tourist trap. The food is just so expensive and could be made at a Panera. The staff just doesn't communicate with each other which is evident when food is coming out. They brought our dinner (2 sandwiches) to a different table so we had to wait all over again. The crab dip was fine, I'd say an 80:20 ratio of cheese to crab. So nothing special. The Caprese was ok but not worth $20. The chicken panini was just so mid. Just a bare bones assembly of rubbery chicken and mozzarella. Once again $20. After asking around for a better verdict on this place, the general consensus is that people come here when they are too drunk to stand. Which now makes sense for any type of positive food review over 3 stars. Don't waste your time, there's so many better spots which the same prices were you can get a REAL MEAL. read more

BEASTED! I gobbled UP my scrumpdiddlyumptous Salmon BLT. I subbed the bacon for avocado and everyone was really nice about it. I got sweet potatoes fries too, they were a little cold but i enjoyed anyway. I also got the Caliente Bloody Mary and that was HEAT. If i'm ever back in Annapolis i'd come back just for that. We were just walking around downtown and decided to pick a random spot for dinner. Soo glad we chose this spot! Ernie was our server and he was so great! He was welcoming, patient, professional, and so helpful! Even though it was during a busy Saturday dinner rush, the service was great. They have some nice open outdoor seating, so we plan to bring our dog next time. The food was great with reasonable portions; the seafood was so good! My favorite was the lobster grilled cheese -- I'll definitely order it again! Overall, we had a great experience and Ernie was an incredible server. Made a quick stop here for breakfast. Friendly and efficient service. Really wasn't anything special to my experience because I was in and out but definitely has good menu options for anyone looking to grab an early bite. I stopped in for a late lunch. When the host brought us to the table, it had not been cleaned. Thankfully, our server noticed it immediately and cleaned it off for us. Even though it was busy, the service was decent. I ordered a cup of the onion soup gratin and the lobster grilled cheese. The soup was so delicious, I could have just eaten that and been happy. The lobster grilled cheese was super decadent, with big chunks of lobster. That said, it was a little overly stuffed and started to fall apart upon eating. The sandwich also came with fries that were perfectly cooked, nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. read more

Stopped in before spending the day touring the Naval Academy yard. For a Saturday lunch time, we were able be seated immediately. The service was immediate, friendly, and ready to make recommendations. I opted for the Crabby Patty Burger with chicken option and it was delicious. The crab dip complimenting the chicken patty did not disappoint and highlighted the dish. Will be back on our next trip to try the Fish and Chips as that was highly recommended as well by our waitress. Enjoy! read more

Chicken wings were yummy; I had the Lobster grilled cheese / entirely too buttery for me, husband had seafood boil - generous with shrimp but sausage and potatoes were skimpy. We have been here a few times and the food and service does not disappoint. Everything we have ordered has been delicious and many dishes have a unique flair. Today we went here after my daughter's high school graduation with a group of 15. We called about 20 minutes prior to our arrival because the restaurant we had spoken to about the meal wasn't prepared for us. The Federal House did an amazing job with a large group on short notice. I've been here three times now I think, though this was the first since the pandemic so it's been a while. My husband suggested driving to Annapolis for lunch because he remembered the fish and chips being really good. He got that, and I didn't snap a pic but he was definitely happy with his order. He said the haddock had a ton of flavor. I couldn't remember what I'd had there before, so I got the lobster grilled cheese. This is not a cheap sandwich ($23.99) but it is lobster so no surprise. My sandwich was excellent! The lobster was sweet and tender, and the bread was buttery and had tons of flavor. It also had cheese, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and raw spinach, which was a nice combination. The sauce on it was enough to add flavor without being too overpowering. The fries are also super crispy. They had a pretty extensive cocktail and beer menu, too. I got a Naptown lager but would love to just get cocktails sometime. It's a big place so didn't feel crowded, even though it was fairly busy (even at 4pm!). The service was good, too. I am sure we will be back again! read more

First off, great service! I feel like patio service can be iffy (out of sight, out of mind) but Remi was great! He was attentive and our orders arrived promptly and completely accurately. The waitress was awesome! She was diligent, and knowledgeable of everything on the menu. The crab bisque was tasty with chunks, and not crumbs of crab. It was so good I didn't get to take a picture. We were so lucky to come during oyster week. We ordered a half order and ended up ordering another half. Our only issue was towards the end, a large group came in, and made it quite loud, and the group wouldn't sit down, so they were standing around our table, while we were eating. read more

Not service oriented at all. Extremely hostile environment during the Annapolis music festival. There are too many great restaurants and venues to ever return or recommend this place. Awesome place! I highly recommend this place as it's the restaraunt with the better service (I find) compared to other restaurants in Annapolis. The food comes out at a reasonable time and the staff are friendly and attentive. Speaking of food, it's awesome. They have specials going on as well as meal deals where you choose between a soup or salad and a half sandwhich. That kind of affordability for the quality of food makes Federal House stand out compared to other places in Annapolis. I highly recommend the special Crab Flatbread. We were hoping to go to the pub but it was closed for the Memorial Day holiday, we went to Founders - it was open. We had the crab cake dinner and a crab cake sandwich. It was a fine crab cake, we're in Maryland so of course we will have something crab related. Overall good food, due to the Memorial Day holiday, the restaurant hired a bunch of holiday staff-- not normal servers, so the service left a lot to be desired. While I was definitely appreciative this place was opened, I don't necessarily know I would go back if there were other options open along the port. read more

Federal House is in the Annapolis market area near the waterfront, a beautiful place to walk around and relax. The historic restaurant has a brick-with-wood interior evoking the history of Annapolis, but the decor didn't seem to carry over to the restaurant vibe, at least to me. The Van Go Getter Espresso Martini was strong and a nice mix of iced coffee, salted caramel Irish cream, Kahlua, and espresso vodka. The server, who was friendly and efficient helped with the beer selection, since the beer menu was extensive. The Summer Crab Stack Salad presentation was appetizing. It tasted delicious and refreshing, especially for a humid summer evening. I would never imagine mixing mango, papaya, corn, and avocado with crab but the flavors melded well and the citrus dressing complemented the salad nicely. I had a crab and lobster grilled cheese that was absolutely divine. The bread was perfectly buttery and crispy. The serving of seafood was generous - enough, in fact, that it was falling off the bread. The restaurant is quaint and warm and the historical building feeling is there. The bathroom is up a flight of stairs as a result, though. All the staff I encountered were friendly staff and our food arrived to our table quickly. read more

The atmosphere is the seller here. Right in downtown Annapolis there is plenty of open air seating with lots to see and enjoy. The food was fine/ok but does not match the prices - it is definitely on the higher end. The beer selection was nice, but service was not super knowledgeable of some of the more local choices. Drove all the way to Annapolis for seafood. Granted most restaurants are closed on Monday but we chose Federal House because of the tents outside with tabletop heaters. The waitress, named Jessie, was without a smile...until it was time for the check. Then She was all smiles. About the food. It was absolutely the worst seafood I've had in quite awhile. Looked like very old oil was used and tasted like it too. I couldn't even tell that my waffle fries were sweet potato fries. The oysters were mediocre (O'Brien's has much better oysters).
