I am extremely disappointed with FedEx's handling of customs fees. I ordered an item that cost approximately $60. I was never contacted by FedEx before customs clearance and was never given the opportunity to pay the customs duty myself. Instead, FedEx paid the duty on my behalf without asking me and then added an additional $15 "Disbursement Fee." When I disputed the charge, FedEx explained that because the shipper had indicated that duties and taxes were the recipient's responsibility, FedEx automatically handled the customs clearance and charged me the additional fee. That is not the main issue. I understand that I may be responsible for legitimate customs duties. My complaint is that FedEx never notified me before paying those duties on my behalf and never gave me the option to pay them directly. A simple email, text message, phone call, or payment link would have allowed me to take care of the customs charge myself and avoid the additional $15 fee. For a purchase of only around $60, an unexpected $15 service fee is significant. Had I known in advance what the total additional charges would be, I might not have made the purchase at all. Customers should be clearly informed BEFORE FedEx provides a paid customs service on their behalf. Automatically performing a service, adding a fee, and only explaining it after the customer receives the bill is not good customer service. Very disappointing experience. I have a sign at my front door that instructs all delivery people to put my packages inside the side porch. FedEx, along with several other delivery folks must hire people that are incapable of reading because many of them will place the package right in front of the sign, it's on my front porch. It tells them to put it inside the side porch. It's either there in capable reading Are they really don't give a damn about the customer they're serving. The absolute worst experience every time I have a package coming from them. Their package delivery estimates are a joke. They're always at least a day later than estimated, and this time it will be 6 days later than their original estimate showed. The customer service is horrendous as well. The chat bot can only answer questions that are in the FAQ. Calling and speaking to a representative is no better. They don't have any clue of the actual situation at the holding center. I had my package held over 24 hours in advance, and the next day the prompt that it was held disappeared. That was followed by it saying it will be delivered between 10am and 2 pm, which is not what I wanted. The package still didn't arrive, imagine that. When going to the pickup center to finally get an answer, there was no address change and no hold request. The phone rep said it would be ready for pickup at 12pm on Saturday, but that was a complete lie because the package hadn't even been scanned in yet. The last package I had, the box was completely bent in half and broke one of the items inside. First of all, we hall a longer porch with the front door being about 15 feet down one side, why is it that FedEx is the ONLY delivery that leaves every package on the steps or barely on the porch, whereas every single other company can get the packages to the front door? I can count on them to always lose packages, damage packages, or being significantly delayed for literally no reason. I'm currently waiting on a package that had an original delivery date one week ago. Status is now, "we'll update your delivery date when we have a clue" (or something along those lines). And, on top of it, after a package DOES manage to make it through the labyrinth of ineptitude known as the FedEx network, it will inevitably be delivered to the wrong address. They updated this around 7 minutes ago from 9:18 pm. This is dishonest because I've been here several hours waiting for the package. My dog does not have anything to eat as a result. Fedex lied and said customer not available - which is a lie because no signature was required. They simply claimed they would deliver by the end of the business day. It looks like they pushed it to the end of the business day - all of this after an agent said he was 100% sure it would be delivered by today -now they've pushed it to the end of 5/4/2026. Update: I called today on 5/3/2026 to complain - and the agent was rude and told me for the first time that the slated 5/2/2026 delivery was a courtesy (a delivery which did not happen)-that this item was really supposed to be delivered Tuesday next week- and I recall him denying on the phone that his company said that a delivery was attempted and that no one was home. I called back - and spoke to another agent - and he admitted that some drivers claim to attempt deliveries and claim that the customer is not available - because they get paid for what I recall him to say are seemingly multiple delivery attempts - he admitted what was happening to me was improper- he told me that the food would be delivered tommorrow morning and a supervisor would call me. Twice Fed Ex has left a food delivery package on my dad's neighbor's porch instead of his porch--two weeks in a row, two different deliveries. There are literally two houses on his road. They can't seem to get the right house with two houses on the road. He's elderly and can't physically go get the large box of food. They said first my address was undeliverable when I purchased from Amazon. I had two addresses because my mailing is different from my physical and BOTH addresses were on the order clearly stated. I called Amazon and they told FedEx my physical address. I would like to think that they would not accept a package in this condition so therefore the damage came from Fedex handling of the package. When I called them they took no responsibility and all they said was call the company where I purchased the goods.
